Daniel Arias, Colorado, Player News
|
A 6-foot-4, 205-pound junior with speed, Arias has been a top breakout candidate the past two years but caught just six passes for 105 yards last year. He has 10 career catches. "People ask me, 'Well what happened with Daniel last year?'" Chiaverini said . "People forget that Daniel got hurt against Stanford (in Week 2). He had a high ankle sprain and … he wasn't the same player after he got injured against Stanford. He's had a phenomenal spring." There are also high expectations for a group of returni ng freshmen that includes Rice, Chris Carpenter, Montana Lemonious-Craig and Keith Miller III. True freshmen Chase Penry and Ty Robinson will join the group this summer. "We have a lot of really talented players that are fighting for playing time and I t ell them this, 'Look, at the end of the day, it's going to be about what you do in practice that's going to get you reps in games,'" Chiaverini said. "They're fighting for those opportunities right now." - Daily Camera

Two seasons into his college career, Daniel Arias has proven to be one of the Buffs' top players on special teams, while flashing his potential as a receiver. Entering his junior year, the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Arias could be poised for a breakout season, and he said being around former teammates Laviska Shenault and Tony Brown, who are now both in the NFL, has helped him progress. "I've built my confidence way more this season, just being around Viska and Tony and just getting their advice and talking to them," Arias said. "Learning from them and learning what they do and how they do it has built my confidence. This season I feel like I'm ready. I feel like this is my time to shine and I'm going to do what I can to help my team win. That's my goal." Ari as, who has four catches for 99 yards and two touchdowns in his career, said extra film and technique work has made a difference this year. - Daily Camera
