Juwan Carter threw three touchdown passes and J.J. Davis ran for 105 yards and scored twice as Norfolk State beat winless Morgan State 31-20 on Saturday. The Bears took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on Jabriel Johnson's short touchdown run, but Carter connected with Davis for an 86-yard score and hit Ademola Faleye from 15-yards out in the second quarter and the Spartans held a 17-13 lead at intermission. Alonzo Graham ran 34 yards for a touchdown to put Morgan State on top 20-17 early in the third qu arter but the Spartans (6-2, 2-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) answered with a Davis touchdown run and a Carter-to-Anthony Williams pass to regain the lead for good. Carter was 26 of 40 for 368 yards and did not throw an interception. Davis had three catches for 94 yards and finished with 225 all-purpose yards. Neil Boudreau was 14 of 28 for 123 yards and a touchdown to lead Morgan State (0-8, 0-4), but threw two interceptions. - AP College Football

Juwan Carter went 26-of-29 passing for 332 yards and Norfolk State led the entire way in a 45-31 win over Howard on Saturday. Carter set a school record with 21-straight completions. The Spartans (5-2, 1-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) now have won fi ve straight; their longest streak since 2011. Carter's 89.7% completion rate is the second-best in school history, trailing only Chris Walley's 90.9% (20-of-22) set against Morgan State in 2010. Cameryn Brent ran for a pair of touchdowns, carrying 10 tim es for 99 yards. Justin Smith caught seven passes for 147 yards and was among 10 Spartans to catch a pass. Trailing 28-3 lead early in the third quarter, Howard's Quinton Williams scored on a 1-year sneak, and later, Ian Wheeler scored on a 96-yard kicko ff return for the Bison following a Norfolk State field goal. Juwan Carter passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third to lead Norfolk State's 42-14 victory over NCCAA-member Virginia Lynchburg on Saturday. The Spartans (4-2) struck quickly, scoring 28 points in the first quarter on drives of 1, 3, 2, and 3 plays . Carter threw 42 yards to J. Smith for the first touchdown then ran 26 yards for the next. Kevin Johnson and Cameryn Brunt added short touchdown runs. The Dragons' first score came when Norfolk State's Tremayne Talbert fumbled a punt and Keenan Smith re covered for the touchdown. After Carter hit Talbert for a 21-yard TD pass, Lynchburg (0-7) scored its other touchdown, a 20-yard pass from Darrius Sample to Cinsere Clark as Norfolk State led 35-14 at halftime. Juwan Carter scored a walkoff touchdown from the 1 and Norfolk State clipped Hampton 47-44 in overtime Saturday in the Battle of the Bay. Hampton (2-2) had knotted the score at 41-41 with 12 seconds remaining in regulation when Jett Duffey hooked up with Jadakis Bonds on a 17-yard touchdown pass. The Pirates struck first in OT on an Alex Perez 28-yard field goal. But Norfolk State (3-2) was remorseless on its overtime possession, with Carter finding Justin Smith with a 22-yard pass to set up first-and-g oal from the 3. Lex Henry pounded forward for two more yards, and Carter snuck in from the 1 with the game-winner. Carter was 17-of-31 passing for 294 yards and touchdown throws of six yards to Marcque Ellington and 70 to Smith. Carter also carried 17 ti mes for 92 yards and three more touchdowns. Carter gave the Spartans the lead with a 4-yard scramble early in the third quarter. After the Red Flash turned the ball over on downs at their 47, Norfolk State extended its lead with Carter's 7-yard pass to Justin Smith, the pair's fourth scoring connection this season. Juwan Carter fired five touchdown passes as Norfolk State pummeled Division II Elizabeth City State, 63-26 on Saturday. Carter engineered three first-quarter touchdown drives to give the Spartans a 21-0 lead, and after Kevin Caldwell threw a 71-yard touc hdown pass to Brandon Joyner to get the Vikings on the board, Norfolk scored four more touchdowns to build a 49-7 lead after three quarters. Carter was 23 of 30 passing for 353 yards without an interception. J.J. Juwan Carter threw two touchdown passes, Justin Smith had 106 yards receiving and a score and Norfolk State beat North Carolina Central 38-21 on Saturday. Norfolk State (4-6, 3-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic) never trailed. Half of Smith's receiving yards came o n a 53-yard touchdown catch from Carter for 10-0 lead with 3:50 left in the first quarter. The Eagles got back in it when Davius Richard threw a 26-yard scoring pass to Treveyon Pratt just before the end of the quarter. Kevin Johnson's 2-yard TD run made it a 17-7 lead. Early in the third, Richard threw a 23-yard TD pass to Daeshawn Stephens to reduce the deficit to three, but they never got closer. The Spartans (3-6, 2/3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) avenged last season's loss to Morgan State (1-8, 1-5), their first loss to the Bears since 2006. Carter hit Da'Kendall James with an 80-yard touchdown pass on the Spartans' second play from scrimmage, added a 25-yard TD pass to Justin Smith and capped the first half with a 14-yard touchdown run for a 31-0 lead.Carter threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Tylan McElhenie midway through the third quarter and finished 16 of 28 for 314 yards passing. Rayquan Smith ran for 142 yards and Kevin Johnson added a touchdown run for Norfolk State. Devyn Coles had two of the Spartans five interceptions. Nhyre' Quinerly ran an interception 48 yards into the end zone early in the fourth. Morgan State was held to 153 yards of offense.
