Jacob Harris, Central Florida, Player News
|
As a native of the Tampa Bay area, Jacob Harris grew up rooting for the hometown Buccaneers. He quickly identified with receiver Mike Evans, whose 6-foot-5 lanky frame reminded Harris of his build, providing him with inspiration as he took off on his foo tball path. But as the former UCF receiver begins the next step toward a possible NFL career, the thought of someday playing for the Bucs is intriguing. "That would mean a lot to my family," Harris said. "I'm a Tampa boy and I would love to go to Tampa, but I'm open to going anywhere. It doesn't matter where I land." Harris was among 10 former UCF players taking part in the program's Pro Day Thursday, each looking to make their case before the April 29-May 1 draft. The 6-5, 219-pounder caught the attent ion of many of the representatives from all 32 NFL teams on hand at Nicholson Fieldhouse when he ran the 40-yard dash in a blazing 4.39 seconds. "I didn't surpass my expectations, but I wanted to run a little bit faster than that," said Harris, who decla red for the NFL draft after three seasons with the Knights. "I'm happy with how the day went. There's not much I can complain about." - Orlando Sentinel

UCF receiver Jacob Harris is the latest Knight to announce his departure from the program in order to prepare for the upcoming NFL draft. At 6-foot-5, Harris developed into a tremendous target during the past two seasons. He had career highs in reception s (30), receiving yards (539) and touchdowns (8) this season while assuming a larger role with the departure of Gabe Davis and the injury to Nixon. - Orlando Sentinel
