There's a new passing touchdown king at Memphis and it's Brady White. White's 48-yard pass to Tahj Washington in the first quarter against Stephen F. Austin on Saturday gave him 82 for his career, passing Danny Wimprine for the all-time lead in Memphis h istory. It also came on Senior Day as White was one of 17 seniors honored pregame. White's first touchdown came in his first game in 2018 on a 45-yard pass to Damonte Coxie against Mercer. It's another record in his Tigers career as White's 24 wins are t he most by a Memphis starting quarterback. He's also approaching Wimprine's school record of 10,215 passing yards as White entered Saturday with 9.438 passing yards."When I first stepped on campus, I didn't think about crap for records. I thought about just bringing in wins to this program and helping this program elevate," White said this week. "My first year, I think I said after the bowl game it was a great learning experience and a really good environment to be thrown into. "At the end of the day, I hope to be all-time guy in every area. That'd be great but that's not my focus and that's not my goal...I want to win as much as possible, however that comes, is what matters." - Memphis Commercial Appeal

Brady White was blunt in giving SMU credit for winning 30-27 Saturday. The Memphis quarterback was equally blunt describing his three turnovers, including a fumble that set up SMU's game-winning drive in the final minutes. "They obviously did enough to w in but we should've definitely won that game," White said. "I've got to do a better job at capitalizing to help this offense take advantage of those changes (the defense) gives us and obviously finishing the game off there at the end." Memphis shouldn't have been in position to win in Dallas after trailing 24-3 in the second quarter. The Tigers looked slow and rusty after 28 days off due to a COVD-19 outbreak, and White's two first-half interceptions didn't help.Yet there the Tigers (1-1, 0-1 AAC ) were with 3:14 left. White led a drive into SMU territory thanks to a 32-yard pass to Calvin Austin III. There was hope Riley Patterson, who equaled a school and AAC record with a 56-yard field goal, would deliver once again. White's fumble, courtesy o f a strip sack by SMU's Junior Aho, sealed the Tigers' fate. "At the end, you got to hold the ball no matter what," White said. "I had two hands on it but can't cough it up." After 11 days of not practicing and two weeks of transitioning back, it was ea sy to explain the Tigers' poor performance. The secondary gave up two long touchdowns to SMU receiver Reggie Roberson on third-down plays. - Memphis Commercial Appeal
