2020 NFL COMBINE INVITE: James Lynch, DT, Baylor,...Named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year by the conference coaches and the AP, Lynch is the Bears' all-time sack record holder with 21.0 career sacks, along with being the single-season record hold er with 12.5 in 2019. The Round Rock, Texas, native amassed 39 total tackles on the year, defended five passes, forced three fumbles, recovered two more and blocked two kicks as he started all 13 games on the defensive line. All-America defensive end James Lynch says he is bypassing his senior season at Baylor for early entry into the NFL draft. Lynch announced his decision in a social media post Monday, and said that choosing Baylor was the best decision of his life. The 6- foot-4, 295-pound defender said he was proud to be part of the team's turnaround from 11 losses two years ago to 11-3 this season. The Bears played in the Big 12 championship game and the Sugar Bowl. The Big 12 defensive player of the year finished his j unior season with 13 1/2 sacks and 19 1/2 tackles for loss, both single-season school records. In his 38 games at Baylor, he set school records with his 22 career sacks. - AP College Football

Lynch, the 2019 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and Lineman of the Year, led the Big 12 with 10.5 sacks on the year and is a half a sack shy of tying the Baylor record for sacks in a season. He also ranks tied for the third in the conference with 15.5 tackles for loss. A unanimous First Team All-Big 1 2 selection, Lynch is the all-time Baylor career record holder for sacks (19.0) and helped the Bears tie the program record for sacks in a season (40.0).
