Busy preparing for the 2020 National Football League draft, former Wisconsin tailback Jonathan Taylor made time to enter into an intriguing business deal. Taylor recently signed a marketing agreement with Toppers Pizza, which includes co-ownership of four Dane County franchises. "That is something that is really huge to me," Taylor said in a video announcing the agreement, "because I used to live down the street from Toppers and it's something I was always a fan of since I've been in school at the university. "I'm looking forward to extending that relationship." - Journal Sentinel

The fastest running back in Indianapolis also measured in bigger than his two nearest competitors, J.K. Dobbins of Ohio State and D'Andre Swift of Georgia, to be the first runner selected. He outran Swift in the 40 (4.48) with a 4.39, and posted better numbers in the vertical jump and broad jump than Swift, too. An injured ankle, meanwhile, limited Dobbins to only the bench press. Dobbins had 23 reps compared with 17 for Taylor. - AP College Football

2020 NFL COMBINE INVITE: Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin,...A two-time Doak Walker Award winner and two-time unanimous first-team All-American, Taylor will go down as one of the greats to ever play the position. He finished his career with 6,174 rushing yards and 55 total touchdowns to highlight a collection of accomplishments and records almost too long to list. The first player in FBS history to rush for 6,000 yards in just three seasons, Taylor stands No. 6 all-time in rushing with his 6,174 career yards. That total represents the FBS record for most yards in a three-year span - by a margin of more than 500 yards over the second-place total.

Taylor finished his junior season with 2,003 rushing yards to become just the third player in FBS history with multiple 2,000-yard rushing seasons, joining Badgers legend Ron Dayne and Iowa State's Troy Davis. Taylor is the only FBS player to record three consecutive seasons of 1,900-plus yards. His combined 4,197 yards over his sophomore and junior seasons are the most by any player in a two-year span in FBS history, breaking the previous mark of fellow Badger Melvin Gordon (4,196, 2013-14). - Wisconsin Football

Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor is headed to the NFL. The record-setting junior announced Friday on Twitter and Instagram that he will forgo his senior season with the Badgers and enter the NFL draft. The two-time Doak Walker Award winner and two-time unanimous first-team All-American finished his college career with 6,174 yards rushing, the most by any player in FBS history through their junior season. Taylor also had 55 total touchdowns in his three seasons. The 5-foot-11, 214-pound Taylor looks to be the first Wisconsin tailback selected in the NFL draft since Montee Ball (2013), James White (2014) and Melvin Gordon (2015) were drafted in three consecutive seasons. Wisconsin's Derek Watt was selected as a fullback in 2016. - AP College Football

Jack Coan delivered two momentum-shifting touchdown passes in the snow for No. 13 Wisconsin, Jonathan Taylor added three touchdowns to his FBS-leading total and the Badgers forcefully repossessed Paul Bunyan's Axe by beating No. 9 Minnesota 38-17 on Saturday to win the Big Ten West Division. Quintez Cephus caught five passes for 114 yards, including a 47-yarder for a score midway through the third quarter that gave Wisconsin (10-2, 7-2, No. 12 CFP) a 17-7 lead. Coan connected with Taylor for a 28-yard touchdown strike late in the second quarter that gave the Badgers the lead after a slow start, sending them to the Big Ten championship game for a rematch with second-ranked Ohio State.

Tanner Morgan passed for 296 yards and two touchdowns for the Gophers (10-2, 7-2). They watched their dream season take a painful hit from their oldest rival after ending a 14-game losing streak to the Badgers a year ago with a 37-15 victory at Wisconsin. Minnesota was seeking to go undefeated at home for the first time since 1954, but the Badgers reasserted their recent dominance by taking home the traveling trophy for the 22nd time in the last 25 seasons. They took a 61-60-8 series lead. - Wisconsin/AP College Football

Jonathan Taylor rushed for at least 200 yards for the 12th time in his career and No. 14 Wisconsin defeated Purdue 45-24 on Saturday in the Badgers' final home game of the season. Taylor finished with 222 yards and one touchdown on 28 carries for Wisconsin (9-2, 6-2 Big Ten, No. 12 CFP), which extended its winning streak over the Boilermakers to 14 games. The junior has a career average of 254 yards rushing in three games against Purdue. Jack Coan completed 15 of 19 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns against one interception for the Badgers.

With the loss, the Boilermakers (4-7, 3-5) dropped their seventh straight at Camp Randall Stadium and failed to qualify for a bowl game. Purdue's Aidan O'Connell finished with a career-high 289 yards passing with two scores. It took the Badgers just over three minutes to get on the scoreboard. Aaron Cruickshank took a direct snap out of the wildcat formation and capped an eight-play, 75-yard opening drive with a 27-yard rushing touchdown. After a 28-yard field goal by Purdue's J.D. Dellinger, Taylor scored from 51 yards out for his FBS-leading 22nd TD of the season. - AP College Football

Jonathan Taylor ran for 204 yards and two touchdowns, Aaron Cruickshank ran back a kickoff 89 yards for a score, and No. 15 Wisconsin beat Nebraska 37-21 on Saturday. Taylor became the first Football Bowl Subdivision player since at least 2000 to run for 200 yards three times against the same team, according to Sportradar. He had 221 against the Cornhuskers last year and 249 in 2017. The junior recorded his 11th 200-yard game, moving into a four-way tie for most in a career by an FBS player. The Badgers (8-2, 5-2 Big Ten, No. 14 CFP) quickly erased a 14-10 deficit in the second quarter.

Jack Coan threw over the middle to A.J. Taylor, who spun away from two defenders and ran the rest of the way untouched for a 55-yard touchdown. Wisconsin linebacker Jack Sanborn intercepted a tipped ball on the first play of Nebraska's next series, and Taylor ran in from the 1 to finish a short drive that put the Badgers ahead 24-14. The Huskers (4-6, 2-5) have lost four straight and five of their last six. They've dropped 10 in a row against Top 25 opponents. Taylor averaged 8.2 yards on his 25 carries. He had his third 200-yard game of the season against a Nebraska defense that was missing starting linemen Darrion Daniels and Carlos Davis. Early on it looked like Taylor might be outplayed by Nebraska's Dedrick Mills. The junior college transfer who spent his freshman year at Georgia Tech ran for a career-high 188 yards and a touchdown. Cruickshank had Wisconsin's first kick return for a touchdown since 2015 against Maryland. It came in the first quarter, right after the Huskers had taken a 7-0 lead. - AP College Football

Jonathan Taylor rushed for a season-high 250 yards and Danny Davis ran for a touchdown and caught another as No. 16 Wisconsin outlasted No. 18 Iowa 24-22 on Saturday. Taylor became the first running back this season to rush for more than 100 yards against Iowa, as Wisconsin (7-2, 4-2 Big Ten, No. 13 College Football Playoff) held on to the Heartland Trophy, given each year to the winner of this game. The Badgers have beaten Iowa four straight times. "We had to close the game out," said Taylor, who rushed for 130 yards in the fourth quarter alone. "So you've got to make sure you're being efficient and you're playing your best ball."

Taylor's 250 yards on 31 carries are the most ever by a Wisconsin player against Iowa, surpassing the previous high of 216 by Ron Dayne in 1999. "Taylor, what an exceptional player he is," Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said. "He certainly proved that tonight. We were very impressed with that performance." Quintez Cephus caught five passes for 94 yards and his fourth touchdown of the season to help Wisconsin stay in contention for the Big Ten West crown. Davis' two scores - a 17-yard run and a 4-yard reception - helped the Badgers take a 14-6 lead at halftime. - Wisconsin/AP College Football

Taylor is rushing for 126 yards per game to ranked fifth in the nation and second in the Big Ten and went over 100 yards in his last two games against Iowa. The No. 18 Hawkeyes (6-2, 3-2, No. 18) are the only team that hasn't allowed a run over 20 yards. - AP College Football

Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor averages 149 yards per game for the No. 8 Badgers (5-0, 2-0) to rank second in the nation and, undoubtedly, saw J.K. Dobbins slice through the Spartans for 172 of Ohio State's 323 rushing yards. It was the most allowed by Michigan State (4-2, 2-1) since the Buckeyes ran for 335 in 2017. MSU led the conference in run defense the last two years and is surely looking for redemption.   Jonathan Taylor had four rushing touchdowns and caught a TD pass, Zack Baun had a career-high three sacks, and the eighth-ranked Badgers coasted to a 48-0 win over Kent State on Saturday. Taylor had 19 rushes for 186 yards, eclipsing the 100-yard mark for the 27th time in 32 career games with the Badgers (5-0). Baun's three sacks led a Wisconsin defense that pitched its third shutout of the season. The Badgers, who entered the day with the nation's top-ranked defense, held Kent State (2-3) to 124 yards of total offense. Chris Orr, the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts against Northwestern, added two sacks for a unit that has allowed four touchdowns through five games.

Dustin Crum and Woody Barrett combined for just 64 yards on 10-of-17 passing. Most of those yards came on a 28-yard completion to receiver Raymond James. The Golden Flashes, coached by former Wisconsin quarterback and tight end Sean Lewis, have played two ranked opponents this season and been outscored 103-16 in those matchups. Kent State lost to then-No. 8 Auburn 55-16 on Sept. 14. Taylor scored from 6 yards on the opening drive. The junior running back now has a touchdown on each of the Badgers' five opening drives this season. Wisconsin is the only team in the FBS to open each game with a touchdown. Taylor scored four first-half touchdowns before the Golden Flashes had their third first down. Taylor also crossed the goal line on 19-, 4- and 48-yard runs. Taylor and quarterback Jack Coan linked up for an 18-yard score that made it 28-0 at halftime. - Wisconsin/AP College Football

The 2018 Doak Walker Award winner already has 16 touchdowns this season. That's the most by any FBS player in his team's first five games since Ricky Williams had 20 for Texas in 1998.   Jonathan Taylor ran for 119 yards and his 11th touchdown of the season, Wisconsin got two scores from its defense, and the eighth-ranked Badgers remained unbeaten with a 24-15 win over Northwestern on Saturday. Taylor carried 26 times to help Wisconsin (4-0, 2-0 Big Ten) avenge its 31-17 loss to the Wildcats last season. The junior reached 100 yards rushing for the 26th time in 31 career games and moved into fourth place on the Badgers' career rushing list (4,730). After allowing 81 yards rushing through the first three games, the Wisconsin defense surrendered 97 yards on the ground to Northwestern (1-3, 0-2).

The Badgers' defense sacked backup quarterback Aidan Smith once and starter Hunter Johnson three times, including one by safety Eric Burrell that caused a fumble by Johnson in the end zone. Matt Henningsen recovered to make it 14-3 in the third quarter for Wisconsin. Noah Burks added the other after intercepting Smith and returning it 68 yards down the Wisconsin sideline. Johnson went 10-for-21 and Smith completed 8 of 19 passes and had a late 15-yard touchdown to JJ Jefferson. Drake Anderson had 16 carries for 69 yards and a 4-yard score for the defending Big Ten West champion Wildcats, who dropped their second straight game conference game. Charlie Kuhbander added a 29-yard field goal for Northwestern. Chris Orr had two sacks and Collin Wilder added another for a Badgers' defense that is allowing just 7.3 points per game through the first four contests. - Wisconsin/AP College Football

Pat Fitzgerald is one of Jonathan Taylor's biggest fans. In fact, Northwestern's coach said he feels Wisconsin's All-American running back is the best player in the country. "If I had a Heisman vote right now, he's getting my vote," Fitzgerald said. "He's playing outstanding, absolutely outstanding, football... JT's been a great player since the minute he walked into this league, and he's playing at as high of a level as any running back that I've seen in my time here." Fitzgerald and the Wildcats (1-2, 0-1 Big Ten) will look to slow down the 2018 Doak Walker Award winner when they face the eighth-ranked Badgers (3-0, 1-0) on Saturday.

Taylor was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts against Michigan last week. Taylor scored twice and became the first Wisconsin player in history to rush for at least 200 yards (203) against the Wolverines. Taylor has rushed for at least 100 yards in 25 of his 30 career games. None of those 25 games were against the Wildcats, who are coming off a loss to Michigan State. Taylor has faced Northwestern twice in his career and has been held to a total of 126 yards on 30 carries, just 4.2 yards per carry and 63 per game. He had just 46 yards on 11 carries and two fumbles in a 31-17 loss on the road to the Wildcats last season. "Those guys play well off blocks," Taylor said of the Northwestern defenders. "They fill gaps really well and they play with length." - AP College Football

Wisconsin moved into the top 10 for the first time this season, landing at No. 8 in The Associated Press college football poll after a weekend during which seven ranked teams lost. The top of the AP Top 25 presented by Regions Bank remained mostly unchanged, with Clemson staying No. 1, followed by three Southeastern Conference teams: No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Georgia and No. 4 LSU. Ohio State edged past Oklahoma to No. 5. Clemson received 55 first-place votes from the media panel. Alabama had six and Georgia received one. Auburn moved up a spot to No. 7 after beating Texas A&M 28-20 and Wisconsin jumped five spots to No. 8 after defeating Michigan 35-14. Florida remained No. 9 and Notre Dame slipped three spots to No. 10 after losing 23-17 at Georgia. - AP College Football

Jonathan Taylor ran for 203 yards and two touchdowns, Jack Coan added a career-high two rushing touchdowns and No. 13 Wisconsin made it look easy in a 35-14 victory over No. 11 Michigan on Saturday. Taylor had 143 yards and both scores in the first quarter, including a 72-yarder. He missed the second quarter due to cramps, but the 2018 Doak Walker Award winner returned in the third to finish with 23 carries to help the Badgers (3-0, 1-0 Big Ten) avenge a 38-13 loss to the Wolverines last season in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Michigan's struggles to hold on to the ball continued as the Wolverines suffered another embarrassing loss under coach Jim Harbaugh. Michigan is 1-6 on the road against ranked opponents under Harbaugh, who took over the program in 2015. The game was so lopsided that the 80,248 in attendance chanted "overrated, overrated" to a Michigan team expected to contend for the Big Ten championship. Michigan also had to make a quarterback change. Harbaugh elected to bench Shea Patterson late in the first half in favor of backup quarterback Dylan McCaffrey. Patterson, who fumbled twice in each of Michigan's first two games, left after completing 4 of 9 passes with 88 yards and an interception. - Wisconsin/AP College Football

Jonathan Taylor is off and running. Catching, too. Taking up where he left off a year ago, when he led the nation in rushing with 2,194 yards and 16 touchdowns, Taylor ran for 135 yards and accounted for four TDs to help No. 19 Wisconsin open the season with a 49-0 rout of South Florida on Friday night. The junior scored on runs of 37 and 38 yards and also had the first two receiving TDs of his career as the Badgers strive to become a more balanced team on offense. "You work all offseason like I did, and to have that receiving touchdown come to life, I'm really excited about that," said Taylor, who scooted 36 yards up the left sideline after taking a quick flip from Jack Coan in the second quarter. "It motivates you to see that hard work pay off."

Taylor's second TD reception gave the Badgers a 28-0 lead just before halftime. He finished with two catches for 48 yards after having just eight for 60 yards last season. "Jonathan was good in a lot of different ways. He was awfully patient on one run, and he had the little screen that he took," Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst said. "You get him in space and he's pretty good." Wisconsin's defense delivered a dominating performance, too, limiting South Florida to 157 yards total offense and forcing three turnovers, including a fumble that Matt Henningsen returned 16 yards for a second quarter touchdown. The loss was the seventh straight for USF, which dropped the final six games of 2018 after starting 7-0 and climbing into the Top 25. - AP College Football

Jonathan Taylor is one of the best running backs in college football. He would be the first to say his success isn't due to just one person. There are, of course, his parents, Elizabeth Taylor and Jonathan James, and several other family members and coaches. But a single observation by a mentor helped change the entire trajectory of Taylor's success as a runner. "I went in and I said, 'Hey, run track. You need to run track,'" recalled Wisconsin running backs coach John Settle.

Settle, who is in his 10th season mentoring the Badgers' rushers, was drawn to Taylor's work ethic while recruiting the New Jersey native in high school. Settle said he noticed watching game film that something was missing from Taylor's repertoire: Breakaway speed. "His junior year, he wasn't breaking any long ones," Settle said. "Everybody was running him down, you know, running him out of bounds. All of a sudden (after running track), he shows up as a senior, and he was leaving people. So about the second or third game, we offered him (a scholarship)." - AP College Football

The race for the top individual awards in college football this season will have some standout players seeking repeats. Wisconsin's Jonathan Taylor won the Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back last season, while Alabama's Jerry Jeudy earned the Fred Biletnikoff Award as the most outstanding receiver. Both players are back for their junior seasons. Taylor discussed his award candidacy by talking about the advice he's received from former Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield and former Doak Walker Award winner Bryce Love.

"The thing that they mentioned to me about the award was they're just going out there to try to win games," Taylor said. "Now I feel I'm taking that into consideration. As long as I'm going out there and trying to win games, everything will fall into place." Taylor is trying to become the first player to win the Doak Walker in back-to-back seasons since Arkansas' Darren McFadden in 2006-07. The only other player to win this award in consecutive years was Texas' Ricky Williams in 1997-98. - AP College Football
