2019 ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): Ahmari Davis, Sr., RB,...A running back from Oakland, Calif., Davis accounted for 832 yards on 140 carries on the season in nine games, and averaged 5.94 yards per carry with seven touchdowns. He finish ed third among running backs in the league in yards per game and was tied for second in overall yards per attempt. In conference games, Davis tallied 471 yards in five games played, averaging 94.2 yards per game and 6.83 yards per carry.Against Ha wai'i on Oct. 26, Davis finished with a season-high 200 yards on the ground, the second-highest total amongst rushing performances in conference competition. In addition, Davis registered his longest run of the season coming against the Rainbow Warriors at 67 yards and scored a season-high two touchdowns in the contest. Davis missed the final three games of the season with a torn ACL. Ahmari Davis scored two touchdowns and Andrew Shelly made four field goals to lead New Mexico to a 39-31 victory over Sam Houston State on Saturday night as the opener for both schools was tempered by news that Lobos coach Bob Davie was hospitalized afte r the game with what the school described as a serious medical issue. "There was an incident with Coach Davie," said New Mexico associate athletic director David Williams. "There will not be a press conference. No players, no coaches."The universi ty later said Davie was "taken to the hospital as a result of what appeared to be a serious medical condition" and more information would be released as it became available. The 64-year-old coach was taken away by ambulance with his wife in the front sea t. Davis, who broke three plays for more than 40 yards, finished with 107 yards rushing and another 58 receiving. He had 183 total yards all of last season. Sheriron Jones, playing in relief of starting quarterback Brandt Hughes, ran for two second-half touchdowns to help the Lobos break open the game. - AP College Football
