BYU's leading rusher Ty'Son Williams confirmed that the knee injury he suffered on Saturday against Washington will cost him the rest of the year on his Twitter and Instagram accounts. BYU running back Ty'Son Williams did not play in the second half after suffering an apparent knee injury late in the second quarter. The injury occurred after he caught a 16-yard pass for a first down at the Washington 31. Williams finished with 28 yards on six carries and 17 yards on two receptions. With the senior on the sidelines for the final two quarters, BYU mustered just 79 total rushing yards and averaged 2.9 yards per carry. "He's a workhorse, he just runs so hard. He wants us to succeed. That one hurt," Bushman said. BYU had no immediate update on the severity of Williams' injury or how much time he's expected to miss. - AP College Football

Ty'Son Williams scored a 5-yard touchdown run in the second overtime after BYU made a stunning drive for a game-tying field goal in the closing seconds of regulation as the Cougars edged Tennessee 29-26 on Saturday. BYU (1-1) rallied from a 13-3 halftime deficit and forced overtime when Zach Wilson's 64-yard completion to Micah Simon set up Jake Oldroyd's third field goal of the night - a 33-yarder with one second left. The Cougars got the ball first in overtime and scored on Zach Wilson's 14-yard touch down pass to Talon Shumway. Tennessee tied it when Jarrett Guarantano found Jauan Jennings across the middle for a 13-yard completion.Tennessee opened the second overtime session by settling for Brent Cimaglia's fourth field goal of the night, a 4 0-yarder that gave the Vols a 26-23 lead. BYU then sealed the win on Williams' bruising touchdown run. The South Carolina graduate transfer appeared to be stopped just a few yards short of the end zone, but he kept running and finally got across the goal line with some help from his linemen. Williams ended the night with 92 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 17 carries. Wilson was 19 of 29 for 232 yards. - AP College Football

Saturday was the first chance BYU coaches and players got a first-hand look at what running back Ty'Son Williams can do against a live defense. The grad transfer from South Carolina obviously made an impression during a 107-play scrimmage at LaVell Edwar ds Stadium, as did fellow backs Lopini Katoa and Emmanuel Esukpa, another grad transfer. "I had him (Williams) break the team (huddle) because he stuck out today," BYU head coach Kalani Sitake said. "He's really starting to feel more comfortable in the p rogram. He did some really good things today. Lopini, Ty'Son and Emmanuel all did some good things today. From what I can tell and how I can evaluate, I think the guy is a special player."Offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes gave his evaluation of Wi lliams' performance. "He's exactly what we're looking for in a back," Grimes said. "He's an all-purpose back. He can run, he can catch, he can block and he's a willing blocker. A lot of tailbacks don't like that. He showed the ability today to break a ta ckle or make a guy miss. You think you have that in a back but you don't really know until you go live. A couple of the other backs did the same thing, but he (Williams) certainly did a nice job." - Daily Herald
