  2019 ALL-PSAC FOOTBALL WESTERN DIVISION FIRST TEAM (COACHES): OT Chris Larsen, Slippery Rock, Sr., Erie, Pa./Erie McDowell,...Larsen earns his first career All-PSAC honor after starting every game this fall at the left tackle position. A nominee for the Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year Award, Larsen has graded out at 88 percent for the season after playing more than 700 snaps on one of the best ranked offensive units in the nation.

  2019 PSAC WEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Roland Rivers III, Slippery Rock,...Rivers III is the fourth The Rock athlete to garner the award while it marks the sixth time Slippery Rock has boasted the winner. He is the first since 2013 (Nigel Barksdale). Rivers III has been electric all season and was named the MVP of the PSAC Championship after leading The Rock to a thrilling 37-35 win. The senior threw for 302 yards and rushed for 53 while amassing four touchdowns in the victory. Rivers III currently leads all of DII in touchdown passes (40), passing efficiency (192.70) and points responsible for per game (25.3). He is third in passing yards (3409). The senior has thrown at least four touchdowns passes on seven occasions and turned in a pair of six-touchdown efforts (Sep. 5 & Sept 21).   Five Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Football teams were selected to participate in the NCAA DII Football Championship, the NCAA announced Sunday evening. Twelve first-round games will be conducted on the campus of one of the competing institutions. In addition, one team per super regional has earned a first-round bye. The first-round winners will all advance to the second round with games on the campus of one of the competing institutions. Second-round winners will meet in the quarterfinals at various campus sites. Quarterfinal winners will advance to play in the semifinals on the campus of one of the competing institutions. Seven teams selected per super regional make up the field of 28 teams. It marks the first time the league has boasted five postseason teams in the sport.

Slippery Rock (11-0) entered the week at No. 8 in the American Football Coaches’ Association Poll and earned the No. 1 seed in Super Region 1 and will receive a first-round bye. The Rock will participate in the postseason for the 10th time in school history and fifth time this decade. Coach Shawn Lutz’s team boasts the fifth-highest scoring offense in the country (46.9). Senior quarterback Roland Rivers III is third in the country in passing yards (3409). Slippery Rock won the PSAC title with a thrilling 37-35 win.   NOV 11 PSAC FOOTBALL WESTERN DIVISION OFFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Roland Rivers III, Slippery Rock (Sr./QB), Ellenwood, Ga./Martin Luther King,...Rivers III was nearly perfect in leading a dominant showing from No. 9 Slippery Rock in a 56-7 win at Gannon. He completed 20-of-26 passes (77%) for 293 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions and finished his day with 308 total yards of offense in less than three quarters of work. Rivers also set the Slippery Rock single-season and career TD passing records with 36 TD passes in 10 games this year and 64 TD passes in just 22 games at The Rock.   Slippery Rock has been tabbed the favorite to win the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Football Western Division following the preseason poll as selected by the league's head coaches, the league office announced Monday. Slippery Rock garnered six of the eight possible first-place votes after claiming the Western Division in 2018 before advancing to the NCAA DII Football Quarterfinals. The Rock returns 11 starters on defense and are three wins shy of 600 overall as program.

Slippery Rock finished ranked No. 7 in the NCAA DII National Poll released by the American Football Coaches Association. The Rock returns first-team all-conference quarterback Roland Rivers III. Rivers III turned in 3,318 yards of total offense while amassing 35 touchdowns. Coach Shawn Lutz's defense stymied the rushing attack after holding teams to 140.6 yards per contest; which was second-lowest in the PSAC.
