  2025 CUSA CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Jacob Fields, LA Tech,...Fields started all 12 games at safety and led the team with 92 stops, becoming the first defensive back to lead LA Tech in tackles since 2014. He tallied three interceptions for 123 yards, including two pick sixes, 2.5 tackles for loss and five pass breakups. Fields recorded three games with double-digit tackles, including a career-high 14 versus Liberty. He led Tech in tackles in each of the final eight games of the season. Fields finished with seven stops and an 85-yard pick six against Sam Houston, eight tackles and a 38-yard pick six at Delaware, 11 stops versus WKU and 10 tackles with one tackle for loss at LSU. - Conference USA Football

  Quarterback Trey Kukuk had three touchdown runs, Andrew Burnette added two more and the pair combined for 304 yards rushing to lead Louisiana Tech to a 42-30 victory over Missouri State on Saturday in a Conference USA regular-season finale. The teams combined for 34 points in the fourth quarter. Kukuk's 2-yard touchdown run capped a 78-yard, 16-play drive that chewed up about eight minutes to stretch the Bulldogs' lead to 28-17 with 14:12 remaining in the fourth quarter. Jacob Clark answered for the Bears on the next play from scrimmage with a 75-yard touchdown pass to Jeron Askren.

Devin Gandy then broke loose on a 93-yard touchdown run on the ensuing kickoff to make it 35-23. It took six plays later for the Bears to answer with Ramone Green Jr.'s 12-yard touchdown run to get Missouri State within 35-30 with 6:44 to play. Kukuk's 58-yard touchdown run capped the scoring with 3:44 left. Clark threw an interception to Jakari Foster on the Bears' final possession. Kukuk finished with 172 yards rushing. Burnette added 132 yards that included a 98-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. They each had 16 carries. Clark was 17-of-31 passing for 294 yards and threw two touchdown passes. Shomari Lawrence had 84 yards rushing on 13 carries with a 56-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Louisiana Tech (7-5, 5-3) clinched bowl eligibility last week with its 34-28 win over Liberty.   WEEK 13 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jakari Foster, LA Tech - R-Sr. - S - Piedmont, Ala.,...Foster came up with two critical interceptions in LA Tech's 34-28 OT win over Liberty on Saturday and added eight tackles. His two picks were among four recorded by Tech safeties. His first came late in the third quarter with the Bulldogs (6-5, 4-3 CUSA) down 28-14 and Liberty driving. Foster intercepted a pass at Tech's four-yard line, setting up a 96-yard scoring drive that made it 28-21. His second interception was the biggest of the night, as he picked off Ethan Vasko's pass in the end zone on Liberty's first overtime possession.   Andrew Burnette had three touchdown runs that included a 25-yarder in overtime, Jakari Foster had two of Louisiana Tech's four interceptions, and the Bulldogs overcame a 21-point, third-quarter deficit to beat Liberty 34-28 on Saturday night. Foster picked off an Ethan Vasko pass on the second play of overtime before Burnette broke loose for the game winner on the next play. Vasko threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Jenkins that stretched Liberty's lead to 28-7 with 7:39 remaining in the third quarter, but he ended the Flames' next three drives with interceptions.

Trey Kukuk completed 13 of 20 passes for 118 yards and scored twice on the ground, finishing with 143 yards on 19 carries. Burnette added 93 yards rushing on 17 carries for Louisiana Tech (6-5, 4-3 Conference USA). Kukuk had a 31-yard touchdown run and a 29-yarder, sandwiched around a Burnette 3-yard TD run, that tied it 28-all with 7:05 left in the fourth quarter. Evan Dickens ran the ball 30 times for 228 yards and had two touchdowns for Liberty (4-7, 3-4).   WEEK 10 CONFERENCE USA OFFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK: Landon Nelson, LA Tech - R-Sr. - C - Underwood, Iowa,...Nelson made his seventh start of the season at center and helped the Bulldogs rush for 425 yards, the third most in school history (most since 1991), and six touchdowns on the ground (most since 2015). The Bulldogs had two running backs rush for over 100 yards, marking the first time since Nov. 18, 2017, versus UTEP that two Bulldogs eclipsed 100 yards on the ground in the same game. Tech's 55 points were the most points scored by the Bulldogs since Sept. 26, 2020.   Clay Thevenin rushed for 143 yards and three scores, Blake Baker had a touchdown pass and a touchdown run and Louisiana Tech breezed to a 55-14 victory over Sam Houston on Friday night. Baker completed 17 of 21 passes for 221 yards with an interception to help Louisiana Tech (5-3, 3-2 Conference USA) beat winless Sam Houston (0-8, 0-5). He added 42 yards on seven carries. Baker threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Devin Gandy on the game-opening drive, and Thevenin added a 6-yard touchdown run midway through for a 14-0 lead after one quarter.

Thevenin ended an 82-yard drive with a 50-yard touchdown run and the Bulldogs led 21-0 early in the second. Baker ran it in from a yard out to cap an eight-play 95-yard drive and Louisiana Tech led 27-0 at halftime after the extra-point kick was missed. Elijah Green had touchdown runs covering 28 and 80 yards in the third quarter to get Sam Houston on the scoreboard. But Omiri Wiggins had a 16-yard touchdown run and Thevenin added a 25-yarder for a 41-14 advantage heading to the fourth quarter. Jacob Fields picked off a Hunter Watson pass and returned it 85 yards for a touchdown, and Andrew Burnette scored on a 66-yard run to set the final margin. Wiggins finished with 136 yards on 14 carries as the Bulldogs piled up 425 of their 646 yards on the ground. Green had a career-high 191 yards on 10 rushes for Sam Houston. He set career highs in tackles, TFLs, and pass breakups, while the interception and touchdown were the first of his career.   Blake Baker threw for 239 yards and ran for a touchdown as Louisiana Tech built a big first-half lead and held off Southern Miss for a 30-20 victory on Saturday night. Baker's 73-yard pass to Eli Finley helped set up his 1-yard touchdown run about a minute into the game. Omiri Wiggins and Clay Thevenin scored on short-yardage runs, sandwiched between Kolbe Fields' 48-yard pick-6, to help stake Louisiana Tech (3-1) to a 30-10 halftime lead.

Reed Harradine added a 30-yard field goal late in the third quarter for Southern Miss (2-2). Braylon Braxton threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Carl Chester with 22 seconds to play. Braxton was 28-of-47 passing for 392 yards with two touchdowns. Chester finished with five receptions for 152 yards. Kyirin Heath also had a touchdown catch for the Eagles. In the fourth quarter, Southern Miss punted twice and turned the ball over on downs from Louisiana Tech's 40 before Chester's late TD catch.   Kam Franklin had an 80-yard fumble recovery touchdown, defensive lineman Zion Nason recorded his first career interception, and defense led the way in Louisiana Tech's season-opening 24-0 win over Southeastern Louisiana. Drew Henderson's 19-yard field goal as time expired in the half was the first score of the game. The Bulldogs offense came alive early in the second half with touchdowns on back-to-back drives. Omiri Wiggins found open space on a checkdown and scored a 17-yard receiving touchdown, and Clay Thevenin ran it in from 2 yards out just four minutes later.

Bulldogs quarterback Trey Kukuk completed 14 of his 19 passing attempts for 130 yards and one touchdown, and added 48 yards rushing on 17 attempts. Kukuk's start marked the sixth season in a row with a different opening day quarterback for Louisiana Tech. Eli Finley led the Bulldogs with 59 receiving yards on four receptions. Carson Camp completed 11 of 22 attempts for 122 passing yards to pace the Lions.
