  10/04/25 - Jacob ReddingrSo/2028, Baylor, 6-1, 188 (DS#999 FS) + More +

Connor Hawkins kicked a 53-yard field goal with 31 seconds left after Jacob Redding's go-ahead 66-yard interception return for a touchdown as Baylor rallied twice in the fourth quarter for a 35-34 victory over Kansas State on Saturday. Hawkins matched the longest kick of his career after Luis Rodriguez had put the Wildcats in front with a 22-yard field goal with 1:48 remaining. Kansas State (2-4, 1-2 Big 12) had to settle for the kick after having a first down at the Baylor 2-yard line. Rodriguez had a chance for a game-winner from 56 yards, but 6-foot-4 defensive end Cooper Lanz blocked it with 2 seconds to go. The Bears (4-2, 2-1) held on two weeks after losing to Arizona State on a game-ending field goal in their previous home game.

Michael Trigg had career highs with eight catches for 155 yards and sparked Baylor's rally from a 14-point deficit with a 42-yard grab a play before making a spectacular one-handed catch while getting one foot down on the sideline. Sawyer Robertson's 11-yard scoring pass to Bryson Washington came on the next play, and Robertson's conversion run cut Baylor's deficit to 31-25. Avery Johnson, who threw for touchdowns and ran for a score, had kept a potential clock-killing drive alive with two third-down conversions but he threw into traffic on first down in Baylor territory with the six-point lead. Redding picked off the pass, ran left up the sideline and cut back inside with the speedy Johnson pursuing to finish off the score untouched. Baylor had earlier pulled within six on quarterback Sawyer Robertson's 2-point conversion run after his TD pass to Bryson Washington, Hawkins' PAT kick put the Bears in front 32-31. Johnson's 12-yard scoring pass to Jayce Brown broke a 17-17 halftime tie, and the Wildcats went up two touchdowns on Dylan Edwards' 5-yard run late in the third quarter. - Baylor/AP College Football

Sawyer Robertson passed for 393 yards and four touchdowns, and Baylor ruined Oklahoma State's first game without Mike Gundy as head coach in more than 20 years with a 45-27 victory on Saturday. Robertson threw each of his touchdown passes to a different player and also ran for a score. Josh Cameron caught six passes for 98 yards for the Bears (3-2, 1-1 Big 12), who gained 612 total yards. Zane Flores passed for 232 yards for Oklahoma State, which lost its first game under interim coach Doug Meacham. Trent Howland had career highs of 84 yards and two touchdowns rushing for the Cowboys (1-3, 0-1).

Despite the loss, it was a significant improvement for the Cowboys, whose previous losses were 69-3 to Oregon and 19-12 to Tulsa. The Cowboys posted a season-high 448 yards. Oklahoma State showed early that it planned to open things up. The Cowboys scored their first points of Meacham's tenure on a double pass. Receiver Sam Jackson V completed a 26-yard touchdown pass to Josh Ford that tied the game at 7 in the first quarter. Robertson threw three touchdown passes in the first half to help Baylor take a 28-20 lead at the break, despite Oklahoma State outgaining the Bears 349 yards to 285. Howland added to his career day by throwing a 13-yard completion, then running in from a yard out on the next play to cut Baylor's lead to 35-27 in the third. That was the closest Oklahoma State would get. - Baylor/AP College Football

Bryson Washington ran for 135 yards and two touchdowns, Sawyer Robertson threw three TD passes while going over 1,000 yards passing for the season and Baylor finished non-conference play with a 42-7 win over FCS opponent Samford on Saturday. Baylor (2-1) blocked a punt on the opening possession that led to Washington's powerful 2-yard plunge, and the Bears were up 14-0 only 5 1/2 minutes into the game after Robertson's 10-yard TD pass to Josh Cameron. The Bears led 35-7 at halftime after touchdowns on their final three drives, two set up by turnovers.

Robertson completed 23 of 37 passes for 211 yards, but also threw his first two interceptions. He has 1,070 yards and 10 touchdowns passing overall. Samford (0-3) was within 14-7 after scoring on a double pass, when Torrey Ward caught running back CJ Evans' wobbly, shotput-like 12-yard throw right at the goal line late in the first quarter. The Bulldogs got the ball right back, at the Baylor 24 after Lashon Young had the first interception on Robertson's 108th pass attempt this season. But Samford gave the ball back four plays later with a fumble at the end of a completion, leading to the first of those three consecutive Baylor TD drives. - Baylor/AP College Football

Baylor freshman Connor Hawkins kicked a 27-yard field goal in the second overtime after Sawyer Robertson threw two of his four touchdowns in the final 5 1/2 minutes of regulation as the Bears rallied to beat 17th-ranked SMU 48-45 on Saturday. Robertson was 34-of-50 passing with 440 yards for the Bears (1-1), who have won 14 meetings in a row against their former Southwest Conference rival since 1986. Bryson Washington ran for 115 yards and two scores, including a 2-yard TD in the first overtime. Collin Rogers was well short on a 57-yard field goal attempt at the end of regulation, then was wide right on a 38-yard try when SMU (1-1) had the ball first in the second overtime period.

Kevin Jennings threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns, with two 75-yard scores and then a 25-yarder to Romello Brinson on the Mustangs' first play in overtime. Brinson had one of the 75-yarders on the first play of the game, and Jennings hit freshman Jalen Cooper in stride for the other long score when he got open behind the secondary late in the second quarter. While the schools are only about 100 miles apart, this was only the seventh time they played since the SWC broke up after the 1995 season. It was the first since 2016. - Baylor/AP College Football
