Colorado quarterback JT Shrout will put his name into the NCAA transfer portal, announcing his decision Tuesday night. Shrout, a junior, started seven games last season for the Buffs (1-11, 1-8 Pac-12), completing 90-of-203 passes for 1,220 yards, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions. "I would like to thank you for all your love and support this last year," he wrote to CU fans on social media. "You stuck with this team through it all and I'm truly grateful for my time here playing in front of you." After starting two games early in the year, Shrout was a backup for three games until freshman Owen McCown was injured.

Shrout came off the bench to lead CU to its only win - 20-13 in overtime against California - on Oct. 15. He threw the game-winning touchdown to Montana Lemonious-Craig in overtime. Shrout then started the next five games before missing the finale with an injury. With new head coach Deion Sanders coming to CU and his son, Shedeur, slated to start at quarterback, it is likely Shrout will seek an opportunity to compete for a starting job elsewhere. - Daily Camera
