  Clemson will start the season as the No. 2 team in the USA Today college football coaches' poll. Alabama is the clear No. 1, receiving 63 of 65 first-place votes. Oklahoma, the No. 3 team in the poll, received the other two votes for first. Coastal Carolina, coming off its best season in program history, is ranked 24th. The Tigers' appearance at No. 2 marks the sixth consecutive season they have debuted in the top 5, and they have been in the top 2 in five out of the last six seasons. This is Clemson's third debut at No. 2 in Along with Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Ohio State, the top 5 was rounded out by Georgia, officially making the Tigers and Bulldogs' Week 1 matchup in Charlotte, N.C., a battle of top 5 teams. - Charleston Post Courier
