  12/01/20 - RB *Tank BigsbyJr/2023, Auburn

The Tigers' run game was hindered from the get-go, as leading rusher Tank Bigsby attempted to play through the hip injury he sustained in the first quarter of last week's win against Tennessee but was clearly not at 100 percent. The Tigers also had a new-look offensive line, with Austin Troxell in for an injured Alec Jackson at left tackle, while right tackle Brodarious Hamm tried to play through a left knee injury but was subbed out after halftime. Bigsby, who entered the game as the fourth-leading rusher among all FBS freshmen this year, was limited to just 39 yards on 11 carries, including just 7 yards on four first-quarter carries. "Obviously, you can see Tank, he's not close to 100 percent," Malzahn said.

Bigsby's first-quarter rushing numbers were emblematic of the Tigers' overall struggles establishing the run against the Tide. Auburn had just 27 rushing yards in the opening period, averaging 2.7 yards per carry as the offense totaled just 45 yards and failed to sustain drives while regularly finding itself in third-and-long situations. It didn't get much better from there, with Auburn rushing for 30 yards on 10 second-quarter attempts and then minus-4 yards in the third quarter, when Alabama effectively put the game away. By then, Bigsby's day was done. - Birmingham News
