If Saturday's opener is any indication, opponents are going to be placing extra attention on Aidan Hutchinson this season. The Michigan defensive end, whose lean frame and extraordinary athletic ability make him difficult to match up with, drew extra blockers throughout the Wolverines' 49-24 win over Minnesota. Hutchinson chuckled Monday when compared to former Michigan first-round pick Rashan Gary, who received similar treatment in 2018. "Yeah, yeah, it certainly felt like it was holding - holding every play from their offensive line," Hutchinson said. "I definitely felt the double teams on Saturday too." Hutchinson was often the Michigan defensive lineman doubled up on when the Wolverines went to a three-man front.

Early in the second quarter, on second-and-15 from Michigan's 37-yard line, Minnesota closed Hutchinson off to buy Morgan enough time to hit receiver Rashod Bateman over the middle for a first down. Later in the quarter, on a second-and-5 play with the Gophers on their own 30, Hutchinson was met with two blockers to allow running Mohamed Ibrahim to break around the corner. Ibrahim was stopped by linebacker Cam McGrone for a 1-yard gain. "Minnesota had a tough scheme," Hutchinson said "They ran a lot of 12 personnel (one running back, two tight ends); a lot of heavy sets. They ran the ball a lot, so it was hard to get that pressure on those early downs just because they had their big tight ends, big personnels." - Ann Arbor News
