Preseason All-American tight end Charlie Kolar already has one personal victory under his belt with an "extra-special" win over Oklahoma, the university located in his home town that didn't offer him a scholarship. The Cowboys did offer Kolar, but not until after he was already committed to Campbell's program. "That's a hard decision when a school in your home state comes in on you in the recruiting process," Campbell said. "I think it says a lot about who Charlie is. At that time, Charlie had a brother that was at Oklahoma State as well, so I know there was personal meaning toward getting that scholarship offer. It takes a lot of courage to kind of leave home and stay committed to us. "I really appreciate his courage. Charlie comes from a great family with great character. We're really grateful that he did make that decision because he's certainly been a big pillar of us continuing to grow as a program." Kolar, a junior, has 12 catches for 134 yards and a touchdown since returning from an injury that kept him out of Iowa State's opener. - Ames Tribune
