Jake Stearney threw for 246 yards, Luke Vogeler kicked a 34-yard field goal in overtime and Colgate beat Merrimack 23-20 on Saturday in a non-conference matchup. Colgate's (4-5) Adam DeSantis intercepted Ayden Pereira on Merrimack's (3-6) second play of overtime to help set up Vogeler's game winner. Merrimack's Carlton Thai kicked a 47-yard field goal with 41 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 20 apiece.Danny Shaban put the Raiders ahead 20-17 on a 2-yard scoring run that ended a nine -play, 94-yard drive that lasted a little more than five minutes with 9:45 left to play. Reed Swanson caught five passes for 134 yards for Colgate which has won four of its last six. Pereira threw for 237 yards and was intercepted once. His 16-yard touch down run with 8:02 left in the third tied the score at 10 apiece. Merrimack has lost three straight and four of its last five. - AP College Football

Jake Stearney connected with Brendan Cassamajor with 2:35 remaining to complete Colgate's comeback against Holy Cross, 29-28 on Saturday. The Raiders (3-5, 2-2 Patriot League) trailed by 18 points in the third quarter after a 47-yard punt-return touchdow n by Holy Cross' Max Mosey, but rallied late with 19 unanswered points to take the lead for the first time since the opening drive of the game. Stearney was 23-of-40 passing with 216 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for a score.Danny Shaban rac ked up 93 rushing yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, and Reed Swanson had four catches for 39 yards and a touchdown. Trooper Price led with 15 tackles, one for a loss. Braden Graham and Lincoln Fisher connected twice for scores for the Crusaders (1-7, 1-2). Graham was 15-for-24 passing for 127 yards, and Lathan Croley had 15 total tackles. Colgate earned its first win against Holy Cross since Sept. 1, 2018.
