AJ Duffy threw for 354 yards and four touchdowns and Jalen Smith ran for 175 yards and two touchdowns as New Haven dismantled Division-III member Western Connecticut State 69-0 on Saturday. Duffy did his damage completing 15 of 21 and scored two running touchdowns while Smith ran just 12 times for 14.6-yards per carry. Brian Thomas ran for 110 yards on 14 carries and Isaac Glaudin had 106 yards receiving on four receptions with a touchdown. New Haven totaled 736 yards of total offense, never punted, and held the ball for 35:21. The Chargers (4-3) entered the red zone eight times and came away with six scores. The all-time series between the two teams is even at 4-4; however, in the last three meetings, the Chargers own wins of 69-0, 52-0 (1980) and 34- 0 (1979). - AP College Football

WEEK 3 NEC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: AJ Duffy, New Haven,...Quarterback, Junior, 6-2, 215 lbs., St. Augustine, FL/Rancho Verde (Florida State/San Diego State),...Last Week's Stats: 23-35 completions, 180 passing yards, 3 passing TDs, 0 interceptions, ...Duffy became the first player this season to take home multiple NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Offensive Player of the Week awards as the junior previously earned the distinction following New Haven's first-ever game as a Division I program last month . The Floridian piloted the Chargers to a 24-17 win - their first as a Division I member - at CAA opponent UAlbany on Saturday after he threw for 180 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. Following a field goal on New Haven's first possession, Duffy went to work and led his team to touchdowns on their next three drives, including a 12-yard pass to Matt Chandler, a three-yard dish to Evan Chieca and a 21-yarder to Nikkem Reynolds. Those scores put New Haven up by a comfortable 24-0 cushion with 5:01 left in the first half. AJ Duffy threw four touchdown passes and New Haven scored all its points in the first half then held on for a 35-28 win over Division II Saginaw Valley State on Saturday. Duffy threw a 5-yard TD pass to Joshua Tracey and a 41-yarder to Logan Schmidt in t he opening quarter then hit Tracey again for a 64-yard score plus an 18-yarder to Kevonne Wilder before Zaon Laney added a 2-yard rushing TD for a 35-14 halftime lead.Duffy was 18-of-33 passing for 269 yards but had two interceptions for the Charg ers (2-2). Mason McKenzie rushed for a 28-yard score and threw TD passes of 18 yards to Terrence Brown Jr. and 28 yards to Israel Bradford for the Cardinals. McKenzie finished 21 of 38 for 202 yards. He added 88 yards on the ground. Bradford's TD catch g ot the Cardinals within seven with 7 1/2 minutes left. Then, Christian Boivin intercepted Duffy and the Cardinals had the ball back but they turned it back on downs at the Chargers' 6. Under the lights of Tenney Stadium in Poughkeepsie, NY, the junior transfer and Floridian completed 31-of-55 passes for 377 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. In the second quarter of the new season, Duffy completed a five-yard pass to teammate Evan Chieca to cap a nine-play, 72-yard drive that put New Haven on the board for the first time in the young season. Later in th e game, the 6-foot-2 quarterback struck again when he hit Logan Schmidt with a 21-yarder for the Chargers' second score of the night. His 377 yards through the air against the Red Foxes are the third-most registered by an FCS signal caller this season. T his is the first-ever weekly award for a New Haven player. - NEC Football

AJ Duffy connected with three different receivers for touchdowns, all in the first half, as New Haven beat Albany 24-17 on Saturday. Duffy connected with Nikkem Reynolds, Evan Chieca and Matt Chandler for his respective scores. Reynolds and Joshua Tracey combined for 128 yards receiving, while Brian Thomas and Zaon Laney paced the rushing attack with 84 yards. Duffy went 23 of 35 for 180 yards as the Chargers (1-2) built a 24-7 halftime lead.Albany quarterback Jack Shields threw for 396 yards but was intercepted twice and sacked twice. Carter Moses (119 yards) and Caden Burti (117) both topped 100 receiving yards for the Great Danes. Griffin Woodell ran for a 13-yard touchdown, and Tavahri Groves added a scoring catch to bring the Great Danes (0 -3) within seven.
