Bo Nix threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Chase Cota on fourth down with 19 seconds left and Camden Lewis' PAT bounced off the left upright and went through to give No. 15 Oregon a wild 28-27 victory against North Carolina in the Holiday Bowl on Wednesday night at Petco Park. Cota caught the ball at about the 1 and got it across the goal line as he was being tackled by Don Chapman. The play was upheld on review. Lewis then banked in the PAT. North Carolina (9-5) got the ball to the Oregon 42 with one seco nd left before Drake Maye's desperation heave into the end zone fell incomplete. The Ducks finished 10-3 thanks to Nix, who came up big late in the fourth quarter after being held in check much of the second half. He threw a 6-yard TD pass to Troy Frankl in with 6:58 to go to pull the Ducks to 24-21.The Tar Heels took a 27-21 lead with 2:34 to go on Noah Burnette's 44-yard field goal, his second of the quarter. Nix then moved the Ducks 79 yards in eight plays for the win, with the drive being aide d by a pass interference call. Nix was 23 of 30 for 205 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception. Maye, the ACC Offensive Player of the Year, was 18 of 35 for 206 yards and three scores. The Tar Heels took a 21-14 lead on Maye's 49-yard TD pass to Kobe Paysour just before halftime that was set up by an incredible interception by linebacker Power Echols. Echols' jaw-dropping interception and 40-yard return gave the Tar Heels the ball at the Oregon 49. With the score tied at 14 and Oregon driving l ate in the second quarter, Nix threw behind Terrance Ferguson and the ball bounced off the right calf of linebacker Cedric Gray toward Echols, who tipped it up with his right foot before bending over and grabbing it and taking off to the Oregon 49. - Ore gon/AP College Football

In 2022, Bo Nix put together one of the best regular seasons by a quarterback in Oregon football history. He's planning to stick around in 2023 and lead the Ducks to even greater heights. Nix announced Sunday that he plans to remain with the UO football program for another season. As a first-year transfer in 2022, Nix led the Ducks on an eight-game winning streak that had Oregon in the thick of the College Football Playoff race and Nix generating Heisman Trophy buzz, before a November injury impeded tha t momentum."There's nothing like a Saturday in Autzen Stadium in front of the best fans in college football," Nix said. "There's nothing like playing for my coaches and going to battle with my teammates. There's nothing like being an Oregon Duck." Entering Oregon's Holiday Bowl appearance against North Carolina on Dec. 28, Nix is 271-of-379 passing this season for 3,388 yards and 27 touchdowns, with six interceptions. He also rushed for 504 yards and 14 touchdowns in the regular season. Those num bers put Nix at No. 9 on the UO single-season list for attempts, third in completions, fifth in passing yards and tied for ninth in touchdown passes. His completion percentage of 71.5 percent leads the Pac-12 and would be a UO single-season record, and h is 14 rushing touchdowns are one shy of the UO single-season record for a quarterback, held by Marcus Mariota. - Oregon Football

Bo Nix will play at least one more college football game. What Oregon's quarterback will do after the Holiday Bowl is yet to be determined though. "I wanna know too," Nix said after practice on Friday. "I'm still trying to figure that out myself and we'l l decide later." Nix enters the Holiday Bowl matchup against North Carolina completing 71.5% of his passes for 3,388 yards, 27 touchdowns and six interceptions with 504 rushing yards and 14 scores and a touchdown reception for the No. 15 Ducks (9-3). The fourth-year junior is automatically entered in this year's NFL Draft and has until mid-January to decide whether to opt-out of the draft and return to college for his final year of eligibility. "I hope it's as soon as possible," Nix said. "Like you guys , I'm ready to know my decision. It's not an easy process; it's one of the toughest things I've had to do but it's rewarding regardless of what happens."Nix is one of the first and most prominent cases of a college quarterback who faces this criti cal career decision in the new age of name, image and likeness compensation, which could surpass his first-year earning potential in the NFL. Early draft projections still vary, but none have Nix expected to be selected in the first three rounds if he we re to remain in the draft. This year, NFL rookies earn $750,000 in base salary and the bonus compensation for a player drafted from the first pick in the fourth round to the last pick in the draft ranged from approximately $21,000-$227,000, according to OverTheCap.com. "I think it's tough because in my situation you can hear all different, like all sorts of things from where you could get drafted," Nix said. "And I think that's what kind of makes it not confusing, but it makes you have a lot of decision s because you don't know when you're going to be drafted. And so then you got to compare your situation to college and you know, the value in the two decisions and there's value in both. I don't think I can make a bad decision." - The Oregonian

Bo Nix started the week as a hobbled spectator sitting in the training room getting rehab. He ended it still hobbled, but celebrating on the field after helping keep alive Oregon's hopes of getting back to the Pac-12 championship game. Nix threw for 287 yards and one touchdown despite a lower leg injury, Oregon intercept three of Utah quarterback Cameron Rising's passes and the 12th-ranked Ducks knocked off the No. 10 Utes 20-17 on Saturday night. A week after watching their hopes at the College Footbal l Playoff evaporate, the Ducks rebounded with a gutty effort that preserved their chances of a fourth straight trip to the conference championship game. And it was personified by their banged-up quarterback. "For him to go out there and have a gutsy perf ormance was really important and special for this team," Oregon coach Dan Lanning said. The Ducks (9-2, 7-1, No. 12 CFP) need only a win over rival Oregon State next Saturday to book their ticket to Las Vegas and a date with Southern California.Ni x was clearly limited after suffering an injury to his right ankle/foot late in last week's loss to Washington that snapped Oregon's 23-game home win streak. He threw a 4-yard TD pass to Troy Franklin in the first half and Bucky Irving added a 10-yard TD run as the Ducks built a 17-3 halftime lead. Camden Lewis added field goals of 30 and 41 yards for the Ducks, the second of which came early in the fourth quarter and proved to be the winning points. Nix finished 25 of 37 passing and his own interceptio n late in the fourth quarter proved not to be costly for the Ducks. Nix's first carry of the night came with less than 2 minutes remaining when he faked a pitch, dived for 2 yards and picked up the clinching first down for the Ducks. - AP College Footbal l

Bo Nix and the Oregon offense found creative ways to score, including an offensive lineman catching a touchdown pass and a linebacker scoring from short, as the eighth-ranked Ducks routed Colorado 49-10 on Saturday. With the wind howling - 39 mph gusts - the Ducks (8-1, 6-0 Pac-12, No. 8 CFP) breezed to their eighth straight win since a 49-3 loss to No. 1 Georgia in the season opener. The Ducks dialed up one gadget play after another, with offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. catching a 4-yard TD pass to o pen the scoring and linebacker Noah Sewell scoring on a 1-yard plunge. Even Nix got into the trick-play act by catching an 18-yard touchdown pass from tailback Bucky Irving. The Ducks are the first FBS team to have a receiving TD from an O-lineman, a rec eiving score from a QB and a rushing TD by a defensive player in the same game since at least 1996, according to research provided by Oregon. Nix turned in another strong performance, completing 20 of 24 passes for 274 yards and two scores. He also had t wo rushing touchdowns. With his TD reception, Nix joined the company of Marcus Mariota (2012 and '14) and Joey Harrington ('00) as Oregon quarterbacks who've been on the receiving end of scores since '96.Irving finished with 120 yards rushing and, courtesy of his pass, posted an astounding pass efficiency rating of 581.2. Oregon defensive back Christian Gonzalez tormented his former team with a pair of interceptions. Gonzalez earned Pac-12 All-Conference honorable mention accolades last season fo r the Buffaloes before transferring. About the only thing that didn't go well for Oregon was Nix's backward, hook-shot-looking pass on fourth down near the end zone. Even that worked out, though, as two plays later Gonzalez intercepted a J.T. Shrout pass . It set up a short Nix run to make it 35-10. There was a scary moment for the Buffaloes (1-8, 1-5) in the fourth quarter when talented freshman receiver Jordyn Tyson went down with an undisclosed injury. He was helped off the field with his left leg tra iling. Tyson had five catches for 137 yards, including an 81-yard score. It was a gusty day at Folsom Field, with wrappers and leaves constantly blowing all over the field. On one occasion, the pom-poms from the cheerleaders blew onto the field and playe rs tracked them down. - Oregon/AP College Football

Bo Nix threw three touchdown passes and ran for three more scores to lead No. 8 Oregon to a 42-24 victory over California on Saturday for its seventh straight win. The Ducks (7-1, 5-0 Pac-12) broke open the game with three TDs in a span of less than seve n minutes of game time spanning halftime and rolled to another win. Oregon hasn't lost since a season-opening 46-point loss to Georgia, winning six of the seven games by at least 15 points. The Golden Bears (3-5, 1-4) lost their fourth straight game as t heir defense could do little to slow down Nix and the Ducks and the offense couldn't keep up. Cal has lost 22 of its last 23 games against teams ranked in the top 10. Nix threw for 412 yards and accounted for six touchdowns combined through the air or on the ground. The Ducks gained 586 yards for the game, the most against the Bears in six seasons under coach Justin Wilcox. Jack Plummer threw for 214 yards and one TD for Cal.Oregon scored three TDs in the second quarter to take charge of the game . Nix ran it in from the 4 on the opening play of the quarter. He bounced back from an interception near the goal line on the next drive to lead the Ducks to two more TDs in the second quarter, scoring on a 1-yard run and then throwing a 12-yard TD pass to Bucky Irving following Trikweze Bridges' interception of Plummer to make it 21-10. Oregon then took the second-half kickoff and scored another TD when Noah Whittington took a short pass from Nix and turned it into a 29-yard score. That gave Oregon it' s third TD in a span of 6:29 on the game clock. Nix added a TD run and touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach. - Oregon/AP College Football
