University at Buffalo quarterback Matt Myers has withdrawn from the transfer portal. Rivals.com reported Tuesday morning that Myers, a redshirt sophomore who played at West Seneca West and Bishop Timon-St. Jude, will return to the Bulls for a fourth seas on. Myers initially entered the transfer portal on Thursday, a day before UB announced that Maurice Linguist will be the program's new head coach. In five games in 2019, Myers threw for 602 yards and six touchdowns on 49 of 105 passing, and was intercept ed four times. He also ran for 94 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries that season, but sustained a season-ending upper-body injury Sept. 28 in a 34-20 loss at Miami (Ohio). Myers was the backup to Kyle Vantrease in 2020, and completed two passes in th ree games for 11 yards. - Buffalo News

Two more players from the University at Buffalo football program have entered the transfer portal, including former West Seneca West and Bishop Timon-St. Jude quarterback Matt Myers. Jacob Gall, an offensive lineman for the Bulls, has also entered the tr ansfer portal, according to 247Sports. Multiple sources told The News that UB could announce a new coach within the next two to four days. The new coach would replace Lance Leipold, who resigned on April 30, after six seasons as head coach of the Bulls t o take the same job at Kansas. UB has not commented on potential personnel changes and has not confirmed which players have entered the transfer portal. Six players from UB's 2020 roster have entered the transfer portal in the last week, after Leipold's departure and the impending departure of several of Leipold's assistants. - Buffalo News

Matt Myers, the first freshman quarterback to start a season opener for Buffalo in 28 years, accounted for three touchdowns and the Bulls beat Robert Morris 38-10 on Thursday night. Myers was 5-of-10 passing for 69 yards with two touchdown throws to Zac Lefebvre. Myers also ran for 47 yards and a touchdown. Cliff Scott started under center for the Bulls as a freshman in the 1991 opener. Jaret Patterson added 90 yards rushing and a touchdown run for Buffalo.Alijah Jackson led Robert Morris with 85 yards rushing and scored the Colonials' only touchdown with a 28-yard run in the first quarter. Myers bullied in from the 1 on just the Bulls' third play from scrimmage. Patterson's 4-yard run capped a 10-play drive on Buffalo's next possession. Myers c onnected with Lefebvre on a 40-yard touchdown pass and a 3-yard scoring toss as the Bulls built a 28-10 halftime lead. It was the first meeting between the schools. - AP College Football
