OCT 31 PIONEER FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sam Schadek, Dayton, (Sr., DT, Columbus, Ohio),...Schadek notched 4.5 tackles for loss, including 3.5 sacks, as Dayton secured a 31-24 PFL victory against Valparaiso, Saturday. The bulk of his damage came in the second half as he recorded 3.5 tackles for loss - all on sacks - and a hurry. On Valparaiso's final two possessions, he had 2.5 sacks alone. After Dayton missed a potential go-ahead field goal with under six minutes left, Schadek was involved in back-to-back sacks that put Valparaiso in a 3rd-and-29 situation and ultimately forced a punt. Then after the Flyers scored the go-ahead touchdown with 13 seconds left, Schadek recorded a solo sack on the Beacons' first play of the ensuing drive, hel ping secure the victory.
