Another transfer is joining Purdue's football program. C.J. McWilliams, who was part of Florida's program for five years, announced he's joining the Boilermakers as a graduate transfer. McWilliams posted his announcement on Instagram. McWilliams played i n one game for the Gators in 2020 before opting out due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 5-foot-11, 183-pound McWilliams follows Ron English to Purdue. English is the program's new cornerbacks coach after spending three seasons at Florida. Offensive line man Tyler Witt (Western Kentucky), linebacker Octavius Brothers (Auburn) and defensive lineman Joseph Anderson (South Carolina) have already joined the program as transfers and are scheduled to participate in spring practice, which begins Friday. McWilli ams, who attended Southwest High School in Miami, doesn't bring a lot of experience to Purdue. Along with opting out of the 2020 season after one game, he missed the 2019 season due to a knee injury. - Journal and Courier

Florida junior cornerback C.J. McWilliams, competing for a spot in the rotation in the secondary, will miss the season because of a ruptured Achilles, coach Dan Mullen said Tuesday. McWilliams suffered the injury in a non-contact situation in practice, M ullen said. "He's going to be out for the year; that's a tough one," Mullen said at a press conference. "It's a shame...That's what's so tough. Guys work so hard, they put in all this work in the offseason and then they suffer an injury."The Gator s, picked No. 8 nationally in the preseason coaches poll, have a pair of standout corners in Marco Wilson and CJ Henderson but have true freshmen behind them, while McWilliams was vying for the nickel back role. He played in nine games and started two la st season, making 16 tackles and breaking up four passes. "There's a lot of things we can do personnel-wise to move guys around," Mullen said. - National Post
