The Nevada quarterback competition appears to be down to two players following some bad luck for Wolf Pack senior Cristian Solano. Solano, the lone senior quarterback on the roster, injured his throwing hand at a recent Wolf Pack practice and is expected to miss at least the beginning of the season. At Saturday's Nevada practice at Mackay Stadium, Solano was not in uniform, but did assist the team in some drills while wearing what appeared to be receiver's gloves. Junior transfer Malik Henry, redshirt f reshman Carson Strong, true freshman Austin Kirksey and redshirt freshman Hamish McClure were the throwers during Saturday's session."Senior quarterback Cristian Solano hit his right hand on a helmet during practice this week and is expected to mi ss the rest of training camp and part of the regular season due to the injury," Nevada head coach Jay Norvell said in a statement. "He is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days and we're hopeful of his return around the start of conference play." - Reno Gazette Journal
