2019 PRESEASON INAUGURAL PATRICK MANNELLY LONG SNAPPER AWARD WATCH LIST: Chase Urbach, Nebraska,...The Mannelly Award was created this year to honor college football's top senior long snapper. It was named in honor of Patrick Mannelly, who played 16 seas ons with the Chicago Bears and is the franchise's all-time leader with 245 games played.Urbach moved into the starting long snapper role last season and handled the snapping duties for Nebraska's punt unit in each of the final 10 games of 2018. As the long snapper, he helped Isaac Armstrong post the ninth-best punting average (43.6) in school history in his first season as NU's punter. Urbach also tallied three tackles, including a pair of stops against nationally ranked Michigan and recovered a fumble in the victory over Illinois.The semifinalists will be announced on Nov. 16 with the finalists being announced on Nov. 23. The winner and trophy presentation will be on Dec. 14. The Patrick Mannelly Award is proudly presented by Bernie's Bo ok Bank, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing book ownership among at-risk children. - Nebraska Football
