  2019 ALL-CONFERENCE USA FIRST TEAM (COACHES): OL Miles Pate, R-Sr., WKU,...Pate appears on the First Team after earning Preseason All-Conference recognition and Second Team honors in 2018. The Lawrenceville, Ga., native played 828 offensive snaps for the Hilltoppers and was not called for one penalty all season. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), he ranks third among C-USA offensive tackles with a 78.8 overall rating, fourth with a 79.1 pass block rating and fifth with a 73.0 run block rating. Pate is also part of a WKU offensive line that owns the top pass block rating in the nation at 89.8, according to PFF. - Western Kentucky Football

He boomed 42 punts for 1,941 yards in 12 games, for a gross average of 46.2 yards, which leads C-USA and currently stands as the all-time, single-season program record. He has pinned 16 punts inside the 20-yard line compared to only two touchbacks, while his 16 punts of 50-plus yards lead the league despite having only the 12th-most total attempts. The Atlanta, Ga., native set the WKU FBS Era record (since 2009) in tackles for loss, while becoming only the fourth defender in all-time Hilltopper history with double-digit quarterback takedowns. His 985 yards ranks third in the conference, while his four 100-yard performances tie for second among C-USA receivers. The Lexington native finished the regular season on fire, with 52 receptions for 772 yards and three touchdowns in the final six games after recording only 25 catches for 263 yards and zero scores in the first six contests.   2019 ALL-CONFERENCE USA SECOND TEAM (COACHES): LS Jared Nash, Gr., WKU,...After spending the majority of Fall Camp as a WKU Communications intern, Nash was invited to the squad less than two weeks before the season opener and has made all 105 special teams snaps for the Hilltoppers this year. Nash - with holder John Haggerty - have helped freshman kicker Cory Munson make 14 field goals and 37-of-38 extra points. As previously mentioned, WKU leads the league with a 41.7 net punting average.   2019 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Defensive recognition went to WKU junior DE DeAngelo Malone, who is second in the conference in sacks (11.5) and third nationally in tackles for loss (21.0). He registered at least one TFL in all but one game this season and has recorded 97 lost yards on sacks and 117 lost yards on TFL's. Malone leads all FBS defensive lineman with 90 tackles this season (12th in C-USA).   2019 CONFERENCE USA NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): The league's Newcomer of the Year went to WKU QB Ty Storey, a graduate transfer from Arkansas that became the sixth passer to win the award in the last seven seasons. Storey started nine games, leading the Hilltoppers to a 7-2 record. He finished the regular season with a league-best 70.1 completion percentage, throwing for 2,209 yards and 12 touchdowns with just five interceptions. Storey also ran for six scores and caught one touchdown. He was named the Manning Award National QB of the Week for his performance in WKU's 45-19 win at Arkansas on Nov. 9. - Conference USA Football

Carothers rushed for a game-high 188 yards and five touchdowns on 18 carries, averaging 10.4 yards per attempt.   Gaej Walker rushed for 119 yards and his fourth-quarter touchdown capped a 31-26 win as Western Kentucky rallied past Middle Tennessee on Saturday. The Hilltoppers (8-4, 6-2 Conference USA) trailed 20-17 entering the final period but wrapped two touchdowns around a Middle Tennessee fumble to claim the win. Ty Storey, who passed for 294 yards and two touchdowns, tossed a 3-yard pass to Quin Jernighan as the Hilltoppers leapt ahead 24-20 with 7:14 left. Middle Tennessee had the ball for five plays before Damon Lowe recovered a fumble at the 44. Storey fired a 16-yard pass to Jahcour Pearson and also rushed for 16 yards quickly setting up a first-and-goal from the 7. Walker punched in from the 5, extending the WKU lead to 31-24. The Blue Raiders (4-8, 3-5) fashioned a 78-yard drive in 12 plays capped by an 11-yard TD pass from Asher O'Hara to Ty Lee, getting as close as 31-26. With 43 seconds left in the game, the Blue Raiders went for the onside kick, which was recovered by Western Kentucky's Jeremiah Fails. O'Hara was 18-for-33 passing for 301 yards and three TDs.
