  Offseason changes continue for the Western Kentucky football team. The Hilltoppers on Wednesday announced the signing of defensive back Tre Shaw, and WKU confirmed to the Daily News that receiver Xavier Lane has entered the transfer portal. Shaw is a 6-foot, 190-pound redshirt junior transfer from North Carolina. The Ellenwood, Ga., native appeared in 22 games in three seasons with the Tar Heels. He recorded 19 tackles, including one for loss, and a forced fumble. - BG Daily News

  Western Kentucky has added two more pieces to next year's team. The Hilltoppers announced Tuesday the signing of defensive end Michael Pitts, and also got a commitment from defensive back Daewood Davis the same day, after already signing eight to next year's class. Pitts comes from Cincinnati, where he spent five years and played in 38 games total and started 22. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Stone Mountain, Ga., native recorded 77 total tackles, including 17.5 for loss with 9.5 sacks, for the Bearcats. - BG Daily News

  Former Oregon receiver/cornerback Daewood Davis landed a new home in the FBS in just three days. Davis, who entered the transfer portal on Saturday, announced his commitment to Western Kentucky on Tuesday. The Hollywood, Florida, native had nine catches for 89 yards and two tackles in 2019 and a 13-yard catch in 2018. - The Oregonian

  2020 ALL-CONFERENCE USA FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES): DE-DeAngelo Malone, Sr., WKU,...Malone - who was the 2019 C-USA Defensive Player of the Year - put up another productive year on The Hill and earned a spot on the First Team. The Atlanta, Ga., native had 65 total tackles - including 11 for loss - with six sacks, eight quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and even a blocked field goal. He set the standard once again in his second year, upping that mark to 46.0 yards per punt (53 for 2,436 total yards).   2020 ALL-CONFERENCE USA FOOTBALL SECOND TEAM (COACHES): DB-Devon Key, R-Sr., WKU,...A four-year starter on The Hill, Key broke through to the All-CUSA Second Team after earning Honorable Mention in 2019 and 2018 and an All-Freshman nod in 2017. The Lexington, Ky., native ranks fourth in C-USA with 86 total tackles, which pushed his career total to 344 as a Hilltopper. That mark of 344 ranks fourth among active FBS players and 10th all-time in WKU's 102-season program history.   Another Hilltopper has decided to enter the 2021 NFL Draft. Western Kentucky senior cornerback Dionte Ruffin announced his intentions to enter the draft Friday with a post on Twitter. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Kenner, La., native started all 12 games in WKU's 5-7 season this fall with 23 tackles, an interception and 11 pass breakups. He also recovered a fumble. - BG Daily News

  Trae Meadows has played his final game with Western Kentucky. The redshirt senior defensive back has decided not to use the blanket eligibility waiver the NCAA provided for 2020 fall sport student-athletes, and instead declared his intentions to enter the NFL draft in a Twitter post Thursday. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound nickelback started all 12 games for the 5-7 Hilltoppers this season. He recorded 28 tackles, including a sack and 2.5 tackles for loss, an interception, four pass breakups, a forced fumble and a blocked kick this fall. Meadows also started all 13 games in 2019 in his first season at WKU and was named a Conference USA Honorable Mention selection both seasons. - BG Daily News
