  SEPT 12 BIG SKY CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Desmond Williams (Weber State) led a Weber State defense that dominated FBS foe Utah State on the road for a 35-7 victory, as the secondary picked off the Aggies four times to earn the program's first win over an FBS foe since 1993. The defensive back finished the game with six tackles, a pass breakup and a timely interception that he returned for a touchdown to officially kill off all hopes of an Aggie comeback.   Kris Jackson had two of Weber State's five rushing touchdowns, Maxwell Anderson made two interceptions and the Wildcats beat Division II school Western Oregon 41-5 on Thursday night in a season opener for both teams. The Weber State defense forced three turnovers and held Western Oregon to 95 total yards. Jackson, Damon Bankston and Josh Davis each rushed for a touchdown in the first half as Weber State led 24-2. The Wildcats held Western Oregon to 53 yards in the first half. Jackson and Steven Shoats-Thomas added rushing touchdowns in the second half. Shoats-Thomas's scoring run of 13 yards was the only rushing touchdown over six yards. Davis had a team-high 53 yards rushing and Bankston added 42 for Weber State. Garrett Beck also made an interception. Gannon Winker was 15-of-33 passing for 129 yards with three interceptions for Western Oregon.   2022 PRESEASON BIG SKY FOOTBALL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM: OT Noah Atagi (Weber State),...Weber State football is picked to finish fourth in the 2022 Big Sky preseason polls, released Monday at the Big Sky Kickoff in Spokane. The Wildcats were selected fourth in both the coaches and media polls. After winning four-straight Big Sky titles from 2017-20, the Wildcats are coming off a 6-5 season in 2021. Weber State has five players returning that earned all-conference honors last season.

Head coach Jay Hill returns for his ninth season as head coach. He is WSU's all-time leader in coaching wins with 58 and is 44-17 in Big Sky Conference games. Montana was selected first in both the coaches and media polls. The coaches had Sacramento State in second place with Montana State third. The media picked MSU second and Sacramento State third. In addition, WSU junior offensive lineman Noah Atagi was named to the Big Sky preseason all-conference team.   2021 ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): WR Rashid Shaheed, Weber State,...Senior Rashid Shaheed was the only player in the Big Sky to receive all-conference honors at three positions. Shaheed was named to the all-conference first team as a kick returner and a punt returner, and was named to the second team as a wide receiver. He is just the third player in Weber State history to earn first team All-Big Sky honors four times in a career. This season he ranks eighth in the nation in all purpose yards, ninth in kickoff returns and 12th in punt returns.   Weber State set a program record with three interceptions returned for touchdowns, and the Wildcats clinched their seventh-straight winning season by beating Northern Colorado 48-17 on Saturday. It was the first home victory for the Wildcats (6-5, 5-3 Big Sky Conference), which closed the regular season winning five of its last seven. Desmond Williams, Braxton Gunther and Conner Mortensen returned interceptions 65 yards, 47 and 50 respectively. Northern Colorado led 10-3 midway through the second quarter, and Williams tied it when he intercepted Alec Lewis. The Bears went back up when Lewis threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Thomas with 6:02 before halftime. Weber State proceeded to go on a 38-0 run from there.   Kylan Weisser threw two touchdown passes and added a pair of TD runs to help Weber State beat Cal Poly 38-7 on Saturday night. Weisser was 11-of-16 passing for 143 yards, completing at least one pass to 10 different receivers. He capped a 12-play, 79-yard drive to open the game with a 1-yard touchdown run and scored on a 4-yard run early in the second quarter to make it 14-7 and Weber State (2-3, 1-1 Big Sky) led the rest of the way. Weisser threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Dave Jones midway through the period and Winston Reid's strip-sack of Cal Poly's Jackson Pavitt led to a 2-yard fumble return for a score by B.J. Taulele that made it 28-7 with 42 seconds left in the half. Cal Poly (1-4, 0-2), finished with just 115 total yards, has lost four straight since a season-opening win over San Diego. - AP College Football
