  Zevi Eckhaus threw for a season-high 334 yards with three touchdowns and Washington State piled up 628 yards of offense, beating Utah State 34-21 to win the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Monday at Albertsons Stadium. Eckhaus completed 26 of 44 passes but also threw three interceptions for the Cougars (7-6), who will return to a rebuilt Pac-12 Conference next season - along with the Aggies (6-7), and host school Boise State. Maxwell Woods carried nine times for 117 yards, becoming the first Cougar to top 100 this season. Defensive coordinator Jesse Bobbit filled in as interim head coach after the Cougars lost their third head man in three seasons when Jimmy Rogers left for Iowa State after one season. The Cougars lost head coach Jake Dickert to Wake Forest prior to Rogers’ arrival. WSU hired Missouri offensive coordinator Kirby Moore to take the reins next season. Moore was in attendance. Eckhaus fired a 41-yard touchdown pass to freshman Mackenzie Alleyne for a 7-0 lead after one quarter. Alleyne had one catch for 9 yards entering play.

Eckhaus threw interceptions on WSU’s next two drives but the Aggies failed to score. Eckhaus had a 1-yard touchdown toss to junior tight end Hudson Cedarland in the second quarter for a 14-0 lead at halftime. Cedarland entered with one career catch for 4 yards. Stevens kicked short field goals in the third quarter before Bryson Barnes scored on a 2-yard keeper to cut it to 20-7 heading to the fourth. Eckhaus had a 39-yard touchdown pass to Landon Wright in the fourth quarter as 12 different receivers finished with at least one catch. Backup quarterback Julian Dugger scored on a 34-yard run with four minutes remaining. Barnes had 116 yards on 9-for-21 passing for Utah State before a hard hit sent him to the sidelines in the second half. Backup Jacob Conover completed 5 of 7 for 78 yards with fourth-quarter touchdown throws to Brady Boyd covering 21 yards and a 26-yarder to Javen Jacobs with 1:48 remaining.   Caden Pinnick threw two of his five touchdown passes to Zach Jones, Jordan Fisher had 140 yards rushing, which included a 50-yard touchdown run, and UC Davis beat Rhode Island 47-20 on Saturday night in the second round of the FCS playoffs. No. 8 seed UC Davis (9-2) hosts unseeded Illinois State, which knocked off No. 1 seed North Dakota State 29-28 earlier Saturday, in the quarterfinals. Pinnick was 16-of-28 passing for 266 yards and had 99 yards rushing on 15 carries. Pinnick threw a 15-yard TD pass to Johnson with 18 seconds left in the second quarter and, after Rhode Island went three-and-out on the opening drive of the second half, Fisher's touchdown run less 2 1/2 minutes into the third quarter to give the Aggies a 25-20 lead. Antwain Littleton, Jr. had 123 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 16 carries for No. 9 seed Rhode Island (11-3).

UC Davis outgained the Rams 141-38 total yards in the first quarter but led just 3-0 after Hunter Ridley missed a 33-yard field-goal attempt on the first play of the second. Rhode Island responded with a nine-play, 80-yard drive that culminated when Littleton ran for a 2-yard touchdown on fourth-and-goal. Littleton ripped off a 63-yard scoring run with 7:05 left in the first half and Marquis Buchanan caught a 78-yard touchdown pass from Devin Farrell that gave URI a 20-11 lead about five minutes later. Jackson Sievers forced a fumble by Connor Finer that was recovered by Nate Rutchena and two plays later Pinnick threw a 9-yard TD pass to Ian Simpson. Samuel Gbatu Jr., who finished with 121 yards receiving, caught a 27-yard scoring strike from Pinnick on the first play of the fourth quarter to make it 40-20.   Zevi Eckhaus accounted for two touchdowns, and Washington State clinched bowl eligibility in coach Jimmy Rogers' inaugural season with a 32-8 victory over Oregon State on Saturday night in a rare regular-season rematch for the only members of the Pac-12 Conference. Oregon State beat Washington State 10-7 at home on Nov. 1. The Cougars won both games in 1945 the last time the teams played twice in the same year. Eckhaus completed 17 of 28 passes for 197 yards and added 63 yards rushing on nine carries. He tossed a 1-yard touchdown pass to Trey Leckner late in the second quarter to give the Cougars a 19-0 lead. Eckhaus' 5-yard TD run made it 25-0 with 4:51 remaining in the third.

Kirby Vorhees and Angel Johnson each had a short touchdown run for Washington State (6-6, 1-1). Tony Freeman had seven receptions for 84 yards. Tristan Ti'a was 28-of-41 passing for 240 yards. He threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Trent Walker late in the game and had two interceptions for Oregon State (2-10, 1-1). The Beavers ended their season losing three straight after beating the Cougars. Oregon State, which announced on Friday its next head coach will be Alabama co-offensive coordinator JaMarcus Shephard, along with Washington State, are part of a realigned Pac-12 Conference next season that includes Texas State and five current members of the Mountain West Conference. Rogers coached the previous two seasons at South Dakota State highlighted by a FCS National Championship in 2023. In conference play, Pinnick racked up 294.6 passing yards per game and tossed 18 touchdowns, which led all other Big Sky quarterbacks during that stretch.   Caden Pinnick threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns and UC Davis held on downs at its 27 in the closing seconds to win the 71st Causeway Classic 31-27 over Sacramento State on Saturday. The game was billed as a winner-take-all for a berth in the FCS playoffs with the Aggies (8-3, 6-2 Big Sky Conference), ranked 14th in the coaches' poll, holding off the rival Hornets (7-5, 5-3). Pinnick floated a perfect 30-yard pass to Samuel Gbatu for the go-ahead touchdown with 6:14 to play.

The Aggies led 14-0 after one quarter on a pair of short touchdown runs by Jordan Fisher. Then the Hornets scored touchdowns on four-straight possessions, aided by a pair of fumble recoveries, to lead 27-17 entering the fourth quarter. Rodney Hammond Jr., who had 140 yards on 22 carries, scored a pair of touchdowns for Sacramento State, Jamar Curtis, who had 105 yards, ran for a score and quarterback Cardell Williams had a rushing touchdown. Williams was 3 of 9 passing for 17 yards. Pinnick hit Fisher with a 3-yard touchdown to cap a 75-yard drive. After an interception, the Aggies missed a potential tying field goal.   Zevi Eckhaus threw a touchdown pass before running for two scores and Washington State cruised to a 28-3 victory over Louisiana Tech on Saturday night. Eckhaus finished off the first possession for Washington State (5-5) with a 23-yard touchdown pass to Joshua Meredith and the Cougars led 7-0 after one quarter. Eckhaus ran it in from the 7-yard line on a keeper for 14-0 advantage. Drew Henderson missed a 56-yard field goal on the final play of the half, but the Cougars jumped offside and Henderson nailed a second-chance 51-yarder to get Louisiana Tech (5-5) on the scoreboard. Eckhaus scored on a 1-yard run early in the fourth quarter to finish a 14-play, 66-yard drive that began in the third period and took 8:39 off the clock.

Kirby Vorhees capped the scoring with a 19-yard touchdown run with 1:12 remaining and finished with 76 yards on 16 carries. Eckhaus completed 17 of 25 passes for 146 yards and carried 11 times for 56 yards. The Bulldogs managed just 167 total yards, 107 on the ground. Washington State, playing as an independent before returning to a revamped Pac-12 Conference next season, and Conference USA member Louisiana Tech met for the first time.   Caden Pinnick threw three touchdown passes and ran for a score to guide UC Davis to a 35-14 victory over Idaho on Saturday night. Pinnick staked UC Davis (7-2, 5-1 Big Sky Conference) to a 14-0 first-quarter lead with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Ian Simpson and an 8-yarder to Samuel Gbatu Jr. Joshua Wood capped a two-play drive drive when he fired a 68-yard scoring strike to Michael Graves as Idaho (4-6, 2-4) pulled within 14-7 just 11 seconds into the second quarter. Pinnick scored on a 22-yard run to finish off a 10-play, 94-yard drive with 2:17 left for a 21-7 advantage at halftime.

Pinnick's 3-yard scoring toss to Stacy Dobbins was the lone score in the third quarter. Wood connected with Graves again for a 35-yard touchdown and the Vandals cut it to 28-14 with 11:35 left to play. Wood drove Idaho to a first-and-goal at the 10-yard line with 2:46 remaining, but Jayden Stanley intercepted his fourth-down pass to end the threat. Pinnick finished with 248 yards on 21-for-27 passing with two interceptions. Gbatu had seven receptions for 110 yards and Jordan Fisher rushed for 103 yards on 21 carries.   Zevi Eckhaus threw two touchdown passes and opened the scoring with a 7-yard TD run to help Washington State beat Toledo 28-7 on Saturday. Eckhaus was 10-of-22 passing for 159 yards with two interceptions and added a game-high 74 yards rushing on 15 carries. Kirby Vorhees finished with 62 yards rushing for Washington State (4-4) and his 6-yard touchdown run capped the scoring with 2:21 to play.

Tony Freeman caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Eckhaus that capped an 11-play, 80-yard drive with 4:00 left in the second quarter and Eckhaus threw a 35-yard TD pass to Cater Pabst that made it 21-0 with 51 second left.   WEEK 7 BIG SKY OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Caden Pinnick, UC Davis (QB, R-Fr., Loomis, Calif.),...For the second-straight week Caden Pinnick threw for over 300 yards on his way to leading No. 6 UC Davis to a 45-24 victory over No. 14 Northern Arizona, moving the Aggies to 3-0 in Big Sky play. Pinnick finished the night completing 25-of-29 passes for 348 yards and five passing touchdowns. The five passing touchdowns were the most thrown by an Aggie in a single game since 2018. The 86.2% completion percentage marks the second-straight week the freshman has completed at least 80% of his passes in a game. On the national stage, Pinnick's five passing touchdowns are tied for the second most in the FCS this season. Pinnick's 243.9 passing efficiency is the highest of the season in the Big Sky for a single game and ranks as the 13th highest of the season in the FCS. Pinnick has now won conference weekly honors three times this season, all coming in consecutive weeks. The three-straight offensive weekly honors are the most for a Big Sky player since Dalton Sneed won three consecutive honors during the 2019 season.   Freshman Caden Pinnick threw three of his season-high five touchdown passes in the fourth quarter and UC Davis pulled away for a 45-24 victory over Northern Arizona on Saturday night. Hunter Ridley kicked a 42-yard field goal midway through the first quarter to put UC Davis (5-1, 3-0 Big Sky Conference), ranked No. 6 in the FCS coaches poll, up 3-0. Ty Pennington connected with Kolbe Katsis for a 20-yard touchdown on the final play of the quarter and Northern Arizona (4-3, 1-2) took a 7-3 lead. Pinnick fired a 31-yard touchdown pass to Samuel Gbatu Jr. midway through the second quarter and the Aggies took a 10-7 lead into halftime.

Jordan Fisher scored on a 59-yard run two plays into the third quarter to push the Aggies' lead to 10, but Quran Gossett answered with a 7-yard scoring run to cut it to 17-14. Pinnick fired a 50-yard scoring strike to Carter Vargas for a 10-point advantage, but Samuel Hunsaker's field goal cut it to 24-17 heading to the fourth quarter. Pinnick hit Gbatu for a 4-yard score before adding touchdown throws to Stacy Dobbins and Mitchell Dixon covering 10 and 7 yards, respectively, to help the Aggies pull away. Pinnick completed 25 of 29 passes for a season-high 348 yards. Gbatu had seven receptions for 114 yards and Fisher added 104 yards on 14 rushes.   Zevi Eckhaus threw a touchdown pass and Washington State's defense held Colorado State without a touchdown at home for the first time in 85 games as the Cougars cruised to a 20-3 victory on Saturday night. Washington State (3-2) held a road opponent without a touchdown for the first time since October of 2006. The Cougars surrendered 59 points twice in back-to-back losses to North Texas and Washington entering the game. It was the first road win for first-year coach Jimmy Rogers. Colorado State (1-3) turned the opening possession into a 50-yard field goal by Isaiah Hankins and a 3-0 lead against its future Pac-12 Conference opponent.

Eckhaus had a 35-yard touchdown pass to Jeremiah Noga and Jack Stevens followed with a 37-yard field goal as Washington State scored on its first two possessions for a 10-3 lead. Leo Pulalasi had the Cougars' longest run of the season when he rushed up the middle for 45 yards to the Rams' 8-yard line before they settled for Stevens' 21-yard field goal and a 13-3 advantage with 5:16 left before halftime. Tucker Large and Caleb Francl, who also had a fumble recovery, stuffed the Rams' Tahj Bullock on fourth down and a half-yard at midfield and Eckhaus turned it into a 2-yard touchdown toss to tight end Ademola Faleye on third and goal for a 20-3 lead at the half. Eckhaus completed 16 of 28 passes for 189 yards. Pulalasi rushed three times for 50 yards.   Caden Pinnick threw two touchdown passes, Jordan Fisher and Carter Vargas both ran for two scores and UC Davis pulled away in the second half to beat Southern Utah 50-34 Saturday night. Pinnick connected with Mitchell Dixon for an 8-yard touchdown and Vargas added touchdown runs of 23 and 47 yards as the Aggies (2-1) turned a two-point lead midway through the third quarter into a 50-27 advantage with 9:29 left to play.

Zach Jones ran 11 yards for a score and Pinnick hit tight end Winston Williams for a 10-yard touchdown and a 14-0 lead. Bronson Barron connected with Gabe Nunez for a 28-yard touchdown to cut it to 14-7 after one quarter and then hit Braedon Wissler for a 15-yard score to tie it 14-14 with 7:01 left in the second. Fisher scored on a 6-yard run and Dylan Mauro ran in the two-point conversion to put UC Davis up 22-14 with six minutes left in the half.
