Britain Covey added a career-high 134 yards and a touchdown on six catches to help power the Utes' comeback effort. Backup quarterback Drew Lisk threw for 152 yards in relief of starter Jake Bentley. Washington State (1-3, 1-3) closed the 2020 season with its third straight loss.

Lisk breathed new life into Utah's offense after Benchley got benched late in the second quarter. He led Utah on three straight second-half touchdown drives to erase a 21-point deficit. Jordan scored twice on the three drives and tied it at 28 with 12:01 left when he bounced outside on fourth-and-2 and sprinted 33 yards untouched down the sideline for the score. Washington State committed turnovers on its final four drives to open the door for Utah to take the lead and complete an improbable comeback. - AP College Football

  12/12/20 - Ty JordanSo/2024, Utah, 5-07, 200 (DS#999 RB) + More +

Ty Jordan scored twice, including a game-sealing 66-yard TD burst, and Utah's revamped defense forced three turnovers to help the Utes rally past No. 21 Colorado 38-21 on a snowy Saturday to thwart the Buffaloes' Pac-12 title hopes. The soon-to-be-unseated Pac-12 South champion Utes (2-2, 2-2 Pac-12) found their footing on the frozen field in the second half, turning around 21-10 deficit by scoring 28 unanswered points. Colorado freshman receiver/returner Brenden Rice, the son of Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice, showed off his speed by scoring twice — on an 81-yard punt return and on a 61-yard catch off a bubble screen. But it wasn't enough as the Buffaloes (4-1, 3-1, No. 21 CFP) suffered their first loss under new coach Karl Dorrell during the earliest kickoff (10:05 a.m. local time) in Folsom Field history.

As things currently stand, it ends Colorado's Pac-12 title aspirations. The Buffaloes needed a win along with UCLA beating No. 16 Southern California later Saturday to capture the South. There could be a modification by the league given the cancellation of Washington (3-1, 3-1) and Oregon (3-2, 3-2) due to COVID-19 cases in the Huskies' program. That game was set to determine the North champion. Colorado's last appearance in the Pac-12 title game was 2016, when the team beat Utah in the regular season finale to wrap up a spot. - Utah/AP College Football

  12/11/20 - Ty JordanSo/2024, Utah, 5-07, 200 (DS#999 RB) + More +

Ty Jordan was always passionate about football, but didn't have much, if any background in track and field. That changed not long after Jordan arrived at West Mesquite High School, roughly 15 miles outside of Dallas, in the fall of 2016. "It was told to me my freshman year, 'You gotta start running track, it's going to help you with football,'" the University of Utah freshman running back told reporters on a Zoom call Tuesday morning. "Me being so passionate about football, this is going to make me better, make me faster, make me a better athlete, then hey, this is what I'm going to do."

As a running back standing 5-foot-7, sprinting was a natural fit for Jordan, who was named Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Week Monday after rushing for 167 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries in the Utes' 30-24 win over Oregon State Saturday night. Not only was the 100-meter dash a good fit for Jordan, despite not training in the event year-round in a state that is never short on elite sprinters, Jordan managed to excel. Jordan ran a personal-best 10.52 as a junior at West Mesquite after going 10.83 or better eight times as a sophomore. For a football player moonlighting as a sprinter, Jordan was no slouch at 200 meters, either, hitting a personal-best 22.06 as a sophomore. "Track, training for track, getting that speed in, really helped my game," Jordan said. "It allows me to do certain things that I wouldn't normally be able to do without it." - Salt Lake Tribune

2020 PATRICK MANNELLY AWARD SEMIFINALIST: Keegan Markgraf, Utah,...Markgraf has taken 139 career snaps as Utah's starting snapper, including 55 punts, 19 field goals and 64 PATs. He has been a part of 22 snaps this season with the Utes going 4-for-4 on field goals and 8-of-8 on PATs with 10 punts. Markgraf first made his appearance for the Utes in 2018 after transferring from Central Michigan, handling all PATs and field goals for Matt Gay's record breaking year where he led the Pac-12 and finished third in the country in field goals made.

He also took over long snapping duties in 2018 for Mitch Wishnowsky's All-America season when he was named a Ray Guy Award finalist. Markgraf is also an outstanding part of the team off the field, graduating in the spring of 2020 with a degree in economics with a 3.829 GPA after earning CoSIDA Academic All-District and Pac-12 All-Academic Team honors. He is currently pursuing a Master's in economics. - Utah Football
