  EJ Colson threw two touchdown passes to Jalen Walthall, Timothy Carter rushed for 141 yards and two scores and Incarnate Word breezed to a 38-3 victory over Northwestern State on Saturday. Colson had a 6-yard touchdown toss to Walthall at the end of an 87-yard drive for a 7-0 lead on the first possession for Incarnate Word (4-6, 2-4 Southland Conference). Grayson Lytton kicked a 28-yard field goal to get Northwestern State (1-9, 0-6) on the scoreboard, but Carter answered with a 5-yard touchdown run and the Cardinals led 14-3 after one quarter.

Colson and Walthall teamed up for a 46-yard touchdown to finish off an 84-yard drive for a 21-3 lead midway through the second quarter. Kobe Dillon had a 13-yard touchdown run with 1:15 remaining for a 28-3 halftime advantage. Carter broke loose for a 68-yard score in the third quarter and Will Faris kicked a 48-yard field goal in the fourth. Colson completed 22 of 28 passes for 263 yards and Walthall totaled 178 yards on nine catches. Carter did his damage on 11 carries. Dillon rushed 10 times for 70 yards as the Cardinals outgained the Demons 215-100 on the ground. Abram Johnston had 99 yards on 12-for-19 passing for Northwestern State. - AP College Football

  EJ Colson threw three first-half touchdown passes and Incarnate Word held on for a 24-17 victory over Lamar on Saturday. Colson had a 1-yard touchdown toss to Jalen Walthall at the end of a 14-play drive for a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter and Incarnate Word's Cardinals (3-6, 1-4) never trailed in dealing Lamar's Cardinals (7-2, 4-1) their first Southland Conference defeat while ending their seven-game win streak. Colson connected with Jackson Lowe for an 8-yard touchdown at the 6:48 mark of the second, before hitting Josh Lorick for a 45-yard score with 38 seconds left to give Incarnate Word a 21-3 lead at halftime. The advantage was 24-3 after Will Faris' 39-yard field goal was the lone score in the third quarter. Joshua Robinson capped a 10-play drive with a 1-yard touchdown run early in the final period. Robert Coleman threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Jaydn Girard with 70 seconds left to set the final margin. Colson totaled 161 yards on 21-for-28 passing. Lorick had eight catches for 90 yards.   EJ Colson ran for two touchdowns and passed for a third, leading Incarnate Word to a 31-7 victory over Abilene Christian on Saturday night. After Abilene Christian took a 7-0 lead on a 21-yard pass from Stone Earle to Dallas Dudley, Colson delivered a short touchdown pass and a short TD run, leading UIW to a 17-7 halftime lead. In the third quarter, Colson added a 3-yard touchdown run at the end of a 16-play, 76-yard drive. On the next play from scrimmage, Declan Williams intercepted a pass by Earle and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown and a commanding 31-7 lead.

The No. 24 FCS Cardinals (2-3) finished off the win with a 79-yard drive that ended with an 11-yard touchdown run by Jaylon Spears that took 5:20 off the clock and left 1:10 to play. Colson passed for 122 yards and ran for 103. Lontrell Turner had 118 yards to lead the Cardinals' 301-yard rushing effort. UIW led in total yards 423-248. For the Wildcats, Earle passed for 141 yards and Rovaughn Banks Jr. added 110 yards on the ground.   - UTEP defensive end Jadrian Taylor announced that he would enter his name into the 2023 NFL Draft. Taylor made the announcement on his Twitter on Sunday night. Taylor is coming off a spectacular 2022 season. In 12 games played, Taylor recorded 42 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. That one fumble recovery led to Taylor going 100-yards for a touchdown at Charlotte. Taylor's 9.5 total sacks on the season were enough to lead Conference USA. The cherry on top of his senior season was a place on the 2022 All-Conference USA first team. - KTSM

Taylor totaled 3.0 sacks at Charlotte while he registered a career-high eight tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and recorded a pair of sacks against FAU. The Harrisburg, N.C., product led the Miners with 14.5 tackles for loss (52 yards), while rating second in C-USA.
