Griffin Kell kicked a 40-yard field goal on the final play of the game, and fourth-ranked TCU beat Baylor 29-28 on Saturday, scoring nine points in the final 2:07 to avoid another potential playoff-busting loss on the banks of the Brazos River. Emari Demercardo scored on a 3-yard TD run with 2:07 left to get the Frogs (11-0, 8-0 Big 12, No. 4 CFP) within 28-26, but he was unable to pull in a pass on the 2-point conversion attempt. After kicking deep, TCU used all three of its timeouts while forcing a three-and-out, and got the ball back with 1:34 left at its 31. Max Duggan converted one third down with a 12-yard scramble, and after Demarcardo's third-down run to the Baylor 23, the field goal unit scrambled onto the field with the clock running. The kick by Kell, who earlier had an extra-point attempt clank off the upright, went through as time ran out.

TCU, which had already clinched a spot in the Big 12 championship game, hasn't been undefeated this deep in a season since 2010, when it finished 13-0 with a Rose Bowl victory and No. 2 national ranking. When the Frogs played at McLane Stadium for the first time in 2014, after the facility first opened, they lost 61-58. That was their only loss that season, and they went on to share the Big 12 title with Baylor. They were the first two teams left out of the inaugural four-team College Football Playoff. Kendre Miller rushed for 138 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown in the third quarter that broke open a tense defensive struggle, and No. 4 TCU beat No. 18 Texas 17-10 on Saturday night to clinch a berth in the Big 12 championship game. TCU quarterback Max Duggan, who was sacked four times in the first half and hounded all game, connected with Quentin Johnston for a 31-yard touchdown over broken coverage in the fourth quarter.

The TCU defense turned in its best game of the season. The Horned Frogs held Texas running back Bijan Robinson to 29 yards, gave up just 199 total yards, and forced Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers into a miserable passing night. The Horned Frogs allowed Texas a single field goal on consecutive drives inside the TCU 10 in the second half. The win keeps the Horned Frogs (10-0, 7-0) undefeated and in the hunt for even bigger things under first-year coach Sonny Dykes. They are No. 4 in the College Football Playoff ranking. Texas (6-4, 4-3, No. 18 CFP) hasn't scored an offensive touchdown in the second half of each of the last three games. Kevorian Barnes and Brenden Brady scored two touchdowns apiece and UTSA beat Lousiana Tech 51-7 on Saturday, assuring the Roadrunners of at least a tie for the Conference USA championship. UTSA (8-2, 6-0), which has won seven straight, finishes the regular season with games versus Rice and UTEP. The Roadrunners scored on nine of their 10 possessions, picking up 20 points off four of their five takeaways.

Frank Harris threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Joshua Cephus, Barnes ran 46 yards for another, and Brady scored from a yard out to jump out in front 21-0. It was 34-7 at halftime. Barnes finished with 103 yards on 11 carries, Brady added 53 to UTSA's total 258 on the ground. Harris was 18-of-26 passing for 216 yards with a 32-yard TD pass to Smoke Harris late in the first quarter. Derius Davis returned the first punt 82 yards for a touchdown, Kendre Miller ran for the go-ahead score early in the fourth quarter and No. 7 TCU pulled away in a 34-24 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday. Davis caught one of Max Duggan's two fourth-quarter TD passes as the Horned Frogs reached 9-0 for the first time since 2010, a 13-0 season that ended with a Rose Bowl victory and No. 2 national ranking. The previous perfect run for TCU (6-0 in Big 12 this season) came in the Mountain West Conference and was before the College Football Playoff. The nine-game winning streak is the longest since the Horned Frogs won 16 straight over the 2014-15 seasons. In 2014, one-loss TCU had joined the Big 12 but was left out of the first four-team CFP.

The Red Raiders (4-5, 2-4) went ahead 17-13 in the third quarter on Tyler Shough's 33-yard touchdown pass to J.J. Sparkman, but ended up falling to 2-4 against ranked teams in coach Joey McGuire's first season. Defensive standout Tyree Wilson made the first big play for Texas Tech with a fourth-down tackle for loss when TCU was driving up 7-0 after Darius' return up the right sideline and back toward the middle. Wilson, though, sparked the Horned Frogs' go-ahead drive with a facemask penalty when his sack of Duggan would have put TCU in third and long. A pass interference penalty in the end zone put the ball at the 2-yard line, and Miller extended his rushing TD streak to 10 games on the next play for a 20-17 lead. Miller surpassed 100 yards rushing for the sixth time in seven games, finishing with a season-high 158 yards on 21 carries. During his weekly press conference, Baylor head coach Dave Aranda announced that tight end Drake Dabney broke his fibula against Texas Tech and had surgery on Monday. This will likely end Dabney's 2022 season just as he had emerged into a big role for the Bears' offense. "We're going to miss him," Aranda said. "When I look at Drake, I think of just this year, all the improvement he made and just his mindset toward work. He was progressing from ... here's a guy who can block when Ben [Sims is] getting out on the routes, to here's Drake, here's your game plan, here's your routes, here's your matchups. He was looking forward to more of that." During Saturday's contest in Lubbock, Dabney hauled in a reception before staying down on the ground in visible pain. Max Duggan threw three touchdown passes, Kendre Miller ran for 120 yards and a score and No. 7 TCU used big plays on offense to beat West Virginia 41-31 Saturday to remain unbeaten. The Horned Frogs (8-0, 5-0 Big 12) didn’t need a comeback from a double-digit deficit like they did in their two previous games. Duggan staked TCU to a 28-21 halftime lead and that held up. But West Virginia (3-5, 1-4), which was coming off a season-low 282 yards of offense in a lopsided loss at last week at Texas Tech, gave the Horned Frogs a fight. JT Daniels threw a 23-yard TD pass to Reese Smith with 4:12 left to cut the Mountaineers' deficit to 34-31. TCU recovered the ensuing onside kick, but Duggan was intercepted by Malachi Ruffin at the West Virginia 16, giving the Mountaineers another chance. West Virginia was forced to punt, and Duggan found Savion Williams with a 29-yard scoring toss on fourth down with 20 seconds left. Duggan finished 16 of 28 for 341 yards.

TCU had four plays of at least 50 yards, with three going for touchdowns. After combining for 637 yards of offense before halftime, both teams squandered several second-half touchdown chances from inside the opponent's 20. The Mountaineers recovered a muffed punt at the TCU 17 early in the third quarter, but settled for a field goal. On its next possession, West Virginia drove to the TCU 4, but Daniels threw incomplete into the end zone on fourth down. TCU then drove 95 yards to the West Virginia 1. Quentin Johnston was tackled for an 11-yard loss on third down, resulting in a short field goal for a 31-24 lead. West Virginia mistakes contributed to TCU's first three touchdowns. Duggan took advantage of blown coverage in the secondary, throwing TD tosses of 71 yards to Taye Barber and 55 yards to Johnston. Midway through the second quarter, Daniels was hit going back to pass and fumbled. TCU recovered at its 49 and Miller scored untouched on the next play for a 21-14 lead. Max Duggan threw for 280 yards with three touchdowns and Kendre Miller ran for 153 yards and two scores as eighth-ranked TCU again rallied from a big early deficit to stay undefeated, beating No. 17 Kansas State 38-28 on Saturday night to take over sole possession of first place in the Big 12 Conference. Duggan's 55-yard strike to Quentin Johnston late in the third quarter put the Horned Frogs (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) ahead to stay. That was their third consecutive drive to finish in the end zone. The Frogs, with new coach Sonny Dykes, have won four consecutive games over ranked opponents. Three in a row was already a first in school history, which they accomplished a week earlier at home by overcoming a 17-point deficit to beat then-No. 8 Oklahoma State in double overtime.

Kansas State (5-2, 3-1) had jumped out to a 28-10 lead when Will Howard threw for two touchdowns and ran for another after taking over for banged-up quarterback Adrian Martinez on its second drive. Deuce Vaughn's 47-yard run for his first touchdown in five games capped the fourth consecutive TD drive for the K-State. Howard ran for 14 yards on his first play and completed his first seven passes for 156 yards. He finished 13 of 20 for 225 yards, leaving the game briefly after hurting his shoulder on a running play late in the third quarter. Freshman Jake Rubley, the third K-State QB in the game, threw an interception on his first pass that came after TCU had gone ahead to stay. Miller scored on a 2-yard run on fourth-and-1 on the opening drive of the second half to get TCU within 28-24. After Kansas State missed a field goal attempt, the Frogs needed only four plays before Duggan's long TD to Johnston. Rubley was stopped short on fourth-and-1 early in the fourth quarter, setting up a drive that ended with a 9-yard scoring run by Miller. TCU linebacker Marcel Brooks is "probably out for the rest of the year" after undergoing surgery today, according to head coach Sonny Dykes. "We're sad to hear [Brooks is out]," said Dykes. "I really hate it for Marcel. He's just had a hard time staying healthy and there's nobody that's worked any harder than he has to get back out there. Disappointed about that but I know he'll come back and do everything he can to participate in Spring ball and certainly be ready by next fall." In three games this season, Brooks recorded five tackles. He missed the first three games of the season due to a rib injury. The senior QB totaled 343 yards of offense and three touchdowns. He was 23 of 40 through the air with two scores and rushed 11 times for 57 yards and a TD. TCU trailed by 14 in the fourth quarter before Duggan led a 94-yard scoring drive that tied the game with less than two minutes to play. His one-yard scoring run moved him past Andy Dalton (22, 2007-10) and into a tie with Kenneth Davis (1982-85) for eighth in TCU history. Kendre Miller scored on a 2-yard run in the second overtime and 13th-ranked TCU beat No. 8 Oklahoma State 43-40 in a matchup of the Big 12's last remaining undefeated teams Saturday. Fans stormed the field after Miller got into the end zone for the Horned Frogs (6-0, 3-0 Big 12), who had gone into the fourth quarter trailing by two touchdowns. "Great win for our program," first-year TCU coach Sonny Dykes said. The teams traded touchdowns in the first overtime, with receivers getting wide open for big plays. Max Duggan threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open Quentin Johnston on the second play of overtime for TCU. The Cowboys were then facing fourth-and-9 when Spencer Sanders found Braydon Johnson by himself for a 23-yard gain to the 1, setting up Dominic Richardson's tying TD run. "It shows the culture of this team," Duggan said of the comeback. Oklahoma State (5-1, 2-1) got the ball to start the second overtime, but after a holding penalty and three incomplete passes in a row, the Cowboys had to settle for Tanner Brown's fourth field goal, a 52-yarder.

Miller finished with 104 yards rushing on 22 carries, including another TD on a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter. Duggan completed 23 of 40 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns, while Johnston had eight catches for 180 yards. "He has a burning desire to be a great player," Dykes said of Johnston. "He's not an Instagram guy. He just likes to play football." Sanders ran for touchdowns on Oklahoma State's first two drives of the game, but was only 16-of-36 passing for 245 yards with a touchdown and an interception after not practicing all week. He dinged his right (throwing) shoulder late in their win over Texas Tech last week, but insisted he was fine and that the lack of practice wasn't the problem. His 24-yard touchdown catch with 1:36 to play provided the winning score. The 14 catches were the most by a Horned Frog since Josh Doctson had 18 in a 55-52 win at Texas Tech in 2015.
