  10/20/19 - *Justin MadubuikerJr/2020, Texas AM, 6-3, 293 (DS#6 DT) + More +

Texas A&M defensive tackle Justin Madubuike needed less than five minutes to turn two game-changing plays Saturday night that lifted the Aggies to a 24-17 comeback win over Mississippi. "I just tried to put myself in position to make big plays for my team, said Madubuike, who finished with five tackles, including a tackle for loss and a quarterback hurry. "It's blocking a ball, sacking a quarterback and all those little things that helped us come out with a win." Trailing 14-10 midway through the third quarter, Madubuike teamed with Jhamon Ausbon to force a fumble on a sack of Ole Miss quarterback John Rhys Plumlee. Linebacker Buddy Johnson scooped the loose ball and returned it for a 62-yard touchdown that gave the Aggies a 17-14 lead they never surrendered.

On the ensuing drive by the Rebels, Madubuike swatted away a potential game-tying 35-yard field goal. The Aggies (4-3, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) added a clinching touchdown drive, capped by a 22-yard touchdown run from Isaiah Spiller, to survive a game that featured five lead changes, four turnovers and three missed field goals. "You've got to learn to win on the bad days," Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher said. "You have to find a way to come out on top and I give our team credit for that." Kellen Mond was 16 of 28 for 172 yards passing and added 76 yards rushing on 15 attempts for the Aggies. Braden Mann kept Ole Miss in poor field position with five punts for a 52.2 yard average, with a final fourth quarter kick of 55 yards that rolled out at the Ole Miss 1-yard line. - Texas A&M/AP College Football

  09/28/19 - Kellen MondSr/2021, Texas AM, 6-3, 211 (DS#8 QB) + More +

No. 23 Texas A&M had a chance to really take control early when big defensive tackle Justin Madubuike intercepted a pass at the goal line. That's just not what happens when the Aggies, even when favored by more than three touchdowns, play Arkansas. These games are always close. Kellen Mond threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns, and Quartney Davis' second TD catch put the Aggies ahead to stay in a 31-27 win Saturday over Arkansas, which drove to the A&M 19 in the final minute before a fourth-down incompletion. "I wouldn't say it's embarrassing. I've been playing this game for the past three years and it seems like every year it comes down to the wire," Davis said. "It's a pretty interesting game."

Instead of the Aggies (3-2, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) seizing momentum after Madubuike picked off the pass by Nick Starkel, DeJon Harris scooped up a fumble and returned it 6 yards for a touchdown on the next play to get Arkansas within 14-10 with 5 ½ minutes left in the first half. Starkel, the grad transfer who played for Texas A&M the past two seasons, sustained a significant bruise on his left (non-throwing) arm when tackling the 304-pound Madubuike and didn't return. "I had never had an interception in my life," Madubuike said. "I just looked up to see where the ball was and it just appeared right to my left peripheral. I turned and it was right there, and grabbed it and tried to run, and he tried to tackle me." - Texas A&M/AP College Football

  09/14/19 - *Isaiah SpillerJr/2022, Texas AM, 6-0, 217 (DS#3 RB) + More +

Freshman Isaiah Spiller ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns and Kellen Mond threw for 317 yards with a touchdown pass and a run in three quarters to lead No. 16 Texas A&M to a 62-3 rout of Lamar on Saturday night. "Overall a very solid game and we better be because we've got conference play coming next week," coach Jimbo Fisher said. Spiller shined in the first game since Jashaun Corbin sustained a season-ending hamstring injury last week at Clemson, running for touchdowns of 1 and 34 yards. "He played well," Fisher said. "Each and every time he goes out there he's getting better. He's never perfect but he's always improving."

Mond was 20 of 28 with an interception. The Aggies (2-1) led 27-0 at halftime but Mond tried to throw in between two defenders on his first drive of the third quarter and was intercepted by Cameron Hayes. But the Cardinals couldn't get anything going on offense and had to punt. Mond found Jhamon Ausbon, who had 109 yards receiving, for a 26-yard catch to get the next drive going and Spiller capped it with a 34-yard run to make it 34-0 midway through the third. - Texas A&M/AP College Football

  08/29/19 - Kellen MondSr/2021, Texas AM, 6-3, 211 (DS#8 QB) + More +

With Texas A&M's date against No. 1 Clemson looming next week, it would have been easy for the Aggies to take 33 1/2 point underdog Texas State lightly. After the 12th-ranked Aggies easily handled the Bobcats, coach Jimbo Fisher said he never worried about his team looking past its first opponent. "I'm telling you there was no looking at Clemson, doing anything with Clemson and that's a fact," he said. "We've learned that. We're not going to do that...you've got to learn to play the game at hand and I thought they did that."

Kellen Mond threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score in just more than three quarters, and Texas A&M had four interceptions in the 41-7 rout. Mond, who threw for 194 yards, had touchdown passes of 21 and 3 yards and ran for another score in the first two quarters as Texas A&M raced to a 28-0 halftime lead. Fisher raved about Mond's improvement since last season. "I think he's really in a good place right now," Fisher said. "Command of things is really good. He really understands what's going on." - AP College Football
