  11/07/20 - Kellen MondSr/2021, Texas AM, 6-3, 211 (DS#8 QB) + More +

Kellen Mond threw four touchdown passes to become Texas A&M's career leader, Isaiah Spiller ran for 131 yards and the No. 7 Aggies routed South Carolina 48-3 on Saturday night. Mond moved past Jerrod Jefferson with the 68th touchdown pass of his career, a 52-yarder to Devon Achane in the third quarter with the game long decided. Mond also ran for a score to help Texas A&M improve to 5-1 - all in the Southeastern Conference - for its best start since opening 6-0 in 2016. The Aggies are 7-0 against the Gamecocks.

Mond and Spiller helped the Aggies open a 21-0 halftime lead and cruise to their fourth consecutive victory since a loss at Alabama last month. Spiller had two short pickups for first downs - one on a fourth-and-1 with Texas A&M in chip-shot field goal range - before Mond flipped a 4-yard TD pass to Ainias Smith. Mond found tight end Jalen Wydermeyer for two first-half scores. Wydermyer was left all alone and walked into the end zone on a 15-yard scoring grab. Right before half, Mond hit Wydermyer on a crossing route near the goal line to go up three scores. South Carolina (2-4), coming off an off week, had no answer. - AP College Football

  11/02/20 - Kellen MondSr/2021, Texas AM, 6-3, 211 (DS#8 QB) + More +

Mond was 21 of 26 passing for 260 yards and three touchdowns, and his team piled up 182 yards rushing against the Razorbacks (2-3). "It is a good feeling and I think that is the goal for the offense, not to turn the ball over," Mond said. "Arkansas did a really good job in past games of turning the ball over, but I think we used the film and are really just able to trust our eyes and find holes in the zone and make plays when they played man. "The receivers did a really good job tonight."

Mond became Texas A&M's all-time yardage leader during his game. His 10,015 yards surpassed Johnny Manziel's previous mark of 9,989 yards, which was accomplished in just two seasons. "It's a tremendous feeling and I have worked so hard each and every year and continued to grind," Mond said. "I've understood through the years that I have had a lot of growth to make, but I think that is part of everyone's growth, being able to look yourself in the mirror and continue to grow. "I have had so many phenomenal coaches and players that I have played with, so a lot of that thanks goes to those people." - Northwest Arkansas Times

  10/29/20 - Kellen MondSr/2021, Texas AM, 6-3, 211 (DS#8 QB) + More +

While Feleipe Franks will be the fourth starting quarterback for the University of Arkansas against Texas A&M in four years, Kellen Mond has been a constant for the Aggies. Mond - a senior who is Texas A&M's leader in career pass completions (693), attempts (1,191) and yards (8,363) - will make his fourth consecutive start against the Razorbacks (2-2) for the No. 8 Aggies (3-1) at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Kyle Field. "Mond's been there since 1922," Arkansas Coach Sam Pittman said. "Is the guy ever going to graduate and get out of there? He's been there forever, and what a really good player he is." Mond's first of 38 career starts came against Arkansas in 2017. Thrust into the lineup as a true freshman because of an injury to Nick Starkel - who later transferred to Arkansas, then San Jose State - Mond helped the Aggies beat the Razorbacks 50-43 in overtime.

Mond completed 14 of 27 passes for 218 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 10-yarder to Christian Kirk for a score on the first possession of overtime to put Texas A&M ahead. The Aggies held on to win when Armani Watts intercepted an Austin Allen pass. Mond also rushed 10 times for 109 yards in the 2017 matchup. "I definitely think it was a breakout game for me," Mond said on a video call Monday. "Having that opportunity to go to overtime and then throwing a big-time, game-winning pass to Christian Kirk was huge. "It's something I remember very vividly. It definitely was one of the big-time plays I've had in my career." - Northwest Arkansas Times

  10/23/20 - *Bobby Brown IIIJr/2021, Texas AM, 6-4, 321 (DS#14 DT) + More +

In today's football, if a sack occurs without a celebration, is it even really a sack? Following in this ritual, Texas A&M defensive tackle Bobby Brown III initiated a high-knee stomping routine after tackling Florida quarterback Kyle Trask late in the third quarter of the Aggies' 41-38 win. The result was an injured leg, that kept him out of Saturday's win at Mississippi State. Head coach Jimbo Fisher said Monday that he doesn't fault Brown for getting caught up in the excitement of the moment. "It's hard to say, 'Guys, don't enjoy making a play,'" Fisher said. "This game is so hard to prepare for to play. The rigors of playing football and the physicality of practice - not to enjoy the moment you have success on the field, but you have to keep it in temperament and pray to God your guy doesn't get hurt." Fisher said Brown is "fine," but held himself out of the Mississippi State game saying he wasn't ready. "He didn't feel like he could go in the game, so he should be ready to go this week, hopefully," Fisher said. Brown has nine tackles this season, including the one sack and a quarterback hurry. In three seasons, he's made 44 tackles, four tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Teammate Lloyd, who will start at Utah's other starting linebacker spot for the second straight year, has similar thoughts about Sewell. He sees the position a better fit for Sewell. "He's very aggressive downhill, great tackler, great in space. So I think that element has helped us in terms of bringing that to the room," Lloyd said. In three games with the Utes last season, Sewell netted 14 tackles at safety. From 2017-18, he played in 23 games for Nevada - racking up 111 tackles during his time in Reno. - Bryan/College Station Eagle

Texas A&M's first win at Davis Wade Stadium since 2012 started and ended with the defensive line Saturday. The Aggie defensive front recorded six sacks, forced a fumble and brought pressure that resulted in an interception in the 28-14 win. Defensive coordinator Mike Elko dialed up a three-man rush on most plays, leaving eight players to drop into coverage against Mississippi State's passing attack. With junior defensive tackle Bobby Brown out, Jayden Peevy anchored the middle of a three-man front, next to a rotating medley of ends. Defensive end DeMarvin Leal had the biggest impact on the Bulldog passing game, recording a sack, a tackle for loss and three quarterback hurries in the game. - Bryan/College Station Eagle
