Marcel Reed threw for 234 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score as No. 5 Texas A&M continued its perfect start with a 34-17 victory over Florida on Saturday night. It's the first 6-0 start for the Aggies since 2016 and they improved to 3-0 in Southeastern Conference play. Florida (2-4, 1-2) was unable to build off last week's 29-21 upset over then-No. 9 Texas that snapped a three-game skid as coach Billy Napier fell to 0-14 on the road against ranked opponents. Texas A&M scored touchdowns on its first three possessions but managed only a field goal after that until Rueben Owens scored on a 2-yard run that made it 31-17 with about 4 1/2 minutes to go. That score came after Florida couldn't take advantage of a turnover and Texas A&M took more than eight minutes off the clock on the drive. The Aggies led by 7 when Jordan Castell intercepted Reed in the end zone on the first play of the fourth quarter.

DJ Lagway's pass was deflected and fell incomplete on fourth-and-6 near midfield to give Texas A&M the ball back to start the drive that ended in the score by Owens. Dayon Hayes sacked Lagway and forced a fumble that the Aggies recovered on the first play of Florida's next drive and they tacked on a field goal to seal the victory. The Gators looked good early and it was tied at 14 at the end of the first quarter before Texas A&M outscored them 20-3 the rest of the way. Lagway threw for 245 yards with two touchdowns and Vernell Brown III had six receptions for 77 yards as the Gators faced their fourth straight opponent ranked in the top 10 of the AP poll. The Aggies had 183 yards rushing a week after running for a season-high 303 yards despite starter Le'Veon Moss leaving before halftime with an apparent injury. Le'Veon Moss ran for a career-high 139 yards and a touchdown and No. 9 Texas A&M held off Auburn 16-10 on Saturday to improve to 4-0 for the first time since 2016. Texas A&M's offense struggled at times, but the defense was solid all day, holding the Tigers to 176 yards and 0 of 12 on third-down attempts. Texas A&M (4-0, 1-0 Southeastern Conference) was driving in the fourth when Marcel Reed's pass was tipped and intercepted by Xavier Atkins, who returned it 73 yards to the 2. Jackson Arnold scrambled in for the score on the next play to get the Tigers to 13-10 with about 10 1/2 minutes to go. Auburn's defense got a stop after that, but the Tigers couldn't move the ball, with a sack by Cashius Howell forcing a punt less than six minutes left. It looked like the Aggies had a touchdown on their next drive when Reed connected with Mario Craver. But they were flagged for an ineligible player downfield to take the points away. They settled for a field goal that made it 16-10 with less than three minutes to go.

The Tigers got the ball back twice after that, but they punted the first time and Arnold was sacked on fourth down on their next possession and the Aggies ran out the clock to end it. Auburn (3-2, 0-2) entered the game ranked fifth in the nation by allowing just 58.2 yards rushing a game. But the Aggies piled up 145 yards rushing by halftime and finished with 207 yards rushing led by Moss averaging 6.6 yards a carry. The Aggies got a 1-yard TD run from Moss on their first possession to take an early lead. That score was set up by his 38-yard run on the previous play. Randy Bond made field goals of 33 and 49 yards in the second quarter after Auburn got on the board with one from 32 yards. Bond missed one from 50 yards at the end of the second quarter and his 49-yard attempt early in the third quarter was short. Craver is the nation's leading receiver after amassing over 100 yards in a third straight game. He's averaging 147.5 yards per game and 22.2 per catch and has four TDs. He scored the Aggies' first points against Notre Dame when he got past his defender to make a catch at the A&M 30, broke through three would-be tacklers at the 50 and ran down the sideline to complete the 86-yard play. Craver is the first player in program history to have a TD reception of at least 70 yards in two straight games. He had a 72-yarder against Utah State. Texas A&M made a big jump into the top 10 of The Associated Press college football poll Sunday after its dramatic win at Notre Dame, and the Irish became the first team since 1988 to stay in the Top 25 with an 0-2 record. Ohio State, Penn State and LSU remained the top three teams, with Miami moving up to No. 4 and Georgia to No. 5 even after a close call at No. 15 Tennessee. Oregon slipped two spots to No. 6 despite a 20-point road win against Northwestern and was followed by Florida State, Texas, Illinois and the Aggies. Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and Southern California made their season debuts in the Top 25. Ohio State tussled with Ohio into the middle of the third quarter of a 37-9 win and received 55 first-place votes, two fewer than last week. Penn State got five first-place votes, LSU got two, Miami got three and Oregon got one.

The Hurricanes' first-place votes are their first since getting three on Nov. 19, 2017. Alabama was rewarded for its 24-point home win against Wisconsin and moved up five spots to No. 14. Voters didn't punish Tennessee for its overtime home loss to Georgia and kept the Volunteers No. 15. Texas A&M was promoted six spots after it overcame a scary injury to safety Bryce Anderson, a blocked punt returned for a touchdown and 13 penalties to win 41-40 on Marcel Reed's fourth-and-goal pass to Nate Boerkircher with 11 seconds left. The Aggies, who opened with solid wins over UTSA and Utah State, are 3-0 for the first time since 2021 and have their highest ranking since they were No. 10 entering November last season. Notre Dame has lost its first two games, both against ranked opponents, by a total of four points. The Irish lost 27-24 at Miami and had an open date before Texas A&M visited. They fell from No. 8 to No. 24. The 1988 Michigan Wolverines, the previous team to start 0-2 and remain ranked, also had an extremely tough first two games. They entered the season No. 9 and lost to No. 13 Notre Dame 19-17, dropped to No. 15 and lost 31-30 at No. 1 Miami. Michigan was No. 19 the following week and went 9-0-1 the rest of the way. Marcel Reed escaped pressure to throw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Nate Boerkircher with 13 seconds left, Randy Bond kicked the extra point and No. 16 Texas A&M beat No. 8 Notre Dame 41-40 on Saturday night. "I don't think Nate had a target all game, but when his name was called, he was ready," Reed said. Texas A&M (3-0) beat a Top 25 team on the road for the first time since knocking off then-No. 3 Auburn on Nov. 8, 2014. The Aggies had lost 13 straight road games to ranked opponents. "I don't know that anything went to script in terms of how you want to go about winning a game on the road," said Texas A&M coach Mike Elko, a former Notre Dame assistant coach. "We just kept fighting, kept battling, kept scrapping. Ultimately, we made one more play than they did." Notre Dame dropped to 0-2 after playing in the national title game last season.

The Irish opened with a 24-27 loss at No. 5 Miami on Aug. 31. "You've got to go to work and practice and get better," coach Marcus Freeman said. "We're 0-2. So what do you control? You control getting better and getting ready for the next one. I can't sit here and dwell on being 0-2 as much as I need to dwell on how do we find ways to improve." Notre Dame pushed ahead 40-34 with 2:53 to go on Jeremiyah Love's 12-yard run. A botched snap on the extra point kept the lead at six. Texas A&M started at its 26 on the winning drive after a 99-yard kickoff return by Terry Bussey was negated by a holding penalty, but quickly reached Notre Dame territory. Mario Craver, who had an 86-yard TD reception in the first quarter, gained 34 yards on a pass from Reed to the 37. Texas A&M reached the Notre Dame 10 and survived back-to-back penalties before the winning score. Reed was 17 of 37 for a career-high 360 yards and two touchdowns. Texas A&M safety Bryce Anderson was carted off the field and taken to a hospital after sustaining an injury with 58 seconds left in the first half against Notre Dame on Saturday. Anderson gave a thumps-up sign as he was driven off the field and Texas A&M said he had all feeling in all his limbs. Anderson was injured making a tackle on tight end Eli Raridon, with fellow Aggies defensive back Will Lee III making contact with Anderson and Raridon.

Anderson was motionless on the field for about 10 minutes as medical staff attended to him. Texas A&M players and Notre Dame players gathered in prayer at a hushed Notre Dame Stadium. The entire Texas A&M team ran over to Anderson - wearing a neck brace - after he was placed on the cart. Anderson is a 5-foot-10, 186-pound senior from Beaumont, Texas. He was tied for the team lead in tackles with six when he left the game, helping the No. 16 Aggies take a 28-24 halftime lead over the No. 8 Fighting Irish. - AP College Football

Marcel Reed threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score before leaving late in the third quarter with an injury to lead No. 19 Texas A&M to a 44-22 victory over Utah State on Saturday. Reed threw for 220 yards with TD passes of 34, 12 and eight yards before leaving with about four minutes left in the third quarter after taking an awkward fall and getting hit by a defender. He walked off the field after being checked out and spent time in the medical tent before jogging to the locker room. There was no immediate update on his condition. Texas A&M (2-0) led by 1 late in the first quarter before scoring 23 straight points to take a 30-6 lead into halftime. Reed had a 1-yard scoring run and a 12-yard TD pass in that span to help Texas A&M pull away.

Texas A&M's defense dominated in that stretch, led by defensive end Cashius Howell, who sacked Bryson Barnes on three consecutive plays to single-handedly force a punt in the second quarter. It's the first time a player has had sacks on three straight plays since Jack Cichy did it for Wisconsin against Southern California in the 2015 Holiday Bowl, according to research by the Texas A&M communications staff. Barnes had 169 yards passing with two touchdowns for Utah State (1-1) but was sacked six times and hit six more. KC Concepcion had another big game for Texas A&M on Saturday after scoring a touchdown on a punt return and grabbing a TD catch in his debut last week after transferring from North Carolina State. He had six receptions for 73 yards and two touchdowns. His second TD came on an 8-yard catch and extended the lead to 37-14 with about six minutes left in the third quarter. Mario Craver, another transfer in his first year at A&M, had 114 yards receiving and a touchdown after grabbing two touchdown receptions last week. Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed left the game against Utah State in the third quarter Saturday after landing awkwardly at the end of a run. Reed lost his footing and fell during a scramble before being hit by a defender while down. He remained down on the field for a bit and trainers rushed out to tend to him. He got up after a couple of minutes and walked to the sideline. Reed was in the medical tent for a few minutes before coming out and jogging off the field with trainers. Texas A&M's Cashius Howell sacked Utah State quarterback Bryson Barnes on three consecutive plays in the second quarter Saturday. Utah State had the ball on its 25 early in the second quarter when the defensive end muscled past left tackle Jake Eichorn and dropped Barnes for a loss of 6 yards for 19th-ranked Texas A&M. On the next play, Howell got past Eichorn again to take Barnes down for a loss of 7 yards. Bullying past Eichorn one more time, Howell sacked Barnes for a loss of 8 yards to bring up fourth-and-31 and single-handedly force a punt. Howell, a fifth-year senior, entered the game with 15 1/2 career sacks and had just four last season. His career best came in 2023 when he had 9 1/2 for Bowling Green.
