Texas A&M wide receiver and punt returner Ainias Smith is returning for a fifth season, according to Smith's father, Maurice Smith. Ainias Smith later announced his decision on social media Thursday. "I have made many prayers and have had a plethora of thoughts, but after everything, I had to make an important decision that will set up my future," Smith said on the post. "With that being said, I will be returning to school for one more year. Aggie nation, let's run it back."

Smith spent the last several months weighing his options as he worked to rehabilitate a leg fracture suffered during the Aggies' 23-21 win over Arkansas at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Sept. 24. He had until Saturday to decide if he wanted to enter this year's NFL draft. His social media post Thursday included a video of Smith running drills on a what appears to be a healed leg. It concludes with Smith tossing A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher a football and telling him, "Let's run it back." Smith has 127 receptions for 1,612 yards and 17 touchdowns in four years at A&M. After four years in a Boston College football uniform, senior defensive back Josh DeBerry announced on Twitter on Monday that he will enter the transfer portal with one year of eligibility. DeBerry played in 11 games in the 2022 season, extending his streak of appearing in 10-plus games a year to three straight seasons. He served as a leader of BC's defense, earning All-ACC honorable mention honors after the 2022 season, All-ACC Second Team honors in 2021, and All-ACC honorable mention honors in 2020.

With his transfer announcement, DeBerry joins a group of seven other Eagles in the portal, including two other defensive backs, CJ Burton and Jason Maitre, and quarterback Phil Jurkovec. Last season, DeBerry played a crucial role in BC's secondary, recording 39 solo tackles and 50 total tackles. He recovered a fumble against Maine and contributed to BC's first-half push against Clemson with a first-quarter interception that put BC inside the Tigers' 25-yard line. In his career with BC, DeBerry totaled four interceptions, three forced fumbles, and 158 total tackles. - The Heights

Wright, the team's Aggie Heart Award winner this season, nine receptions for 129 yards with a touchdown, battling through injuries. The former defensive lineman, who has played in 40 games, appeared in 13 games as a freshman in 2018, mostly on special teams. He redshirted in '19 after playing in three games and getting injured. Texas A&M's secondary got a big boost over the weekend with Florida State cornerback Sam McCall announcing he's transferring and Aggie strong safety Demani Richardson saying he'll return for another season. Richardson made his announcement via twitter on Sunday. "Just wanted to let ya'll know that I'll be using my covid year and finish out school and get my degree at the best university!" he tweeted. "I can't wait to prove the doubters wrong man." Richardson had 73 tackles this season, 48 of them solos. For his 44-game career he has 245 tackles, 155 of them solos. Texas A&M junior defensive back Antonio Johnson has declared for the 2023 NFL draft and will forgo the rest of his eligibility, he announced in a social media post Tuesday. "To my family, I wouldn't be here without you and your never ending love and support," Johnson said in the post. "Through the pain and sacrifices, I appreciate you more than you will ever know Thank you and I love you. To my coaches and teammates, thank you for pushing me to be better day after day. Everything we have been through together and the lessons I have learned the past 3 years have helped me become the players, teammate, leader, and man that I am today. To the Aggie fans, thank you for welcoming me and my family since day 1. Kyle Field on game days is the best place in college football and that's because of you." In three seasons with the Aggies, Johnson recorded 164 tackles, seven pass breakups and one interception. Texas A&M junior running back Devon Achane will declare for the 2023 NFL draft, he announced in a post on his Instagram account Tuesday. "Thank you for everything, 12th Man," he said in a statement at the end of a highlight video on the post. "I'm grateful for what you all have done for me. It's a blessing to have been a part of this great university. I am declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft." In three seasons in Aggieland, Achane ran for 2,376 yards and 21 touchdowns on 369 carries for a 6.4 yard average. He also caught 65 passes for 554 yards and five touchdowns. "It's going to be a very hard decision," Achane said after the LSU game. "I love the 12th Man and it's just something I have to discuss with Coach [Jimbo] Fisher and my parents."

After serving as a backup to Isaiah Spiller for his first two seasons, Achane was the Aggies' feature back in his final season and became the 14th Aggie to surpass the 1,000-yard mark. His career rushing total ranks 17th on the school's all-time rushing list. Achane had his best game in his final one with the Aggies in a 38-23 win over No. 5 LSU. His 110.2 rushing yards per game were good for third in the SEC, while also ranking 16th nationally. His 12 trips to the end zone this season ranked ninth among SEC scorers and he was the only player in the country to have scored as a rusher, receiver and returner this year. The Missouri City, Texas, native ranked fourth nationally and led the SEC, averaging 161.0 all-purpose yards per game.

His 3,532 career AP yards currently sit in 12th on A&M's all-time list. Achane registered five 100-yard games on the ground this season, going off in the season finale against No. 6 LSU with a career-high 215 rushing yards.
