  Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson combined for 311 rushing yards and six touchdowns and Texas beat Kansas State 69-31 on Saturday afternoon. Coming into the game, Johnson had two touchdowns all season and Robinson hadn't scored in his career. Robinson scored on runs of 12, 30 and 75 yards Saturday. The Longhorns (6-3, 5-3 Big 12) scored seven times on the ground, three apiece by Johnson and Robinson and one from Jor Whittington. It's the most rushing touchdowns allowed in a game in school history by the Wildcats.

Sam Ehlinger was 20 of 27 for 274 yards and two touchdowns. Kansas State's Will Howard went 16 of 27 for 174 yards and a pair of touchdowns and two picks. Howard threw an interception for the ninth time this season and for the fifth straight game. Deuce Vaughn continued his impressive season breaking the school record for rushing yards by a freshman (517). In the finale, he scored twice and gained 125 yards. It's the most points Texas has ever scored against Kansas State and the most points they've scored in a Big 12 game since 1996. The Wildcats hadn't given up more than 69 points in 13 years. Texas scored 66 points in the first three quarters before calling off the dogs and sitting most of their starters the final 15 minutes. - Texas/AP College Football

  Billingsley made himself known to a lesser degree during Forristall's absence last year, primarily on a 19-yard reception against Mississippi State. He's done much more this year, catching three passes for 78 yards against Mississippi State and two more for 33 yards and a touchdown against Auburn. His touchdown reception against Auburn demonstrated the utility UA sees in Billingsley. The play was entirely designed to get him open, drawing the safety from the right side across the formation with a crossing route just to run Billingsley into that space, trusting him to get the correct leverage on his defender.

"Jahleel is extremely skilled," UA wide receiver John Metchie III said. "Somebody, especially being so close to Jahleel, somebody I'm personally excited about for him to get on the scene and be able to showcase what he can do more because there's a lot more that he can do that has not yet been seen." Billingsley had more receptions in the last two games than he had in the previous 14 games of his career. "Jahleel is kind of coming into his own a little bit as a tight end," Saban said. "He's a very good receiver. I think having some success in the last couple games has probably helped his confidence a little bit. And he's definitely somebody who we feel can make plays for us on offense, and we need to try to utilize him every way that we can." - Montgomery Advertiser

  Ossai has emerged as Texas' best player this season. He began his career out of position as a linebacker in a 3-3-5 system under former defensive coordinator Todd Orlando. And while the new scheme hasn't fit the tools of Sterns, it has unleashed Ossai. He's back at defensive end, which allows him to get after the passer and set the edge against the run. Ossai's motor is unmatched. He's tied with Sterns for second on the team with 52 tackles. He leads the team with 14 tackles for loss and four sacks. He played in 14 games as a freshman. He finished that year with 20 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. He became a force as a sophomore, leading Texas in tackles after starting all 13 games. He gave fans a glimpse of his potential back at defensive end in the Alamo Bowl win over Utah to close out the 2019 season by recording six tackles for loss and three sacks. - Austin American Statesman

  For the second times in as many days, the Texas football team has lost a longtime starter and team captain. Junior safety Caden Sterns will opt out of the rest of UT's season, a source confirmed to the American-Statesman on Monday. In September, Sterns told reporters that he decided to participate in this coronavirus-shortened season because he had "things to prove." Sterns also stated his desire to win a Big 12 title, but Texas has been essentially eliminated from championship contention even though two games remain on the schedule.

On Sunday, UT offensive lineman Samuel Cosmi announced that he was turning his attention to preparing for the NFL Draft. Most pundits have pegged Cosmi as either a first- or second-round pick. The 6-1, 207-pound Sterns, however, has seen his draft stock drop this year. Sterns remains one of the highest-rated recruits ever signed by Tom Herman's staff at Texas. A five-star talent in the 2018 recruiting cycle, Sterns made an immediate splash upon his arrival in Austin. His freshman year included four interceptions, all-conference honors and semifinalist status for the Jim Thorpe Award. Sterns, though, missed five games due to injuries over his sophomore and junior seasons. Fifty-two tackles and a win-sealing interception against Texas Tech are among the highlights of Sterns' 2020 campaign. - Austin American Statesman

  Cosmi is regarded as a first-or second-round pick in the upcoming draft. With Texas essentially eliminated from contention for a conference championship, he turned his attention to preparing for the NFL. LSU receiver Terrace Marshall and Minnesota wideout Rashod Bateman made the same decisions. Noting Cosmi's contributions over the past four years and the degree he will receive next month, Herman defended the lineman's decision on Monday. Herman also said he didn't believe that any of Cosmi's teammates would follow the junior's lead.

"I don't think that sets any kind of example to anybody on our football team because everybody's situation is unique," Herman said. "I want to reiterate the appreciation and gratitude that we have for Sam and his family...We are very, very proud to have had Sam. He's going to be a college graduate, he's going to have his degree from the University of Texas, and the plan is for him to go make us very, very proud in the National Football League." - Austin American Statesman

  Texas has ended widespread speculation about coach Tom Herman’s future, announcing Saturday he will return in 2021 for his fifth season with the No. 23 Longhorns. "My policy is to wait until the end of the season before evaluating and commenting on our program and coaches. With the close of the regular season, I want to reiterate that Tom Herman is our coach," athletic director Chris Del Conte said in a statement released by the school. While Herman has never had a losing season with the Longhorns, they have made only one appearance in the Big 12 title game during his tenure and now have gone 11 seasons since their last conference championship in 2009. - AP College Football

  There've been a few talented tight ends to come through this Alabama program in the Nick Saban era. Some have been more involved in the passing game than others with first-round pick O.J. Howard representing the high-water mark to this point. Well, Najee Harris offered high praise for the next up-and-coming player at that position. Sophomore Jahleel Billingsley had a career-high three catches for 78 yards in his first start Saturday in the 63-3 win over Kentucky. "I feel like Jahleel could be one of the top players to come through here," Harris said after the game. "What he provides and what he brings to the game with his athleticism and his height and his ability to block, once he gets everything under control, he's going to be something crazy to deal with," Harris said, "especially at the next level."

Harris, known for his aerial work, certainly appreciated Billingsley work on the first offensive play of Alabama's night. Mac Jones hit the tight end for a 34-yard play punctuated by the kind of hurdle that became Harris' trademark. Billingsley got the start with senior Miller Forristall slowed by a sprained ankle and injured shoulder. Saban said he could have played but they didn't want to force it so Billingsley got the call. Listed at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, he's a little smaller than the block-heavy Forristall (6-5, 244 pounds). Saban is impressed with Billingsley's athleticism as a receiver. "The big thing is consistency in performance with him," Saban said. "Every day he's got to go out there and do things you know a certain way that we can trust them and depend on." - Birmingham News

  For the first time since the 2017 season with the Lake Travis Cavaliers, Texas Longhorns junior kicker Cameron Dicker will also handle punting duties against the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence on Saturday and for the remainder of the season. Dicker will serve in all three kicking phases of special teams after junior punter Ryan Bujcevski suffered a season-ending knee injury against West Virginia. Bujcevski tore his ACL in a non-contact situation when he planted awkwardly while trying to cover what ended up as his final punt of 2020.

Texas was able to get out of the West Virginia game without needing Dicker to attempt the first punt of his collegiate career, affording him the bye week to get more comfortable with replacing Bujcevski. On Monday, Texas head coach Tom Herman said that Dicker has exceeded expectations through the bye week during practice, pointing to Dicker's ability to get punts off quickly and with excellent hang time. At Lake Travis, Dicker averaged 38.9 yard per punt as a senior on 33 attempts, with seven of those punts landing inside the 20-yard line. - Burnt Orange Nation

  Texas stopped West Virginia on fourth-down passes into the end zone twice in the fourth quarter, enabling the No. 22 Longhorns to escape with a 17-13 victory on Saturday. Texas (5-2, 4-2 Big 12) overcame an offense that produced nearly 100 yards and 27 points fewer than its average. Sam Ehlinger, typically the Longhorns' offensive star, completed just 15 of 31 passes for 184 yards, but he connected with Brennan Eagles for a 7-yard touchdown in the first quarter and with Jake Smith for a 33-yard TD in the third. Freshman Bijan Robinson rushed for 113 yards on 12 carries for Texas. Jarret Doege completed 35 of 50 for 317 yards for West Virginia (4-3, 3-3) but failed to throw a touchdown. Texas had a sizeable edge in first-half yardage - 210-137 - but left the field with only a 10-7 lead. On one second-quarter possession, Ehlinger underthrew Eagles, who was open for a possible touchdown. Right before the end of the half, Cameron Dicker was wide left on a 48-yard field-goal attempt.   In its 41-34 overtime win at Oklahoma State on Saturday, Texas received two field goals from junior kicker Cameron Dicker. Those field goals, though, weren't uncontested. First off, the Cowboys had 11 players on the field who were attempting to block those kicks. Oklahoma State also had a video board operator who attempted to ice the kicker. On a 40-yard attempt at the end of the first half, Oklahoma State put up a series of yellow lines on a large video board behind the goalpost. As football fans know, the goalposts are also yellow. It appeared that the video board just showed fans cheering when Dicker attempted a 20-yard kick at the beginning of the second quarter. After his two makes on Saturday, DIcker has made 14 of this season's 18 tries. At a press conference on Tuesday, UT coach Tom Herman was asked about Oklahoma State's video board strategy. Herman said he has been in contact with the Big 12 administrators. "I addressed it with Commissioner (Bob) Bowlsby and Ed Stewart, the associate commissioner for football, and they assured me that is not permissible by Big 12 standards.   Ossai was named the Big 12 defensive player of the week for the first time in his career on Monday. This comes after he was named the Walter Camp national defensive player of the week on Sunday. Ossai had 12 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in UT's 41-34 overtime victory over then-No. 6 Oklahoma State. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger told reporters Monday about a phone conversation he had with Ossai after the Oklahoma game in October. Ossai was upset that he didn't make game-changing plays against the Sooners. Ossai closed the Oklahoma State victory with a fourth-down sack of Spencer Sanders. "You can say what you want about our team, but our guys, they don't stop fighting," Ossai said. - Austin American Statesman

He was the first autonomy conference player to record at least 12 tackles, six tackles for loss and three sacks in a game since 2006 and it marked only the sixth time any FBS player has hit all three of those totals in the same game since 2000.
