  NOV 11 OVC CO-SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK: Haidar Zaidan, K, 5-11, 204, Sr., Dearborn, Mich., Tennessee Tech,...Zaidan was 3-for-3 on field goal attempts, including a career-long 54-yards, and finished with 13 points as Tennessee Tech topped Jacksonville State 37-27, its first win over the Gamecocks since 2011. The senior drilled the career-long 54-yarder on the team's first possession to open the scoring. It marks the sixth-longest field goal in the FCS this season. He added field goals of 28 and 21 yards in the fourth quarter and was 4-for-4 on PATs in the win. Zaidan also kicked off eight times for an average of 58.8 yards.   2019 JERRY RICE AWARD WATCH LIST: Metrius Fleming, WR/RS, Tennessee Tech: 38 receptions, 542 yards, 2 TDs; 14 carries, 90 yards, 2 TDs; 27.7 KO return average, 1 TD; 116.3 all-purpose yards per game (9 games),...Freshman wide receiver/return specialist Metrius Fleming has certainly made a name for himself on the football field this season. Now he's standing up with some of the top freshman players in the country as STATS FCS announced its initial watch list for the 2019 Jerry Rice Award, honoring the top freshman in the Football Championship Subdivision.

It's the second year in a row that Tennessee Tech has had a player in the running as sophomore quarterback Bailey Fisher was a semifinalist for the award last season. Three of the first four recipients of the award – Towson running back Terrance West, Eastern Washington wide receiver Cooper Kupp and Fordham running back Chase Edmonds – have gone on to NFL careers. This season, Fleming has 38 catches for 542 yards and two touchdowns, 14 carries for 90 yards and two touchdowns, a 27.7-yard kickoff return average with a 91-yard kickoff return touchdown and averages 116.3 all-purpose yards per game. - STATS FCS/Tennessee Tech Football

  OCT 7 OVC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: Metrius Fleming, WR/RS, 6-0, 173, Fr., Elberton Ga., Tennessee Tech,...Fleming accounted for a season-best 246 all-purpose yards (the second-most by an OVC player this season) in Tennessee Tech's 43-37 double overtime loss at No. 23 Southeast Missouri. The freshman caught a season-high nine passes for 108 yards, rushed twice for 16 yards (including a 12-yard touchdown in the first quarter) and returned five kickoffs to 122 yards (24.4 yards/return).

Fleming had a 31-yard kickoff return with 1:36 to play in the fourth quarter as the Golden Eagles moved an additional 30 yards to tie the game with a 51-yard field goal with 31 seconds to play. Fleming ranks second nationally in kickoff returns (35.8 yards/return), 19th in all-purpose yards (140.0/game - a mark that is second among FCS freshmen), 25th in combined kickoff yards (322) and 36th in receiving yards (427). It marked the first non-conference road win for the program since 2013 and gives the team its first 3-1 start since the 2011 season. It marked the 13th-most receiving yards in a game in Golden Eagle history. Fleming also had a kickoff return for 18 yards to finish the contest with 183 all-purpose yards. The freshman currently ranks 35th nationally in all-purpose yards (132.0/game) and is averaging 50.0 yards on kickoff returns (4 total). His first interception of the game came in the second quarter and led to a Golden Eagle field goal as the team extended its lead to 24-3. Carlisle also added three tackles in the win. He is one of four players in the OVC with multiple interceptions in the same game. It marked the first non-conference road win for the program since 2013 and gives the team its first 3-1 start since the 2011 season. With his team trailing 7-0 late in the first quarter, Fleming took the kickoff 91 yards to even the score; that marks one of 11 kickoff return touchdowns in the FCS so far this season. Fleming also had three catches for 65 yards and three rushes for five yards. He is averaging 60.7 yards on three kickoff returns this season and ranks 23rd nationally in combined kick return yards (182). Fleming has made big plays this season, as he also has a 66-yard rushing touchdown (coming in week one versus Samford).   SEPT 2/WEEK 1 OVC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: Metrius Fleming, WR, 6-0, 173, Fr., Elberton, Ga., Tennessee Tech,...Fleming had 108 all-purpose yards, including a 66-yard rushing touchdown on the third play of the game, in Tennessee Tech's 59-58 double overtime win against Samford. The freshman finished the game with 60 rushing yards, caught a pass for seven yards and returned an important kickoff 41 yards. That kickoff game in the fourth quarter against Samford had kicked a field goal to go ahead 44-28 with 2:20 to play. Fleming took the ensuing kickoff 41 yards to the TTU 44-yard line, setting up a Golden Eagle touchdown six plays later.   Jeremiah Oatsvall threw for three touchdowns and three interceptions, DeAngelo Williams had three touchdown catches and Austin Peay won its season opener for the first time since 2010 by scoring 24 second-quarter points to wallop North Carolina Central, 41-10 Thursday night. Mark Hudspeth won his debut as the Governor's head coach, the first to accomplish the feat since Rick Christophel in 2007. Oatsvall threw for 232 yards and passed Dale Edwards for seventh all-time. His 29 rushing yards leave him a yard shy of becoming the third Austin Peay quarterback with 1,000 career rushing yards.

Williams pulled in a 25-yard pass from Oatsvall in the first quarter and a 29-yard strike in the second. He also pulled down a 40-yard scoring pass from wide receiver Baniko Harley. Kentel Willams had 12 carries for 139 yards and the Governors finished with 291 yards on the ground while limiting the Eagles to just 53 yard rushing and 139 passing. Adrian Olivo kicked a 24-yard field goal to put NC Central up, 3-0 in the first quarter and Nique Martin pulled in a 35-yard scoring pass from Chauncey Caldwell with 4:29 left to cap the scoring. - AP College Football
