  Offensive lineman Cade Mays is leaving Georgia and returning to his hometown to continue his college football career at Tennessee, where he will have an opportunity to play alongside his younger brother. Tennessee announced Thursday that it had added Mays, who has spent the last two seasons at Georgia. Tennessee sent out a tweet with the Knoxville Catholic graduate's picture along with the message, "Welcome #HomeSweetHome, Cade!" "As a guy with multiple years of starting experience on the offensive line in the SEC, Cade is a tremendous addition to our program," Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt said in a statement. "He's tough and he's powerful, and he is a versatile player who can line up anywhere on the offensive line. He will have an impact on the field, and he will also have a positive effect on our team and in the offensive line room with his leadership ability."

Mays' attorney said the offensive lineman will have a strong case to be granted immediate eligibility in 2020. Tom Mars, whose sports law practice has offices in Atlanta and Rogers, Arkansas, accused Georgia of leaking news that Mays' parents, Kevin and Melinda Mays, filed a lawsuit against the University of Georgia in December. The lawsuit was filed in the State Court of Clarke County about two years after an incident in which Kevin Mays lost part of his little finger after it was caught in a folding chair at a dinner for recruits at Sanford Stadium. Kevin Mays was a team captain at Tennessee and an All-Southeastern Conference guard in 1994. - AP College Football

The senior safety is second on the team with 68 tackles and also leads the Vols with seven pass breakups. Warrior, who was a Preseason All-SEC third-team selection by the coaches, was also named first team All-SEC by the Associated Press earlier this week.   2019 ALL-SEC SECOND TEAM (COACHES): LB Daniel Bituli, Tennessee,...The quarterback of Tennessee's defense from his middle linebacker position, Bituli led the Big Orange in tackles for the third consecutive season with 82, making him just the second player in program history to lead the team in tackles for three years in a row. The senior was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week twice and was a PFF College National Team of the Week selection two times, as well.

Bituli had three games with double-digit tackles, including an incredible 19-tackle effort in a road win at Kentucky on Nov. 9, which was the most tackles by an SEC player in a conference game this season. His 8.2 tackles per game ranks fourth in the conference. The Nashville native had 4.5 tackles for loss and set a career high with three sacks. He also blocked a punt and recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown in UT's win over South Carolina on Oct. 26. This is the first time Bituli has earned SEC postseason honors in his career. - Tennessee Football

  2019 ALL-SEC FIRST TEAM (COACHES): OL Trey Smith, Tennessee,...A two-time SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week, Smith started the last 11 games at left guard and is Tennessee's highest-graded player on the offensive line with 46 knockdowns. The Jackson, Tenn., native made way for one of the best passing performances in recent history as Jarrett Guarantano recorded 415 passing yards against Missouri's sixth-ranked pass defense on Nov. 23 to help the Vols gain bowl eligibility. Smith is also a Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year semifinalist and an Orange Bowl Courage Award nominee. The junior was a first-team All-SEC selection by the Associated Press earlier this week, as well. This marks the second season that Smith has earned All-SEC recognition after garnering All-Freshman team and second team honors in 2017. - Tennessee Football

  2019 ALL-SEC SECOND TEAM (COACHES): RS Marquez Callaway, Tennessee,...A dynamic playmaker at receiver and in the return game, Callaway earned All-SEC honors for the first time in his career. The Georgia native earned a spot on the second team as a return specialist after ranking fifth in the league with 150 punt return yards and averaging 15.0 yards per return. Callaway had a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown in the Vols' win over South Carolina, the third of his career, and currently ranks fifth among active players in the FBS in career punt return average (13.8 avg). The senior wideout also had his best season offensively, setting career highs with 616 receiving yards, six touchdown catches and four 100-yard receiving games.   The Southeastern Conference has suspended Tennessee wide receiver Jauan Jennings for the first half of the Volunteers' bowl game for what the league said was a flagrant personal foul late in a 28-10 victory over Vanderbilt. Commissioner Greg Sankey announced the suspension Wednesday. Vanderbilt punt returner Justice Shelton-Mosley was heading out of bounds with just over three minutes left when Jennings hit him. Shelton-Mosley's helmet appeared to come off as he slid toward Tennessee's bench. Video showed that as Jennings was getting up after the play, his right cleat hit Shelton-Mosley's head. No penalty was called on the play, but SEC officials say ta video review by the league office showed Jennings had committed a flagrant personal foul. NCAA rules allow a conference to impose sanctions prior to the next scheduled game if a review by the league shows a flagrant personal foul that game officials didn't call. - AP College Football

Missouri entered the game allowing only 297.6 total yards (10th in the nation) and had the SEC's best pass defense, allowing only 165.9 yards through the air per game (sixth in the nation)...Smith enabled QB Jarrett Guarantano to become only the third Vol QB to pass for 415 yards as UT had three 100-yard receivers for the first time in school history. - SEC Football

  Hendon Hooker threw for 153 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 25 Virginia Tech to a 28-0 victory over Pittsburgh on Saturday. Hooker threw touchdown passes to Tre Turner and Damon Hazelton, and Virginia Tech's defense scored on a fumble return, as the Hokies (8-3, 5-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) notched their sixth win in their past seven games. "I can't say enough good things about our guys," Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente said. "I felt that way about them early in the year, too, though. I really did. I'm enjoying every moment with them. I think they're a special group of young men. They've been through special circumstances and stuck together."

The Virginia Tech win sets up a showdown next weekend with rival Virginia, with the victor claiming the ACC's Coastal Division and an ACC championship game berth on Dec. 7. Pittsburgh (7-4, 4-3) finished with a season-low 177 yards. Kenny Pickett completed 10 of 26 for 103 yards to lead the Panthers. "Disappointing performance, obviously, today," Pittsburgh head coach Pat Narduzzi said. "A lot of things I saw -- too many penalties, 0 for 3 on fourth downs ... We don't make any plays. Just a disappointing performance. "I give Virginia Tech a lot of props for what they did out there today. Bud Foster's (Virginia Tech defensive coordinator) defense came to play, I can guarantee you that...It's hard to win when you can't get in the end zone.   Hendon Hooker accounted for 311 yards of total offense and ran for a touchdown to help Virginia Tech beat Wake Forest. The Hokies (6-3, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) overcame a 0-6 halftime deficit, scoring 30 second-half points to beat a ranked team for the first time since last year at then-No. 22 Duke. Deshawn McClease scored touchdowns on back-to-back possessions in the third quarter. His 6-yard touchdown run with 7:02 remaining in the quarter gave the Hokies a 20-17 lead. He had 59 of the Hokies' 228 yards rushing. Hooker completed 15 of 23 for 242 yards and rushed for 69 yards. Jamie Newman completed 16 of 35 passes for 238 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for Wake Forest (7-2, 3-2).   Tennessee's Bryce Thompson says he's finally back in his preferred playing shape after a suspension caused him to miss the first three games of the season. UAB needs no convincing. Thompson tied a Tennessee single-game record by intercepting three passes as the Volunteers capitalized on UAB mistakes to trounce the Blazers 30-7 on Saturday night. "(Missing) those three games kind of hurt me fatigue-wise," Thompson said. "I was kind of tired, but I knew I had to get myself together and get back in shape. I was able to practice again, so I was just running around, getting back in football shape and getting my football legs under me."

Tennessee (4-5) has won three of its last four games to bounce back from a 1-4 start. The Volunteers snapped UAB's three-game win streak and became the first team to exceed the 20-point mark against the Blazers (6-2) all season. UAB quarterback Tyler Johnston III committed four turnovers on his team's side of the field in the Blazers' first seven series. Tennessee scored 20 points off those four takeaways to grab a 23-0 halftime advantage. "When they make mistakes, you've got to make them pay," Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt said.
