  Roland Dempster carried the ball 40 times, amassing 181 yards and scoring two touchdowns, and Stony Brook won for the third time in the last four games with a 27-19 victory over Towson on Saturday. The Seawolves led 27-3 before the Tigers got back in it in the fourth quarter. The Tigers used a nine-play, 75-yard scoring drive that ended with Nathan Kent's 16-yard touchdown pass to John Dunmore. The two-point conversion reduced Towson's deficit to 27-11.

After forcing Stony Brook (4-4, 2-2 Coastal Athletic Association) to three-and-out, the Tigers went on another nine-play drive - this one lasting 67 yards - that ended with Kent throwing a 29-yard score to Jaceon Doss. Another two-point conversion made it a one-score game, 27-19. Stony Brook then sealed it by picking up three first downs on the final drive and time expired. Dempster had touchdown runs of 1 and 2 yards in the first half, and Quinn Boyd threw a 2-yard scoring pass to Dez Williams with 5:55 left in the third quarter to give the Seawolves a 24-0 lead. Kent threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns and Dunmore had 119 yards receiving on seven receptions with a touchdown. Stony Brook outgained Towson (3-5, 1-3) 391-263. - AP College Football

The freshman booted a 46-yard field goal just before halftime to put SBU ahead by four and added a 34-yarder in the fourth quarter.   Roland Dempster ran for three touchdowns in Stony Brook's 35-10 win over Merrimack on Saturday, Dempster's touchdowns all came on short yardage, from 2-, 5- and 1-yard out. He had 114 yards on 22 carries. Quarterback Chris Zellous was the Seawovles' (2-3) leading rusher, with 117 yards. He threw for 167 yards and one touchdown. Merrimack quarterback Ayden Pereira was 6-for-22 passing, with one touchdown. He was sacked three times. He led the team in rushing with 66 yards. Keshawn Brown had the only touchdown for Merrimack, a 19-yard reception in the second quarter. Merrimack (2-3) is in its second year as a Division I program and is competing as an independent. - AP College Football

The grad student completed 21-of-28 passes (75%) for a career-high 260 yards and 3 TD's and added 53 yards and a TD on the ground.   Chris Zellous accounted for four scores and MarQeese Dietz tallied 120 yards and a touchdown as Stony Brook breezed past Fordham 41-18 on Saturday. Michael Mannino drilled a kick from 49 yards out in the second quarter, setting a program record for the longest field goal. Stony Brook also blocked a field goal on fourth and goal in the second quarter to hold the Rams scoreless in the first half. Zellous went 21 of 28 for 260 yards with three touchdowns and an interception, leading Stony Brook to 441 total yards of offense. He added 48 yards on the ground and a rushing score.

Gunnar Smith threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Troy Worrell to pull Fordham within three of the Seawolves in the third. Zellous fired back with a 93-yard touchdown pass to Dietz on the next drive to go up 20-10 - the second-longest passing play in school history. Jayce Freeman caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Zellous on the next drive, and the Seawolves extended their lead to 26-10. Smith finished the game 16 of 33 with 163 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. The Seawolves' defense recorded four sacks and 10 tackles for loss as well. - AP College Football

  2022 ALL-CAA FOOTBALL THIRD TEAM: Carthell Flowers-Lloyd, Stony Brook, LB, Gr.,...The Syracuse, N.Y. native totaled 70 tackles (40 solo, 30 assists), 14 TFLs, two sacks, one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Both his interception and fumble recovery were returned for touchdowns. Flowers-Lloyd ranked second on the team in total tackles, second in solo tackles, first in TFLs, tied for third in sacks, and was one of three players to record one interception this season. The graduate finished the regular season tied for third in the CAA in tackles for loss, tied for 19th in total tackles, and was 15th in the league in solo tackles. He began the season with a bang as he recorded six tackles, two TFLs, and one sack, which forced a fumble that he scooped up and ran into the end zone for a touchdown in Week 1.   Freshman Charlie McKee threw three touchdown passes in the second half, including a 7-yarder to Khalil Newton with 5:48 left to play, and Stony Brook picked up its first win of the season with a 28-27 victory over Maine on Saturday. McKee completed 18 of 21 passes - to nine different receivers - for 249 yards in his third career start. Stony Brook (1-6, 1-4 Colonial Athletic Association) took a 7-0 lead on its opening possession of the game when Ross Tallarico scored on a 2-yard run. Maine (2-5, 2-2) scored the next 20 points to lead by 13 at halftime. Joe Fagnano hooked up with Kobay White for a 13-yard touchdown, found Shawn Bowman for a 42-yard score and Cole Baker kicked two field goals in the Black Bears' spurt.

McKee sandwiched a 10-yard touchdown pass to RJ Lamarr and a 1-yard scoring toss to Tyler Devera around a 12-yard touchdown run by Maine's Elijah Barnwell to get the Seawolves within 27-21 after three quarters. McKee's go-ahead toss to Newton was the only score of the fourth quarter. McKee completed all six of his pass attempts on the drive, accounting for all but one of the 68 yards. Jayden Cook rushed for 92 yards on 26 carries for Stony Brook. Fagnano completed 28 of 45 passes for 314 yards and two scores for the Black Bears. He also ran 10 times for a team-high 65 yards. The Seawolves ran for 200 yards or more in three games in 2021 and racked up a season-high 321 rushing yards in the 36-14 win over UAlbany to reclaim the Golden Apple in the season finale.   2021 ALL-CAA FOOTBALL SECOND TEAM (COACHES): Tyler King, Stony Brook, LB, Fr.,...King recorded 95 tackles (50 solo, 45 assists), 12.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one interception, and one forced fumble in 11 games. At the conclusion of the regular season, King led all CAA rookies in total tackles and ranked fourth overall. His 50 solo tackles were the most in the conference this season.

The Wexford, Pa. native registered seven tackles or more in nine games this season and racked up 10 tackles or more in four games. He tallied a career-high 12 tackles in a game on two occasions. He first made 12 stops at Oregon on September 18. Later in the season, he totaled 12 tackles in a win over Delaware on October 16. He is one of 23 finalists for the 2021 Stats Perform FCS Jerry Rice Award, which is presented to the national FCS freshman player of the year. King took home the CAA Rookie of the Week award twice this season.
