Potential impact of wide receiver transfer Jordan Addison: Did USC need Addison? No. Did it want Addison? You bet. USC's wide receiver unit was pretty well stocked after an early transfer run that yielded it Mario Williams, Brenden Rice and Terrell Bynum to add with returning starters Gary Bryant Jr. and Tahj Washington. But the unit lacked a proven No. 1 wideout and could've used more veteran leadership. Addison, a projected first-round pick, fills those areas in droves as the nation's best wide receiver last season not named Drake London.

Addison will draw the majority of the attention from defenses, which will open up the rest of the pass catchers to make plays. He's not the biggest receiver, but the All-American has verified 4.4 speed, can beat defenses deep and might have the best hands on the team. He is also a versatile chess piece for Riley's offense, capable of playing outside, in the slot or being motioned around the formation. Addison is a plug-and-play starter who could end the season as the best wide receiver in the nation. - 247 Sports

USC and UCLA, two of the Pac-12's flagship programs, are planning to leave the conference for the Big Ten as early as 2024, sources confirmed to ESPN on Thursday. The Mercury News first reported the news. There is still a formal notification process, as the two schools have to let the Pac-12 know their intentions to leave. USC and UCLA also have to formally apply to the Big Ten. According to a source, that process is underway. Multiple sources told ESPN on Thursday that the move is expected to happen. A source called the next steps "formalities" and an announcement could come within the next 24 hours.

A source said that the exploration of the finances and what it would take to make the move have been going on for weeks. While finances played a big role in the move, competitiveness, brand and the overall landscape of the future of the sport played a bigger role. "USC and UCLA have to make the decisions to position them best for the long term," said a source familiar with the move. "The future is so uncertain we need to be operating from a position of strength." - ESPN.com

USC transfer wide receiver Jordan Addison, 2021 Biletnikoff winner, will wear the Heisman winner and legendary QB Carson Palmer's retired No. 3 jersey for the 2022 season. Addison wore No. 3 at Pittsburgh. The five-star transfer posted the No. 3 jersey on his social media on Saturday evening, and it was confirmed by USC team reporter Keely Eure. The No. 3 is one of six officially retired numbers by the Trojan program: Palmer's No. 3, Matt Leinart's No. 11, Charles White's No. 12, Mike Garrett's No. 20, O.J. Simpson's No. 32 and Marcus Allen's No. 33. Reggie Bush's No. 5 is not officially retired, but it has not been worn since Bush. USC also has special numbers reserved for standout players that are not retired: No. 55, No. 35, No. 1, No. 42 and No. 43. - USCFootball.com

Players on both side of the ball are impressed by linebacker Shane Lee. That was obvious after a spring in which Lee held down the MIKE linebacker spot and made an immediate impact on defense and offense. Lee comes from a world apart in Tuscaloosa both in terms of the football program and the location, but he acclimated to both Lincoln Riley's first team and Los Angeles very well over the course of the spring. Like USC defensive end Solomon Tuliaupupu, injuries derailed Lee's ascent at Alabama. Unlike Tuliaupupu, that injury happened after an auspicious debut.

It seems obvious Lee is going to help USC's run defense level up after watching him in the spring game and it's also clear that Lee will continue to model best practices for his less experienced teammates which may end up in the long run being his greatest contribution. In terms of football nuts and bolts, the question mark as we've discussed is his ability to hang in on pass coverage. If he can check that box than he'll only increase the lead he has right now on his starting spot and more importantly, he'll be doing plenty to help a defense that needs to get better at literally everything in 2022. - USCFootball.com

Rush defensive end Solomon Tuliaupupu took the first steps towards stepping into his new position on the defensive line and by all accounts they were positive ones at that. Tuliaupupu was a four-star commit out of the ‘18 recruiting class who finished as the No. 86 overall player after his Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei career came to a close. Tuliaupupu, whose college career began sidelined with a foot injury and has since been derailed pretty much every season after that by more foot and knee injuries, is back to play for defensive line coach Shaun Nua in the Year One of the Lincoln Riley Era. Nua had positive things to say about Tuliaupupu's transition and outlook during the spring. "There's no one that has true USC blood more than Solomon. He loves this place and he's been through a lot. But you see the skill set and he's exactly where he belongs now. And he's shown me some very, very good stuff," Nua told USCFootball.com. - USCFootball.com

Offensive lineman Andrew Vorhees is not just USC's most productive returning offensive lineman - he is one of the most experienced linemen in the entire nation. Returning to Los Angeles for a sixth year, he has played in 44 games through his first five seasons with the Trojans. While his age will turn some franchises off - and limit his potential as a 1-3 round prospect - Vorhees' experience is appealing if a team wants an immediate plug-and-play option with perhaps slightly less upside. His versatility is a plus, as well, as he has appeared in games at left tackle, right guard and left guard. - 247Sports.com

USC's newest superstar transfer Jordan Addison is ready to get his tenure in Los Angeles underway, revealing that his move from Pitt to USC was a "gut move" in his first time speaking publicly since transferring into the program. "I was looking for a great coach and a good football opportunity," said Addison, who is already on USC's campus. "I'm still figuring myself out and what I want to do and I feel like I have a great opportunity to do that where I'm at now." - On3.com

On Wednesday, former Utah linebacker Carson Tabaracci announced he will join one of the Utes' primary Pac-12 rivals, the USC Trojans. When the true freshman and Utah native announced in late April that he would be leaving the Utah Utes and entering the transfer portal, it was seen as a significant loss, as he had already started to make his presence felt in spring ball. Tabaracci, who graduated from Park City High, made the announcement on social media. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, Tabaracci was excellent on both sides of the ball in high school, but was starting to settle in at linebacker alongside fellow true freshmen Lander Barton and Justin Medlock before he announced his intention to transfer. - Deseret News

Jordan Addison's transfer to the USC football program sent shockwaves through the world of college football. It sparked debates, clearly unwell radio hosts wanting to "beat the snot out of" Lincoln Riley, and excitement around the USC fanbase. Nobody was more excited about USC landing Jordan Addison, however, than ESPN. ESPN recently had USC as their No. 12 team in their Way-Too-Early Top 25 Poll. After Addison headed over, however, they shot them up all the way to No. 4. That means that SC is a playoff team, and would play Alabama in the first round of the College Football Playoff. Lincoln Riley would have his shot at revenge.

This is a controversial ranking, but ESPN explained why they see it this way. Mark Schlabach, who wrote it, made it clear that he's been more than impressed with the transfer overhaul that Riley has been doing ALL offseason: "Even before Addison's arrival, Riley had vastly upgraded the wide receiver corps by bringing in Mario Williams, Rice and Bynum. Haskins, who started 20 games at Virginia, might get plugged in at left tackle. USC's defense seems to need more work, although former Alabama linebacker Lee and ex-Colorado cornerback Blackmon should help." - ReignofTroy.com

Wide receiver Jordan Addison, is on his way to USC, where he'll follow in the footsteps of Drake London as the undisputed top target in the Trojans passing attack. The implications of Addison's decision are certainly wide reaching. There's no denying that. But what exactly does it mean for USC? For Addison? For the future of college football as we know it? Let's start with the obvious: London was a 6-foot-4, 220-pound, imposing jump-ball machine with the physicality of an NBA small forward and a ridiculous catch radius to boot. Addison is four inches shorter, nearly 50 pounds lighter and a near-unstoppable deep threat who might dust London in a foot race. By virtue of those different skillsets, their roles are bound to look quite different in USC's offense. Where London spent most of his time lined up outside for USC last season, Addison did the vast majority of his damage for Pitt - 68% of snaps - from the slot. - Los Angeles Times

Rampant speculation ended Thursday when former Pitt All-American receiver Jordan Addison exited the transfer portal and chose Southern California. The Biletnikoff Award winner announced his decision Thursday on social media. "The last few weeks have been very difficult," Addison wrote. "I struggled with my decision as to whether I should exercise my right to enter the portal. Student athletes have not always had that opportunity, and I made that choice...I have now carefully considered the advice of my family and close friends and fully weighed both the risks and benefits associated with my decision. I also respect others that may make a difficult choice. But for me, I will continue my full development as a student athlete by enrolling at USC. Much love always, JA."

Addison entered the transfer portal before the May 1 deadline. He visited Texas and USC and strongly considered Alabama before choosing the Trojans. Addison reportedly has a close relationship with new USC quarterback Caleb Williams, a fellow Washington D.C.-area native who transferred from Oklahoma earlier in the offseason. Addison caught 100 passes for 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns in the 2021 season, his second with the Panthers. With Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett off to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Addison's decision to find a new home was among those that called attention to the current state of the transfer process and what role name, image and licensing considerations have in players' decisions to transfer. - AP College Football

Prior to his decision to join the Trojans, reports said Addison was considering transferring to USC for a huge NIL deal. The Frederick, Maryland native has a relationship with Williams, a Washington D.C. native, from their time in the DMV, and speculation was that could play a role in a potential decision, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. "Jordan Addison is from Fredrick, Maryland," Thamel said. "Caleb Williams is also from the DC area. There’s ties from that DMV relationship that could help Addision end up at USC." Moreover, Addison was first officially linked to the Texas on May 10, when he posted a story on his Instagram of himself in Texas. Later that weekend, Addison took his talents on an official visit to the USC campus in sunny California, and then was expected to take a visit with Nick Saban at Alabama. But that apparently never happened.

Addison is the Trojans' latest major addition since the arrival of coach Lincoln Riley, who has thoroughly transformed the roster with extensive use of the transfer portal. Also joining USC under Riley: Former Sooners receiver Mario Williams, Oregon running back Travis Dye, Arizona State linebacker Eric Gentry, Alabama linebacker Shane Lee and Colorado receiver Brenden Rice, among others. Out of high school, Addison was a four-star recruit and the No. 9 prospect in the state of Maryland from the Class of 2020, according to the On3 Consensus. He also comes in as a member of the On3 NIL 100 as the No. 98-ranked player with an NIL Valuation of $139K. – AP, On3.com and other online sources

According to folks in Texas, the Longhorns are in good position for defending Biletnikoff winner Jordan Addison. Some folks say Addison no longer plans to visit Alabama. Time will tell. If so - and that is a big if - Texas might be on the verge of landing the biggest remaining prize in the NCAA Transfer Portal. On Tuesday, Inside Texas reported that the race for Biletnikoff winning wide receiver transfer Jordan Addison is 'looking more and more like a two-team race' between the Longhorns and the USC Trojans. The report also stated that the Longhorns and Trojans visits have gone so well, that Addison has no longer intended to take a previously planned visit to Alabama.

Addison reportedly left the Panthers due to potential NIL opportunities and took a recent visit to both the 40 Acres and to Los Angeles to visit the Trojans. If the Longhorns are able to add Addison he would join other offensive playmakers that have come to Austin through the portal such as receiver Isaiah Neyor, tight end Jahleel Billingsley, and quarterback Quinn Ewers in an offense that already features two of the nation's top playmakers - running back Bijan Robinson and receiver Xavier Worthy. Much like Addison, Worthy was recently recruited by a division one program to leave Austin himself on a NIL deal but elected to remain with the Longhorns. - Rock Herald
