  2019 AFCA FCS COACHES' SECOND TEAM ALL-AMERICAN: WR Kristian Wilkerson, R-Sr., Southeast Missouri St.,...Wilkerson finished as SEMO's top receiver for the fourth consecutive year. He earned First-Team All-OVC honors after catching 71 passes for 1,350 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 starts. Wilkerson averaged 103.8 receiving yards per game and became the first Redhawks receiver to get 1,000 yards in a season in 17 years. His 1,350 yards rank second all-time in a single-season at SEMO. Wilkerson had over 100 receiving yards in seven games with a season-high 254 yards vs. Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 9). He broke SEMO's all-time career records in receiving yards (3,540), receiving touchdowns (33) and pass receptions (219). Hall went over 100 tackles (113) for the second year in a row. A three-year starting inside linebacker, Hall also tallied nine tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions, two pass breakups, three forced fumbles and eight quarterback hurries in 12 starts this year. He was named OVC Defensive Player of the Week two-straight weeks and posted double-digit tackles a total of six times in 2019. He broke three of SEMO's career receiving records this season, including receiving yards (3,426), receiving touchdowns (33) and receptions (214). Wilkerson caught 66 passes for 1,236 yards and 10 touchdowns in 12 starts this season. He ranks third in the OVC in receiving yards per game (103) and fourth in receptions per game (5.5). Wilkerson is also third in the nation in receiving yards and seventh in receiving yards per game. He finished with over 100 receiving yards in five games this year and recorded an OVC-best 254 receiving yards vs. Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 9).   NOV 25 OHIO VALLEY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Zach Hall, LB, 6-0, 238, Sr., Louisville, Ky., Southeast Missouri,...For the second-straight week Hall was named OVC Defensive Player of the Week after leading Southeast Missouri to a 31-24 win over Murray State which helped the Redhawks earn a share of the OVC Championship and earn an at-large playoff berth. The reigning National Defensive Player of the Year had 10 tackles, a quarterback hurry, a pass breakup and returned an interception 61 yards for a touchdown.

The pick-six came midway through the second quarter with the game tied at 10 and helped turned the momentum for Southeast Missouri. He keyed a defense that shutout MSU in allowed just 114 yards of total offense in the second half. It marked the fourth time in five games Hall had double-digit tackles. Hall ranks 26th nationally in tackles/game (9.3).   #12 Southeast Missouri (9-3) will host Missouri Valley Football Conference member #13 Illinois State (8-4) in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Division I Football Championship on Saturday, Nov. 30. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., CT, at Houck Field. The game will air live on ESPN3. The winner of the SEMO and ISU matchup will advance to play Central Arkansas, which secured the #8 national seed. The Redhawks entered this year's 24-team bracket as an at-large selection joining automatic qualifier Austin Peay out of the Ohio Valley Conference. APSU also plays a first round game against Furman Saturday.

SEMO makes its third playoff appearance all-time and advances to the postseason for a program-first second straight season. The Redhawks earned a share of the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference title with Austin Peay after beating Murray State, 31-24, Nov. 23. This year marks the seventh of an expanded 24-team playoff field. In 2010 the FCS Playoffs expanded from 16 teams to 20 teams, the first expansion since the field grew from 12 to 16 teams in 1997. The OVC has placed multiple teams in the playoffs (which began in 1978) in 22 of the 41 years; the OVC has now had multiple teams in the field in seven of the last 10 and nine of the last 14 years. - Southeast Missouri Football

  Daniel Santacaterina threw a pair of touchdown passes to Zack Smith late in the game that made the difference as Southeast Missouri State rallied to beat Murray State 31-24 in a regular-season finale on Saturday. The Redhawks (9-3, 7-1) trailed 24-17 at the start of the fourth quarter when Santacaterina capped a 12-play, 68-yard drive with a 17-yard touchdown throw to Smith to tie it 24-all. They took over on downs after a failed Murray State drive and Santacaterina once again went to Smith, this time from 6 yards, for another score and a 31-24 lead with 8:57 to go. Santacaterina finished with 215 yards and three touchdowns passing for the Redhawks. Zion Curtis carried 15 times for 86 yards and Kristian Wilkerson had 11 receptions for 95 yards and a score. HIs sack came on the opening possession of the third quarter, went for -10 yards and forced a punt which teammate Shabari Davis returned 46 yards for a touchdown to put the Redhawks on top for good. Hall's interception came in the fourth quarter and helped Southeast end the game. Hall went over 100 tackles for the second-straight season, the first SEMO player to achieve that since 2011-12. Hall ranks 24th nationally in tackles (9.3/game).   Shabari Davis returned a punt 36 yards for a touchdown and, trailing at halftime, Southeastern Missouri State scored three late touchdowns to defeat Eastern Illinois 26-12 on Saturday, winning at O'Brien Stadium for the first time since 2010. After Davis. punt return just after halftime, Daniel Santacaterina and Mark Robinson scored fourth-quarter rushing touchdowns for the Redhawks (8-3, 6-1 Ohio Valley Conference). SE Missouri State notched back-to-back eight-win seasons for the first time in program history.

SE Missouri State remains in a first-place tie in the OVC with Austin Peay. The Governors beat the Redhawks 28-24 last month. The Governors end the season next week against Eastern Illinois (1-10, 1-6) and Southeast Missouri State ends with Murray State. Eastern Illinois led 7-6 at the half on Harry Woodbery's 26-yard pass to Isaiah Hill to cap an 87-yard drive. Hill gained 152 yards on 13 catches while Woodbery was 6 of 9 passing for 118 yards Santacaterina as 16 of 27 passing for 139 yards. Robinson gained 77 on 13 carries. - AP College Football

The senior averaged 25.4 yards/catch and scored on touchdown catches of 68 and 45 yards in the first half. The 254 receiving yards are the second-most by a FCS player this season.

Wilkerson ranks third nationally in receiving yards (1,085), fifth in receiving yards/game (108.5), 13th in receiving touchdowns (9) and 14th in yards/reception (21.27). The senior now ranks second in OVC history in career receiving touchdowns (32), just three behind the all-time leader. He is also fourth in OVC history in receiving yards (3,275) and 10th in receptions (199). This marks the second time this season he has been named OVC Offensive Player of the Week.   Zion Custis ran 12 yards for a touchdown with 37 seconds left and Southeast Missouri State turned back an upset bid by Eastern Kentucky 38-31 on Saturday. The Redhawks (7-3, 5-1 Ohio Valley Conference), ranked 18th in the FCS Coaches poll, trailed 31-14 with 10:11 remaining in the third quarter before scoring 24 unanswered points. The Colonels (5-5, 3-3) took a 7-0 lead on Daryl McCleskey Jr.'s 7-yard run, but Daniel Santacaterina connected with Kristian Wilkerson for a 68-yard scoring strike to pull SEMO even after one quarter. Samuel Hayworth's 27-yard field put EKU up 10-7, but Santacaterina and Wilkerson hooked up for a 45-yard score and a 14-10 lead for the Redhawks. The Colonels scored two TDs in the final 5:45 of the second quarter -- Parker McKinney's 6-yard run and Alonzo Booth's 12-yard run -- to grab a 24-14 halftime lead.

Eastern Kentucky stretched its lead to 17 when Aaron Patrick sacked Santacaterina, forcing a fumble that was recovered in the end zone by Tre Turner. From there it was all Redhawks. Santacaterina pulled SEMO within 10 points by the end of the third quarter with a 7-yard TD toss to Zack Smith. Custis pulled the Redhawks within 31-28 on a 4-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter. Kendrick Tiller's 40-yard field goal with 5:55 left to play knotted the score at 31 and set the stage for Custis' second TD run. Santacaterina completed 17 of 27 passes for 295 yards with three TDs and two interceptions. Wilkerson finished with a career-best 10 catches for 254 yards and two scores. The victory was the first for the Redhawks over the Tigers in Nashville since 1996. The 156 rushing yards are the third-most by an OVC player this season Hess carried the ball 14 times in averaging 11.1 yards/carry. He scored his first touchdown on an 18-yard run early in the third quarter and added his second score on a 73-yard scamper to open the fourth quarter and put the game out of reach.   Geno Hess ran for 156 yards and two scores and Daniel Santacaterina passed for 271 yards and another touchdown as Southeast Missouri State dominated Tennessee State 32-13 Saturday to remain in the hunt for the Ohio Valley Conference championship. The victory ended an eight-game losing streak on the Tigers' home field. Santacaterina's touchdown toss was to Kristian Wilkerson who finished with 111 yards receiving. The catch gave Wilkerson 30 for his career, making him the all-time leader at SEMO, passing Paul McRoberts (2012-15). Kendrick Tiller booted three field goals to help the Redhawks to a 15-0 lead at the break. Hess opened the second half with an 18-yard scoring run and then scampered 73 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth to establish a 32-7 lead. SEMO (6-3, 4-1) has won three straight after falling to Austin Peay 28-21. Cameron Rosendahl led the Tigers (2-7, 1-4), throwing for 217 yards and a score. - AP College Football
