  Defending FCS champion North Dakota State and fellow Missouri Valley Conference member South Dakota State lead the way with six selections each on the Stats Perform 2022 FCS Preseason All-America Team, announced on Monday. Included are NDSU senior fullback Hunter Luepke, who's been a first-team selection on each of the past two Stats Perform postseason All-America squads, and SDSU tight end Tucker Kraft, also a returning first-team selection who as a junior is considered one of the leading 2023 NFL Draft prospects in the NCAA's Division I subdivision. All 15 FCS conferences and 57 schools are represented among the 105 All-Americans, which included 56 players who were postseason All-Americans previously. - STATS FCS Football

  Isaiah Davis ran for three touchdowns, Chris Oladokun and Jaxon Janke combined for two scores and South Dakota State used a big second half to defeat fifth-seeded Villanova 35-21 on Saturday in the FCS quarterfinals. The Jackrabbits (11-3), the only unseeded team to reach the quarterfinals, will play the winner of top-seeded Sam Houston and eighth-seed Montana State in next week's semifinals. Trailing 21-14 at halftime, the Jackrabbits tied the game on a 2-yard run by Davis to complete a 71-yard drive, then went ahead on Oladokun's 38-yard strike to Janke late in the third quarter. Davis covered 54 yards of a 67-yard drive that ended with his 1-yard plunge and a 34-21 lead with 8:13 remaining. Michael Griffith made an interception with 4:43 left, the 21st for the Jackrabbits and the most for an FCS team this season. Davis finished with 25 carries for 174 yards.   Isaiah Davis had 19 carries for 108 yards and two touchdowns, Pierre Strong added 73 yards rushing and a score, and South Dakota State beat No. 4 seed Sacramento State 24-19 on Saturday night in the second round of the FCS playoffs. Un-seeded South Dakota State (10-3), ranked No. 11 in the most recent FCS coaches poll, plays No. 5 seed Villanova in next weekend's quarterfinals. The Hornets (9-3) had their program-record eight-game win streak snapped. After Sacramento State (9-3) went three-and-out on the game's opening drive, Chris Oladokun hit Jadon Janke for a 29-yard game on third-and-3 before Strong capped an eight-play, 73-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown run and the Jackrabbits led the rest of the way.

Cole Frahm kicked a 45-yard field goal to make it 10-0 late in the first quarter and Davis capped a seven-play 88 yard drive with a 7-yard touchdown run about 5 minutes into the second quarter. The Hornets moved to the SDSU 35 before Cade Terveer picked off a pass at the 23 and returned it 4 yards and Davis added a 6-yard scoring run to make it 24-0 with 1:43 to play in the first half. Kyle Sentkowski sandwiched field goals of 44 - as time in the second quarter expired - and 48 yards early in the fourth around a 3-yard touchdown pass from Jake Dunniway to Pierre Williams. Back-up quarterback Asher O'Hara threw a 1-yard TD pass to Isaiah Gable to cap the scoring with 2:33 to play. - South Dakota State/AP College Football

A finalist for the Stats Perform FCS Walter Payton Award, he topped the 100-yard mark in eight of 11 games and averaged 6.9 yards per carry.
