  Dom Nankil passed for 288 yards and threw two touchdown passes to Cole Monach, Adam Criter ran for TDs of 24 and 8 yards, and San Diego beat Davidson 40-28 on Saturday. Nankil completed 25 of 36 with an interception and Monach finished with six receptions for 113 yards. Criter had 73 yards rushing on 10 carries for San Diego (4-4, 2-2 Pioneer Football League). Christopher Hall's 37-yard kickoff return to near midfield set up a 23-yard field goal by Emiliano Salazar that gave San Diego the lead for good at 31-28 with 10:34 to play.

After the Wildcats went three-and-out, Nankil threw a 30-yard TD pass to Monach on third-and-5 that made it a 10-point game with 4:44 remaining. Evan Niemi sacked Coulter Cleland in the end zone for a safety that capped the scoring with 3:04 to play. Cleland was 15-of-21 passing for 277 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions and Ivan Hoyt had seven receptions for 113 yards and a score. Mason Sheron ran for TDs of 8 and 5 yards in the third quarter. Davidson (1-7, 0-4) has lost four in a row and five straight in conference play, dating to last season. - AP College Football

  WEEK 5 PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Emiliano Salazar, San Diego (Sophomore, Kicker/Punter, Orange, California),...Salazar connected on all of his field goals, including a 25-yarder as time expired that lifted San Diego to a 30-27 PFL victory against St. Thomas on Saturday. He got San Diego on the scoreboard with a 42-yard field goal in the second quarter. In the fourth quarter, Salazar tied the game with a 34-yard field goal with 1:52 left and then hit the game-winner. He also made all three PATs to finish the day with 12 points.   Emiliano Salazar kicked two field goals in the final 1:52 and San Diego scored the final 20 points to beat St. Thomas-Minnesota 30-27 in a Pioneer Football League opener on Saturday. Salazar kicked a 34-yard field goal with 1:52 left to tie it 27-all. Tre Moore sacked the Tommies' Andy Peters for a 16-yard loss on first down, and Jake Higgins recovered a Peters fumble after a 6-yard run on the next play to give San Diego (3-2, 1-0) the ball on the Tommies' 12-yard line with 53 seconds to go. Salazar's third field goal - a 25-yarder - on the final play completed the rally. Ben Hoiland's 40-yard field goal was the lone score in the first quarter as St. Thomas (2-2, 0-1) grabbed the lead.

Salazar tied it with a 42-yarder four minutes into the second, but Peters answered with 12-and 51-yard touchdown passes to Quentin Cobb-Butler in the final 6:15 to give the Tommies a 17-3 lead at halftime. Dom Nankil connected with Josh Heverly for a 41-yard touchdown to begin the third quarter, but Peters followed with a 53-yard touchdown run and Hoiland kicked a 44-yard field goal for a 27-10 lead. Criter had a 12-yard touchdown run for San Diego and Nankil fired a 54-yard scoring strike to Cole Monach with 7 seconds left to cut it to 27-24 heading to the final quarter. Nankil totaled 265 yards on 11-for-16 passing. Heverly had five receptions for 149 yards and Monach finished with 117 on nine catches. Criter carried 28 times for 120 yards. He posted the PFL's first 200-yard rushing performance of 2025, amassing 202 net yards on 34 carries, including the game winner. Colombo was responsible for 10 of San Diego's 18 first downs.   Adam Criter rushed for three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, including a go-ahead score with 1:04 remaining, and San Diego rallied from a 21-point deficit to beat Princeton 42-35 on Saturday. San Diego trailed 21-0 after the first quarter and 35-14 late in the second. Criter's late 8-yard touchdown run capped an 11-play, 81-yard drive that took nearly six minutes off the clock. Kai Colon led Princeton past midfield with eight seconds left, but his Hail Mary toss to the end zone was broken up on the final play. Criter had 25 carries for 105 yards for San Diego (2-2). He started in place of the injured Matt Colombo, who rushed for 202 yards in an overtime win on Sept. 6.

Tyler Voss was 25-of-34 passing for 237 yards and three touchdowns for San Diego. Cole Monach and Christopher Hall each made seven catches for 90-plus yards. Josh Heverly had eight catches and two touchdowns. Colon was 12 of 18 for 196 yards and a touchdown for Princeton (0-1). Blaine Hipa also threw for 87 yards. Dareion Murphy rushed for two touchdowns on his only two carries of the game. Ethan Clark had a team-high 72 yards rushing and a score. - AP College Football

  Dom Nankil accounted for three touchdowns, Matt Colombo added 202 yards on the ground with a touchdown run in overtime and San Diego beat Southern Utah 30-27 on Saturday night. Bronson Barron threw a pair of touchdown passes for Southern Utah inside the final 2:20 of regulation that tied it 24-all. Jayden Rogers then opened the extra period kicking a 28-yard field goal for the FCS No. 24 Thunderbirds (1-1).

Nankil ran for a 10-yard touchdown in the second quarter and connected with Colombo on a 5-yard touchdown pass midway through the third. Barron threw his first touchdown pass, a 7-yarder to Shane Carr, and Rogers added a 32-yard field goal to pull the Thunderbirds to 14-10 early in the fourth. Nankil answered with a 49-yard touchdown run that gave San Diego (1-1) a 21-10 lead with 10:33 remaining. He finished 6-of-16 passing for 64 yards and with 76 yards rushing on seven carries. He led the league in sacks (9.0) and tackles for loss (14.0) in San Diego's 10-game schedule. Kapapa posted 10 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in just seven league outings, ranking second and fifth in those respective categories. Erickson completed 14 of 27 passes for 174 yards with two interceptions. Vance Jefferson caught a 7-yard TD pass from Erickson that capped a 10-play, 96-yard drive that took nearly six minutes off the clock and opened the scoring late in the first quarter. Re-al Mitchell - who had 10 carries for 66 yards rushing - scored on a 3-yard reception to give San Diego (5-5, 4-3 Pioneer League) a 14-0 lead just before halftime. Erickson connected with Christian Brown for an 8-yard score on the opening drive of the game and Mitchell burst through the middle for a 75-yard touchdown for a 14-7 lead after one quarter. Mitchell, who had 127 yards on 12 carries, capped an 86-yard drive with a two-yard plunge and Aidan Lehman's 39-yard field goal as time expired put the Toreros (3-5, 3-3 Pioneer Football League) up 24-7 at halftime. Erickson, who was 22-of-30 passing for 258 yards found Rhyle Hanson for a 7-yard TD, the only score of the third quarter.
