  2025 PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Emiliano Salazar, San Diego,...Salazar, an Orange, California native, finished the season making 15-of-18 field goals and all 40 of his PATs while also averaging 44.76 yards per punt with 13 of his 37 punts going for 50-plus yards and also handled kickoff duties for the Toreros. He was the Toreros' kickoff and PAT specialist for the season's first four games before taking over all kicking duties in their PFL opener against St. Thomas. Still, Salazar finished the season second in punting average among PFL punters, thanks to his league-leading 50-yard punt count, and was one of three kickers to score 15 field goals during the season. - Pioneer Football League

  WEEK 10 PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tre Moore, San Diego (Senior, Linebacker, Chandler, Arizona),...Moore finished with six tackles (five solo), including two for loss and a sack, and had an interception in San Diego's 31-13 victory against Dayton. After a San Diego fumble late in the first half, Moore led a defensive effort that only allowed Dayton to gain 10 yards. On back-to-back plays, he scored a sack and then intercepted a pass to end the drive and help preserve San Diego's 7-0 lead while also setting up a drive that resulted in a touchdown just before the break. - Pioneer Football League

He split the uprights for a 23-yard field goal and five PATs. Salazar also averaged 51.0 yards on his two punts, with one of 58 yards and one downed at the Davidson five-yard line.   Matt Colombo rushed for four touchdowns and Adam Criter added another running score for San Diego in a 42-8 win over Stetson on Saturday to wrap up the regular season for both teams. Colombo's four touchdowns tied a single-game program record. He rushed from 37-, 14-, 3- and 1-yards out. On 23 attempts, the graduate student rushed for 129 total yards. The Toreros (8-4, 6-2 Pioneer Football League) scored first, on Columbo's 14-yard run up the middle, then Criter's 53-yard score put them up by double digits. Colombo scored two more times, making it 28-0 at halftime.

San Diego quarterback Dom Nankil completed 11 of 14 for 102 yards but he was intercepted once. Quarterback Chris Stephenson rushed up the middle in the fourth quarter for a 1-yard touchdown, the Hatters' only score of the game. Stephenson rushed again to complete the two-point conversion. Stephenson finished 12 of 24 for 69 yards for Stetson (3-8, 2-5). He threw two interceptions, one of them returned 25 yards for a pick-6 by Mo Vanderweil. - AP College Football

  Matt Colombo rushed for 113 yards including a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter that kicked off a run of three late scores and San Diego beat Butler 29-7. Colombo's 8-yard touchdown run came with eight minutes left and was followed by Dom Nankil's 43-yard TD pass to Josh Heverly following an interception by Nate Fischer and Dam Criter's 4-yard TD. A high punt snap into the end zone gave the Toreros a safety and a one-point lead earlier in the quarter.

San Diego (7-4, 5-2 Pioneer Football League) led 6-0 on a pair of Emiliano Salazar field goals before the Bulldogs (5-6, 3-4) scored late in the third quarter on Reagan Andrew's 10-yard pass to Brady Preston. Nankil threw for 218 yards and was intercepted once. Cole Monach had 119 yards receiving and Heverly 92. Andrew threw for 141 yards and was intercepted once and rushed for a team-high 49 yards. - AP College Football

  Matt Colombo and Adam Criter combined for 238 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns apiece in San Diego's 43-27 victory over Valparaiso on Saturday. Colombo carried 15 times for 121 yards and Criter had 117 yards on 26 carries. They had all but four of the Toreros' rushing yards with quarterback Dom Nankil gaining four yards on three carries. Nankil completed 21 of 29 passes for 219 yards with one touchdown for San Diego (6-4, 4-2 Pioneer Football League).

Valpo's Rowan Keefe threw two touchdown passes in the second quarter and the Beacons (1-9, 0-6) led 14-13 at halftime. Criter's 9-yard run made it 20-14 in the third quarter but Ryan Ricketti's 100-yard return on the ensuing kickoff gave Valpo a 21-20 lead. San Diego took the lead for good, 26-21, on Colombo's 3-yard touchdown run in the middle of the third quarter. Keefe threw for 234 yards with three touchdowns but he was intercepted three times. Other than a 67-10 victory against Virginia Lynchburg to open the season, this was only the second time that the Beacons scored more than 17 points. - AP College Football

  Dom Nankil threw for two touchdowns and Sean Scheck had 2.5 sacks to lead a strong defensive performance from San Diego in a 31-13 win over Dayton on Saturday. Matt Colombo opened the scoring for the Toreros (5-4, 3-2 Pioneer League) midway through the second quarter. With three seconds left in the half, Nankil found Dylan Tapley for a 40-yard strike to make it 14-0. Nankil connected with Cole Monach on an 11-yard touchdown in the third, and Adam Criter scored a 6-yard touchdown run at the start of the fourth to make it 28 straight points for the Toreros. Scheck's led a five-sack performance from the defense as the Flyers (6-3, 4-2) were held to minus-6 yards rushing on 28 attempts. Drew VanVleet was 18-of-30 passing for 220 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Flyers. Both scores came in the fourth quarter.   Dom Nankil passed for 288 yards and threw two touchdown passes to Cole Monach, Adam Criter ran for TDs of 24 and 8 yards, and San Diego beat Davidson 40-28 on Saturday. Nankil completed 25 of 36 with an interception and Monach finished with six receptions for 113 yards. Criter had 73 yards rushing on 10 carries for San Diego (4-4, 2-2 Pioneer Football League). Christopher Hall's 37-yard kickoff return to near midfield set up a 23-yard field goal by Emiliano Salazar that gave San Diego the lead for good at 31-28 with 10:34 to play.

After the Wildcats went three-and-out, Nankil threw a 30-yard TD pass to Monach on third-and-5 that made it a 10-point game with 4:44 remaining. Evan Niemi sacked Coulter Cleland in the end zone for a safety that capped the scoring with 3:04 to play. Cleland was 15-of-21 passing for 277 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions and Ivan Hoyt had seven receptions for 113 yards and a score. Mason Sheron ran for TDs of 8 and 5 yards in the third quarter. Davidson (1-7, 0-4) has lost four in a row and five straight in conference play, dating to last season. - AP College Football

  Emiliano Salazar kicked two field goals in the final 1:52 and San Diego scored the final 20 points to beat St. Thomas-Minnesota 30-27 in a Pioneer Football League opener on Saturday. Salazar kicked a 34-yard field goal with 1:52 left to tie it 27-all. Tre Moore sacked the Tommies' Andy Peters for a 16-yard loss on first down, and Jake Higgins recovered a Peters fumble after a 6-yard run on the next play to give San Diego (3-2, 1-0) the ball on the Tommies' 12-yard line with 53 seconds to go. Salazar's third field goal - a 25-yarder - on the final play completed the rally. Ben Hoiland's 40-yard field goal was the lone score in the first quarter as St. Thomas (2-2, 0-1) grabbed the lead.

Salazar tied it with a 42-yarder four minutes into the second, but Peters answered with 12-and 51-yard touchdown passes to Quentin Cobb-Butler in the final 6:15 to give the Tommies a 17-3 lead at halftime. Dom Nankil connected with Josh Heverly for a 41-yard touchdown to begin the third quarter, but Peters followed with a 53-yard touchdown run and Hoiland kicked a 44-yard field goal for a 27-10 lead. Criter had a 12-yard touchdown run for San Diego and Nankil fired a 54-yard scoring strike to Cole Monach with 7 seconds left to cut it to 27-24 heading to the final quarter. Nankil totaled 265 yards on 11-for-16 passing. Heverly had five receptions for 149 yards and Monach finished with 117 on nine catches. Criter carried 28 times for 120 yards.
