  WEEK 2 NEC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jayson Jenkins, Robert Morris, Punter/Kicker, Gr, 5-11, 180 lbs., Monroeville, PA/Gateway, Last Week's Stats: 6 punts, 253 punting yards, 42.2 yards per punt, 52-yard long, 1 inside-20, 1 TB, 4 kickoffs, 259 kickoff yards, 64.8 yards per kickoff, 1 TB, 1-1 FG (46 yards)...Jenkins ran it back as the NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Special Teams Player of the Week after a busy - and impressive - Saturday at Youngstown State. The versatile left-footed kicker/punter averaged 42.2 yards per punt and 64.8 yards per kickoff after launching the ball 253 and 259 yards, respectively. Registering a 52-yard long punt while placing one inside the 20-yard marker, Jenkins was perfect in his lone field goal attempt, a 46-yarder that went down as a career-best boot for the graduate student.

A local product of Monroeville, PA, he became the first NEC player to repeat as the league's Special Teams Player of the Week since LIU's Will Lynch closed out the 2022 campaign with back-to-back honors. In addition, Jenkins is the first Robert Morris special teams' member to turn the weekly award trick in consecutive weeks since Dante Satcher accomplished the feat in 2015. On the season, Jenkins, who has converted on each of his two field goal attempts, is averaging 41.5 yards per punt to rank fifth in the league. - NEC Football

The graduate student booted 11 punts for 453 yards and landed five of those inside the Mountaineers' 20-yard line.   Ethan Shine ran for 133 yards, Zach Tanner threw two short touchdown passes and Robert Morris defeated West Liberty 28-14 on Saturday night. Tanner threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Thomas Lee, Donta Whack scored on a 2-yard run and Tanner connected with Jaqai Carter for a 4-yard score, giving the Colonials (1-2) a 21-0 lead before their Division II opponent got on the board late in the third quarter.

Shine scored on a 1-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter for a 28-7 lead and Kohl Meisman's 10-yard pass to Levi Gullion got the Hilltoppers within 28-14 with about nine minutes remaining. After a long drive by Robert Morris ended in a lost fumble, Meisman was intercepted by Tyler Henry on West Liberty's next possession. Robert Morris then ran out the clock. Tanner attempted only nine passes and completed eight for 83 yards. Meisman was 20-of-34 passing for 219 yards, with the one touchdown and two interceptions.- AP College Football

  Tre Jordan III recovered a blocked punt in the end zone with 2:31 left in the third quarter and the play served as the game-winning score and Merrimack beat Stonehill 17-10 on Saturday. Kendal Sims broke through the line and blocked Randy Leavitt's punt attempt on fourth-and-10 with the Skyhawks at their own 20-yard line. A scramble ensued and Jordan fell on it in the end zone with 2:31 left in the third quarter. Merrimack (7-2, 5-0 Northeast Conference) rallied from a 10-point deficit to secure the win. Ty Edmonds Jr.'s 24-yard scoring run with 8:31 left in the third knotted it a 10. Stonehill (3-3, 1-3) had 20 first downs to 10 for Merrimack, outgained the Warriors in total yards 290-213 and held the ball 34:15 to 25:45 in time of possession.   2021 ALL-BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE SECOND-TEAM (COCHES/MEDIA): LB - Jamar Shegog, R-Soph., Robert Morris,...Shegog, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., played in all 10 games for the Colonials in 2021, leading RMU in tackles with 78, including 41 solo stops. He also registered nine tackles for loss, including two and-a-half sacks. Twice during the season Shegog recorded a double-digit tackle effort, including a career-high 18 stops in RMU's season opener @ Central Michigan (9/11). He also notched 10 tackles @ North Alabama (11/6). Shegog finished the regular season ranked fifth in the Big South in tackles per game (7.8), an average that was tops among league linebackers.   Nick Bisceglia kicked a 25-yard field goal to give Robert Morris a 20-17 overtime victory over Campbell in the teams' season finale on Saturday. After Bisceglia's kick, Isaac Riffle missed a 24-yard field goal attempt to end the game. Campbell (3-8, 2-5 Big South) had a chance to win the game in regulation before being thwarted on the final play of regulation that involved three field goal attempts. Campbell reached the Colonials 17 with two seconds remaining after a drive set up by Keshawn Thompson's interception. Riffle missed on a 34-yarder but an offsides penalty gave him another chance 5 yards closer. He kicked it through the uprights and the Camels rushed the field. But Campbell was called for a facemask penalty and Riffle's 44-yard attempt went wide right and the teams went to overtime. George Martin passed for 173 yards and a touchdown and Alijah Jackson rushed for 132 on 23 carries for the Colonials (4-6, 3-4). - AP College Football

  George Martin threw for 315 yards and two touchdowns, and Nick Bisceglia made a 38-yard field goal with five seconds left to help Robert Morris beat Hampton 38-35 on Saturday. Martin highlighted Robert Morris' final drive with a scramble to get away from pressure before finding tight end Dylan Smith over the middle for a 20-yard gain, setting up the field goal two plays later. It was Robert Morris' first lead since 10-7.

Alijah Jackson carried it 25 times for 127 yards and a touchdown for Robert Morris (3-4, 2-2 Big South). James Westry caught six passes for 101 yards. D'Andre Hicks and Jackson each had a touchdown grab. Robert Morris overcame five rushing touchdowns from Hampton quarterback Jett Duffey. Duffey was 14-of-20 passing for 287 yards, and he carried it 18 times for 84 yards for Hampton (3-5, 1-3). He tied a program record for rushing touchdowns in a single game, set by Alonzo Coleman in 2005. - AP College Football

  Lorenzo Euline returned an interception 50 yards into the end zone with about three minutes remaining to help Robert Morris beat Charleston Southern 31-24 on Saturday. Euline's pick-6 gave the Colonials (1-1, 2-2 Big South Conference) a 31-21 lead. Sam Babbush kicked a 26-yard field goal for Charleston Southern (0-2, 1-3) with 1:10 to play, but the Buccaneers didn't recover the ensuing onside kick. George Martin was 28-of-41 for 292 yards passing for Robert Morris. Martin threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to D'Andre Hicks in the first quarter, and his 19-yard scoring throw to James Westry gave the Colonials a 24-21 lead with 6:43 left in the game. Westby finished with five catches for 98 yards and Hicks had nine receptions for 79 yards.   George Martin found D'Andre Hicks for a 17-yard touchdown as Robert Morris put together a nearly six-minute drive late in the fourth quarter to edge Howard 22-16 on Saturday. Howard's Quinton Williams ran for one touchdown, passed for another and Faraji Woodson kicked a 27-yard field goal as the Bison rallied into a 16-13 lead with nine minutes left. The Colonials (1-1) put together an 11-play, 77-yard drive ending with a quick shovel pass from Martin to Hicks for the game-winner. Martin completed 11-of-21 passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns, both to Hicks. Martin also ran for a score. Alijah Jackson carried the ball 26 times for 107 yards for Robert Morris. Williams went 25-for-40 for 254 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Bison (0-4). Postgame, Robert Morris held a memorial service for the university's first football coach, Joe Walton in the stadium that bears his name. Walton passed away in August.
