  2019 ALL-COLONIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION SECOND TEAM (COACHES): Branyan Javier-Castillo, Rhode Island, LB, Sr., Rockville, Md.,...Javier-Castillo started all 12 games at linebacker, and started all 23 games he played in his two seasons with the Rams. He led the conference with 108 tackles, and was second in the league with 9.0 tackles per game.   2019 ALL-COLONIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION SECOND TEAM (COACHES): Ahmere Dorsey, Rhode Island, KR & PR, Sr., Wilmington, Del.,...Dorsey again shined on special teams for the Rams, leading the country for the second straight season in combined kick and punt return yards with 1,181 total yards. He was one of seven players in the nation to return two kickoffs for touchdowns. Dorsey was third in the CAA in kick return averaged (27.0) and punt return average (10.4). He finished the season with 973 kick return yards and 208 punt return yards. He is the only player in program history to top 1,000 special teams yards in a season, and he has done so for each of the last two seasons. - Rhode Island Football

  2019 PSAC EAST FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Ja'Den McKenzie, West Chester,...West Chester's Ja'Den McKenzie was tabbed Freshman of the Year. He is the fourth Golden Ram to win the award and first since 2001 (Bob Findora). McKenzie ranks eighth in the PSAC in rushing yards (826) and rushing yards per game (75.1). He is one of seven PSAC athletes to have at least 10 rushing touchdowns. The freshman has accumulated four 100-yard rushing games, including a season-high 179 at Shepherd.   OCT 7 PSAC EASTERN DIVISION OFFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Ja'Den McKenzie, West Chester (Fr./RB), Morton, Pa./Springfield-DELCO,...McKenzie rushed 16 times for 125 yards and two TDs to help West Chester to a 29-21 road win at Shippensburg. McKenzie scored the final two TDs of the game to erase a 21-16 deficit in the second half and spark the Golden Rams to victory. His 30-yard TD run with under two minutes left in the game extended the visitor's lead to eight points.   NOV 4 CAA FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Malik Gavek, So., S, Rhode Island (Cranston, R.I./Cranston East),...In just his second start, Gavek recorded a career-high 14 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown in Rhode Island's 42-14 victory over Merrimack. The interception return gave the Rams a 21-7 lead early in the third quarter and both fumble recoveries, one of which he forced, came inside the URI 5-yard line, stopping scoring drives.   Vito Priore threw a touchdown strike to Aaron Parker late in the fourth quarter that gave Rhode Island the edge it needed to defeat Brown 31-28 on Saturday. The Rams (1-4) trailed by four when Priore capped a late 63-yard drive with a 14-yard scoring pass to Parker for a 31-28 lead with 5:43 left to play. Following the kickoff, the defense held Brown to 14 yards and a single first down, forced a punt and Rhode Island ran out the clock.

Priore finished with a career-high 389 yards passing with three touchdowns. Zoe Bryant Jr. ran for 63 yards and a score, Isaiah Coulter had 171 yards receiving and a score and Parker had 87 yards receiving and a pair of touchdowns. Rhode Island led 17-14 at halftime and stretched it to 24-14 in the third quarter on Bryant's 7-yard scoring run. But the Bears (1-2) answered with two touchdown runs by Allen Smith early in the fourth to move ahead 28-24 with 8:20 to play.   SEPT 9 CAA FOOTBALL CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Aaron Parker, Sr., WR, Rhode Island (Prince George’s Co., Md./Gwynn Park),...Parker set career-highs with 12 receptions for 227 yards and a TD in Rhode Island’s triple OT setback to Delaware. It was the most catches by a URI player since 1994 and the 5th-most receiving yards in school history. Nine of his 12 grabs went for a first down and his 24-yard TD catch gave the Rams a 19-14 lead in the fourth quarter. The 227 yards are the 2nd-most by any player in FCS in 2019. - CAA Football

He earned second team all-conference honors as a punt returner after he ranked second in the league in punt return average at 11.1 yards per return.
