  OCT 24 SWAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: In a non-conference matchup Prairie View A&M's Trazon Connley led the Panthers to a 54-21 win over Lamar. He scored a career best three rushing touchdowns to go along with two passing touchdowns.   Trazon Connley ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more to lead Prairie View A&M to a 54-21 victory over winless Lamar on Saturday. Jaden Stewart rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown on just nine carries and Ahmad Antoine had 100 on seven with a score for the Panthers (4-3, 3-1 Southland Conference), who piled up 301 yards on the ground. Stewart opened the scoring with a 56-yard touchdown run on the fifth snap of the game.

Connley was 15-of-21 passing for 179 yards, connecting with Collier Ricks and Colbey Washington, for scores of 16 and 21 yards, respectively. He also ran the ball 12 times for 119 yards. Connley's TD runs covered 7, 38 and 5 yards. Lamar (0-7, 0-3) picked up 358 yards rushing, led by Khalan Griffin with 114. However, the Cardinals were just 9-of-19 passing for 72 yards from two quarterbacks and were shut out in the second half. - AP College Football

  Trazon Connley threw for a touchdown and ran for two scores and Prairie View A&M never never trailed as it beat Alabama St. 25-15 on Saturday. Conley finished 14-for-19 passing for 180 yards with the touchdown and an interception. His 16-yard scoring run put the Panthers (2-2, 0-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) on the board first. Later, his 2-yard run with 5:59 before halftime made it 14-6. Ahmad Antoine ran for 66 yards on 12 carries for the Panthers. Dematrius Davis threw for 173 yards, a touchdown and an interception for the Hornets (2-2, 2-0). Jacory Merritt amassed 143 yards on 17 carries for Alabama State. - AP College Football

  Jaden Stewart, Ahmad Antoine and Trazon Connley all rushed for more than 100 yards and Prairie View A&M defeated Texas Southern 40-23 on Saturday night in the 37th Labor Day Classic. The win came in the first game for Prairie View coach Bubba McDowell, a former Texas Southern assistant. His Panthers did not complete a pass but churned out 388 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. Panthers QBs were 0-for-6 passing with two interceptions. Stewart had 119 yards with two touchdowns, Antoine 115 yards with one touchdown and Connley 109 yards with two touchdowns, including a 70-yard score. Texas Southern managed just 166 yards of offense but got rushing touchdowns from Ladarius Owens and Jacorey Howard.   Jawon Pass ran for two scores and his last with 6:38 left thwarted Alabama State's upset bid as Prairie View A&M beat the Hornets 24-20 on Saturday. Alabama State entered the fourth quarter with a 20-10 lead before Lyndemian Brooks ran it in from 14 yards to end a five-play, 71-yard drive that lasted 90 seconds and brought the Panthers (7-1, 6-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference) within three. Prairie View's defense stiffened after halftime not allowing a point and forcing the Hornets (3-5, 2-4) to punt on each second-half possession.   Jawon Pass threw for 280 yards, Lyndemian Brooks ran for another 108 and Prairie View A&M pulled away in the second half to defeat Southern 48-21 on Saturday night. Prairie View (6-1, 5-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference) led 21-14 midway through the third quarter before finishing with a stretch of five scores in five possessions. Luis Reyes kicked a short field goal, Pass threw to Evan Fairs for a 56-yard touchdown, Jaden Stewart and Brooks scored on short runs and Reyes added another field goal to make the score 48-14 with 2:14 left to play. Pass completed 19 of 27 passes and had two TD throws. Stewart added 83 yards rushing with two scores. Brooks also scored twice. Glendon McDaniel was 14-of-22 passing for 114 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Jaguars (3-4, 2-2).   Jawon Pass ran for two touchdowns, including a 59-yarder, Lyndemian Brooks scored on an 83-yard run and Prairie View A&M beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 27-17 on Thursday night. Pass, a graduate transfer from Louisville, was 15-of-26 passing for 160 yards and added 70 yards rushing on six carries. UAPB's Zack Piwniczka made a 33-yard field goal to open the scoring but two plays from scrimmage later Pass took the snap and, on a quarterback draw, raced untouched 59 yards to make it 7-3 with 9:21 left in the first quarter and Panthers led the rest of the way.

Brooks took a handoff, started to his right and then cut upfield, bursting down the right sideline for an 83-yard TD that made it 14-3 going into the second quarter. Xzavier Vaughn hit Josh Wilkes for an 82-yard catch-and-run for the Golden Lions midway through the period but Prairie View (4-1, 3-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference) answered with an eight-play, 75-yard drive that made it 21-9 when Pass scored on a 4-yard run with 5:07 left in the first half. Luis Reyes booted a 56-yard field goal to give the Panthers (3-1, 2-0) a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter. CJ Russell scored on a 2-yard run near the end of the first half as the Tigers (1-3, 0-1) snapped a scoreless streak that was nearly 10 quarters long. Garrett Urban added a third-quarter field goal.   Logan Jackson picked off a Desmond Young pass with 3:29 remaining and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown to give Prairie View A&M a 37-27 win over Houston Baptist Saturday. The contest featured five lead changes. Prairie View scored on its first three possessions, but held Houston Baptist to just three second-half points. Jaden Stewart scored on a three-yard run with 5:07 to play in the third quarter to put the Panthers ahead for good, 30-27. It was the first meeting between the schools. Blaise Bentsen threw for three first-half touchdowns for the Huskies (0-3), who led 24-23 at intermission, but didn't play in the second half.   Jawon Pass completed 25 of 37 passes for 354 yards and three touchdowns and Prairie View A&M opened the season with a 40-17 victory over Texas Southern in Southwestern Athletic Conference play on Saturday. Pass hooked up with Jailon Howard for a 59-yard score with 6:12 left in the first quarter. The Panthers missed the point-after kick for a 6-3 lead. Prairie View went up 13-3 on Lyndemian Brooks' 5-yard scoring run. Pass threw a 14-yard scoring strike to Darius Campbell late in the quarter, giving the Panthers a 20-3 lead at halftime.

Pass and Howard connected for a 72-yard touchdown on the first play of the third quarter to ignite the rout. Howard finished with four catches for 136 yards for the Panthers, while Antonio Mullins hauled in nine passes for 117 yards. Brooks ran for 54 yards on 15 carries. Jalen Brown completed 20 of 41 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers. Jyrin Johnson have five catches for 43 yards and a score. KeLenn Davis caught seven passes for 79 yards.   Jaden Johnson threw a touchdown pass and Jose Pizano kicked three field goals in the second half to help Missouri State beat Western Illinois 30-24 on Saturday. Pizano's 37-yard field goal tied it a 17 in the third quarter and his 43-yarder made it 20-17 early in the fourth. Tony Tate had a 2-yard touchdown run to give Western Illinois a 24-20 lead. Johnson threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Isaac Smith, and Pizano made a 33-yard field goal with 3:48 remaining. On the ensuing series, the Leathernecks drove to their 46, but the drive stalled when Kevin Ellis forced a Henry Ogala fumble and Eric Johnson recovered the ball to seal it for the Bears (1-3, 1-2 Missouri Valley). Johnson was 18-of-28 passing for 278 yards but threw two interceptions.
