  12/03/19 - *Yetur Gross-MatosJr/2020, Penn State, 6-5, 266 (DS#2 DE) + More +

Penn State will be losing one lineman early to the NFL but keeping another. A few hours after center Michal Menet announced that he will be returning to the Nittany Lions for his senior season in 2020, defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos said he will be leaving. Menet is a redshirt junior. Gross-Matos is a true junior - and a potential first-round NFL Draft choice in the spring. "After careful consideration, countless discussions with my coaches, family, and other advisors, I have decided to forego my final year of eligibility," Gross-Matos wrote in a a message posted on Twitter. "Even though I am leaving, I have promised my family and Coach Franklin that I will continue to pursue my Penn State degree." - Penn Live

  12/01/19 - *Pat FreiermuthJr/2021, Penn State, 6-5, 251 (DS#2 TE) + More +

Today's Penn State football news is headlined by the latest look at the state of the Lions as the final month of 2019 begins. It starts with head coach James Franklin, as he spent part of his postgame news conference on Saturday discussing rumors that claim he is interested in other jobs after PSU completed a 10-2 regular season by beating Rutgers 26-7. "I'm hoping this is going to be over very quickly," Franklin told reporters.

"Like I told you, I love Penn State, I love our players, and I don't see that changing any time soon. [Job rumors are] a little bit the nature of college football, but I love what we're doing here. I don't see that changing any time soon. Hopefully all this conversation will be over very shortly." In other team news, the Lions learned that star tight end Pat Freiermuth will be returning for his junior season instead of entering the 2020 NFL Draft. There's no word on a few other draft-eligible players, however, such as receiver KJ Hamler or end Yetur Gross-Matos. - PennLive.com

  11/30/19 - Journey BrownrSr/2022, Penn State, 5-11, 215 (DS#999 RB) + More +

Journey Brown ran for 103 yards with three touchdowns and No. 12 Penn State pulled away from Rutgers 27-6 on Saturday. Will Levis played quarterback for the Nittany Lions (10-2, 7-2 Big Ten, No. 10 CFP) in place of injured started Sean Clifford and added 108 rushing yards on 17 carries and a 42-yard touchdown pass to Jahan Dotson in the fourth quarter. Isaih Pacheco led Rutgers (2-10, 0-9 Big Ten) with 102 yards rushing on 18 carries and Johnny Langan completed 12 of 24 passes for 164 yards with 58 rushing yards. Penn State led 7-3 after a sleepy first half that featured six combined punts. The Nittany Lions took control of the game early in the third quarter.

Levis ripped off a 49-yard run on Penn State's first play of the half to set up an 18-yard touchdown run from Brown, who bounced off defenders for his second score of the day. Penn State led 13-3 after Rutgers blocked Jake Pinegar's extra point try. After Rutgers' Justin Davidovicz made a 38-yard field goal, Levis hooked up with Dotson, who spun around three defenders near the goal line to make it 20-6. Brown capped an 8-play drive with a 1-yard touchdown run on Penn State's next possession. Penn State wasn't nearly as efficient in the first half when Rutgers jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a 29-yard field goal from Davidovicz. Penn State responded with a six-play, 76-yard scoring drive fueled by Levis' running. He racked up 48 yards before Brown plunged in from 2 to give Penn State a 7-3 lead. - Penn State/AP College Football

  11/19/19 - *Yetur Gross-MatosJr/2020, Penn State, 6-5, 266 (DS#2 DE) + More +

Penn State DE Yetur Gross-Matos was a second-team preseason AP All-American and is a possible first-round draft pick. But he hasn't been the force coming off the edge that the Nittany Lions need him to be in recent weeks. He has one sack over his last five games, and the last two weeks Penn State has been burned for more than 300 yards passing by both No. 11 Minnesota and Indiana. - AP College Football

  11/16/19 - Sean CliffordrSr/2023, Penn State, 6-2, 218 (DS#20 QB) + More +

Quarterback Sean Clifford scored three touchdowns Saturday, leading No. 9 Penn State past No. 24 Indiana 34-27 to keep its playoff hopes alive. Penn State (9-1, 6-1 Big Ten, No. 9 CFP) next week plays at No. 2 Ohio State, where the top spot in the Big Ten East will be on the line. Clifford also completed 11 of 23 passes for 179 yards and ran for 55 yards. Journey Brown rushed 21 times for 100 yards and added a score. With Penn State ahead by a field goal with 10:45 to play, Clifford led an 18-play, 75-yard drive that ate 9:01 and ended when he plunged in from a yard out to put the game out of reach.

Tight end Nick Bowers caught a 12-yard touchdown pass for the Nittany Lions Peyton Ramsey completed 31 of 41 passes for 371 yards and a touchdown and ran for two more for the Hoosiers (7-3, 4-3) who outgained Penn State 462 to 371. After going three-and-out to start the game, the Nittany Lions recovered a muffed punt and scored on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Clifford to Bowers. Ramsey took advantage of a safety blitz on Indiana's next possession and hit an open Ty Fryfogle for 38 yards to make it 7-7. Jake Pinegar kicked a 47-yard field goal to put Penn State up 10-7, but Indiana took the lead when Ramsey capped a 63-yard drive with a 1-yard run less than three minutes later. Clifford put Penn State up 17-14 with 1:03 left in the first quarter when he sprinted up the middle for a 38-yard score. Pinegar added a 27-yard field goal to give Penn State a 20-14 halftime lead. - AP College Football
