Oklahoma State's Chuba Hubbard turned in his fourth 200-yard rushing performance of the season, and it came against an unlikely opponent. Hubbard carried 20 times for 223 yards against TCU and became the first player to go for 200 against the Horned Frogs since Gary Patterson took over as head coach in 2000. TCU went into the game 15th against the run (103.7 ypg) and had allowed just six rushes of 20-plus yards. Hubbard broke runs of 92 and 62 yards while piling up 192 in the second half in the Cowboys' 34-27 win.

Hubbard has rushed for at least 100 yards in seven straight games, the longest active streak in the Football Bowl Subdivision. His nation-leading 178.2 yards per game put him on pace for 2,317 in 13 games, assuming the Cowboys don't play in the Big 12 championship game. That would be the highest total since 2014, when Melvin Gordon ran for 2,587 yards in 14 games for Wisconsin. Joining Hubbard as 200-yard rushers Saturday were Boston College's AJ Dillon, Mississippi State's Kylin Hill, Texas A&M's Isaiah Spiller and Clemson's Travis Etienne. Dillon carried 35 times for 242 yards for his second 200-yard game of the year. Hill ran 21 times for 234 against Arkansas, Spiller carried 20 times for 217 yards against UTSA and Etienne amassed 212 yards on just nine carries against Wofford in his second 200-yard game of the season. - AP College Football

TCU's Gary Patterson has long been known as one of the best defensive coaches in college football -- especially against the run. Oklahoma State's Chuba Hubbard, the nation's leading rusher, treated Patterson's highly ranked unit just like the rest of them. The sophomore speedster piled up 223 yards rushing, including two long touchdowns, to help Oklahoma State defeat TCU 34-27 on Saturday. Hubbard rambled for 192 yards in the second half. A TCU spokesman said Hubbard became the first player to rush for at least 200 yards against TCU in Patterson's 19-year run as head coach. "When Chuba gets through there, nobody can catch him," Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said. "That makes him different than other players."

Spencer Sanders passed for 158 yards and ran for 88 and Dillon Stoner caught three passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns for the Cowboys (6-3, 3-3 Big 12), who became become bowl eligible for 14th straight year.

Oklahoma State played without star receiver Tylan Wallace, who reportedly tore an ACL during the week. Gundy said Wallace, a Biletnikoff Award finalist last season, is out for the season. "It's just hard for a coach to swallow," Gundy said. "It just almost ruined my week when I left the office, when I went home. When I go home, it just makes me sick to where I can hardly function. It's hard to lose a guy like that, not only as a player, but also as a person, what he brings to the table." Kolby Harvell-Peel led Oklahoma State's defense with two interceptions and a fumble recovery. Max Duggan passed for 258 yards and rushed for 86 for TCU (4-4, 2-3), but he threw three interceptions. - Oklahoma State/AP College Football

  11/02/19 - Tylan WallaceSr/2021, Oklahoma State, 5-11, 194 (DS#10 WR) + More +

The injury was to Tylan Wallace's knee, but the pain rippled throughout Cowboy country Friday afternoon. Wallace, Oklahoma State's star receiver and one of the faces of the program, got the news Friday that he had suffered a torn ACL, a source told The Oklahoman. Wallace suffered the injury in a non-contact situation at practice Wednesday and underwent an MRI Thursday that did not reveal the extent of the injury. Further testing Friday morning provided the answer no one in orange wanted to hear.

Wallace's season - and maybe his OSU career, but more on that later - is over. OSU athletic representatives declined to comment on the injury, which is congruent with program policy. Through eight games, the 6-foot, 185-pound junior had 903 yards and eight touchdowns on 53 receptions, a strong follow-up to his sophomore season in which he was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award. - The Oklahoman

Oklahoma State running back Chuba Hubbard's wildly successful season has made a lifelong issue a much smaller problem. For as far back as Hubbard can remember, folks have struggled to pronounce his first name. Most say CHUB-uh. He even heard someone throw his first and last name together and come up with Choohubbard. For the record, it's pronounced CHOO-buh. And since he leads the nation in rushing and all-purpose yards, people are finally starting to get it right. "They are trying," he said. "As long as they are trying, I get it. As long as they are saying my name some type of way, I guess it's a good thing."

He is giving people plenty of reasons to practice. He has rushed for 1,381 yards this season in eight games, an average of 172.6 yards per contest, and ranks second nationally with 16 rushing touchdowns heading into Saturday's home game against TCU. It's been enough to draw attention from former Oklahoma State and NFL star running back Barry Sanders, a Heisman Trophy winner. "He congratulated me on how the season's going," Hubbard said. "I would have never thought in a million years that Barry Sanders would be congratulating me. It's cool." Hubbard has approached some of Sanders' numbers. He rushed for a career-high 296 yards in a win over Kansas State, one of three games this season in which he has rushed for at least 200 yards. - AP College Football

Iowa State surged back into the Top 25 by making big plays on offense and limiting them on defense. Oklahoma State stole the Cyclones' recipe, took care of the ball and escaped Ames with a potential season-changing upset. Freshman Spencer Sanders threw for 249 yards and two TDs, and Oklahoma State beat 23rd-ranked Iowa State 34-27 on Saturday to snap the Cyclones' three-game winning streak. Chuba Hubbard had 116 yards rushing for the Cowboys (5-3, 2/3 Big 12), who used four big plays to snap their own two-game skid. The Pokes also forced three turnovers in the fourth quarter after entering play ranked 123rd nationally in turnover margin. "This is a great life lesson for the boys from the standpoint of, just keep playing," Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said.

Malcolm Rodriguez gave Oklahoma State a 34-27 lead with 6:47 to go on an interception he returned 26 yards for the eventual game-winning touchdown. Iowa State (5-3, 3-2) then stuffed Hubbard on a 4th-and-1 near midfield with just under 3 minutes left. But quarterback Brock Purdy threw another ill-advised pass that was picked off shortly thereafter -- then another interception in the final seconds that sealed the Cyclones' fate. Iowa State was also just 5 of 16 on third downs, and Purdy gave it away three times in the fourth after throwing just four interceptions all season entering the day. - Oklahoma State/AP College Football

Oklahoma State RB Chuba Hubbard is the nation's rushing leader with 1,265 yards (180.9 yards per game) and 15 touchdowns. The Cyclones have allowed only 111 yards rushing per game, second in the Big 12, and a league-low five touchdowns. Only one running back has gained more than 58 yards against them, and that was 93 yards in a non-conference game. Hubbard had 22 yards on two carries last season against Iowa State, when the Cowboys still had Justice Hill, who was limited to 66 yards on 24 carries. - AP College Football

A year ago, hardly anyone outside the Big 12 had heard of Oklahoma State's Chuba Hubbard. One month into this season, the rest of the nation must be wondering how that could be. Hubbard turned in his third 200-yard game over the weekend, running for 296 yards against Kansas State in the top rushing performance of the season. The sophomore from Canada has 938 rushing yards, the third-best five-game total to open a season since 2010. Only Bryce Love of Stanford (1,088) and Leonard Fournette of LSU (1,022) had more over that span.

Hubbard broke runs of 53, 84 and 44 yards while becoming the first player to rush for at least 200 yards in the first five games of a season for the school that produced Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas. "I say this to everybody, but anybody could have done what I did today," Hubbard said after the 26-13 win. "There were big holes everywhere. I'm thankful to be in this position, but I just have to go up from here." Hubbard is averaging 187.6 yards per game to lead the nation. That's well ahead of second-place Jonathan Taylor of Wisconsin, who is running for 139.8 per game. - AP College Football

Chuba Hubbard entered Saturday's game as the nation's leading rusher, yet still felt the need to rebound from what he considered to be a sub-par performance a week earlier. Hubbard ran for 296 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries, and Oklahoma State shut down No. 24 Kansas State's own vaunted rushing attack in a weather-delayed 26-13 victory. Hubbard carried just three times in the first quarter for the Cowboys (4-1, 1-1 Big 12), who built a 13-0 lead when the game was halted more than an hour in the second quarter due to lightning. But the breakout star finished with runs of 53, 84 and 44 yards in a dominant performance.

After gaining "just" 121 yards on 37 carries in a 36-30 loss at No. 11 Texas last week, Hubbard felt like he redeemed himself. "I wasn't happy with how it went last week, I felt like I let down my team in a lot of ways," Hubbard said. "Texas obviously played great but I know I could have done a lot more, so this week, I just wanted to bounce back from that and help put my team in a position to win. Everything came together, so it was a good win. "It's a great feeling." Spencer Sanders added 153 yards passing and a touchdown for Oklahoma State. Most of that went to Tylan Wallace, who hauled in eight passes for 145 yards. - Oklahoma State/AP College Football

"He's a special kid," said Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Sean Gleeson of Hubbard. "He sent me a text early in the week and he said, 'Hey coach, whatever it takes to win, I'll take the ball 30 times, I'll take it five times.' That's just a good measure of his character and what he wants to do for this football team. He was great tonight and he deserved a standing ovation." - Oklahoma State/AP College Football

  09/17/19 - Alan BowmanrSr/2025, Oklahoma State, 6-3, 220 (DS#60 QB) + More +

Texas Tech sophomore quarterback Alan Bowman will miss games because of a shoulder injury. Coach Matt Wells said Monday that Bowman "will miss several weeks" because of the injury sustained in a 28-14 loss at Arizona. The first-year Red Raiders coach didn't elaborate on the timing or provide more specifics about the injury to the Big 12's top passer.

As a true freshman last season, Bowman became the starter in the second game. He threw 2,638 yards with 17 touchdowns in eight games, missing four games over two different stints because of a collapsed lung. Bowman didn't miss an offensive snap Saturday night, though he left the field for the locker room briefly after a linebacker drove his left shoulder into the turf after an incomplete pass that ended Texas Tech's first series after halftime. Bowman copleted 30 of 55 passes for 307 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. - AP College Football
