  Aidan Dunn threw for three touchdowns, Tye Edwards ran for two scores and Northern Iowa topped Valparaiso 35-7 on Saturday. Opening at home for the first time in 14 years, the Panthers piled up 481 yards and held the Beacons to 124 in the first meeting between the teams. Edwards led the way with 177 yards on 15 carries, scoring on runs of 54 and 12 yards. Amauri Pesek-Hickson added 100 yards on 17 carries as Northern Iowa piled up 365 yards on the ground. With 29 first downs, the Panthers held the ball for almost 42 minutes. Dunne was 12 of 17 through the air for 116 yards. Layne Pryor had a 21-yard scoring reception and Pesek-Hickson had 20-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter. Dunne capped the scoring with a 5-yard toss to Sergio Morancy early in the third quarter. Valparaiso put together a 75-yard drive early in the second quarter with Mike Mansaray scoring on a 1-yard plunge. - AP College Football

  2023 ALL-MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: WR Sam Schnee, Northern Iowa, R-Sr.,...A wide receiver from Dubuque, Iowa, Sam Schnee is claiming All-MVFC honors for the second time in his career after being named to the All-MVFC Honorable Mention squad last season. The redshirt senior was both UNI's and the conference's leading receiver with 1,041 total receiving yards and 94.64 per game as well as 18.26 yards per reception. Schnee had three 100+ receiving yard games including a season-high 174 yards against No. 9 North Dakota State and recorded a season-long 66-yard reception against Missouri State. A 2023 team captain, he scored six touchdowns on the season, the fifth-best conference mark, and moved to seventh on UNI's all-time receiving yards list and the 11th Panther to join the 2,000+ receiving yard club. - Northern Iowa Football

  2023 ALL-MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: PK Matthew Cook, Northern Iowa, Sr.,...A native of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Matthew Cook is claiming his fifth All-MVFC First Team honor. Possibly the best kicker to come through FCS football, Cook finished his career a perfect 155-155 in PATs with 31 coming this season. He scored 88 total points on the season, the second-highest mark in the MVFC, and became the second player in MVFC history to reach 400 career points. Cook recorded a league-high 1.73 field goals per game and a 90.48 field goal percentage while making the most field goals in the MVFC this season (19) with a long of 50 yards against Indiana State.   2022 ALL-MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: QB Theo Day, Northern Iowa, R-Jr.,...Day picks up his first all-conference honor after leading the MVFC in passing yards (3,121), yards per pass attempt (9.6), pass efficiency (169), passing touchdowns (26), passing yards per game (283.7) and total offense (289.7). He also ranks 7th in the nation in total passing yards, as well as 8th passing touchdowns.
