  WEEK 12 BIG SKY CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kolbe Katsis, Northern Arizona (WR, R-Sr., Owasso, Okla.),...Northern Arizona's Kolbe Katsis had six catches for 148 yards and three touchdowns, as the Lumberjacks won their seventh game of the season in a 35-27 victory over Cal Poly. The 148 yards and three touchdowns were both career highs for Katsis, while he became the first Lumberjack since 2019 to record three receiving touchdowns in a game. Katsis scored on passes of 6, 75, and 38 yards on the day. Katsis is just the third Big Sky player this season to record three or more touchdown catches, while the weekly conference honor is the second of the season for the senior.   WEEK 11 BIG SKY SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kolbe Katsis, Northern Arizona (KR, R-Sr., Owasso, Okla.),...Kolbe Katsis returned a kick 100 yards for a touchdown in NAU's 49-10 win over Northern Colorado. His kick return was the first by a Lumberjack since 2017. After Northern Colorado scored a touchdown to trim NAU's lead to 21-10 right before the half, Katsis' kick return completely shifted the tide back in NAU's favor, giving NAU a 28-10 halftime lead and the Lumberjacks wound up scoring 28 unanswered points.   Ty Pennington threw for 356 yards and four touchdown passes, and Northern Arizona beat Cal Poly 35-27 on Saturday night. Northern Arizona (7-4, 4-3 Big Sky Conference), which has won three of its last four games, stopped two Cal Poly drives deep inside its own territory with less than three minutes to play. Pennington completed 22 of 29 passes and threw one interception. Kolbe Katsis caught three touchdown passes and finished with six catches for 148 yards. The pair connected on a 75-yard touchdown just before halftime that gave the Lumberjacks a 22-10 lead. Seth Cromwell added 85 yards rushing on 16 carries. Pennington's fourth TD pass, a 38-yarder to Katsis, stretched Northern Arizona's lead to 29-17 early in the third quarter. Samuel Hunsaker kicked a 42-yard field goal to give the Lumberjacks a 32-20 lead heading into the fourth.

Quarterback Anthony Grigsby Jr. had a short-yardage touchdown run to cap a 7-play, 60-yard drive to pull Cal Poly to 32-27 with 7:44 to play, but Hunsaker added a 37-yard field goal with about five minutes left. Grigsby threw an interception on fourth-and-15 from the 18 with 2:20 to play. The Mustangs then got the ball back with 59 seconds remaining after stuffing Cromwell's run for no gain on fourth-and 1 at the NAU 27, but they later couldn't convert on fourth-and-6 from the 23 with 12 seconds left. Grigsby threw for 151 yards with a touchdown pass and interception. Ty Dieffenbach was 10-of-23 passing for 119 yards and threw a touchdown pass and two interceptions for Cal Poly (3-8, 1-6).   Seth Cromwell had two of Northern Arizona's five rushing touchdowns, Kolbe Katsis scored on a 100-yard kickoff return, and the Lumberjacks beat Northern Colorado 49-10 on Saturday. Ty Pennington threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Jayson Raines to open the scoring about seven minutes into the game, Darvon Hubbard scored on a 4-yard run late in the first quarter and Quran Gossett ran for a 7-yard TD that made it 21-3 with two minutes left in the second.

Brandon Johnson's 3-yard touchdown run for Northern Colorado (3-6, 1-4 Big Sky Conference) capped a 10-play, 73-yard drive with 23 seconds left in the first half but Katsis returned the ensuing kickoff for a TD that gave the Lumberjacks a 28-10 lead at halftime. It was the first kickoff return for a touchdown by a Northern Arizona (5-4, 2-3) player since 2017, also against the Bears. Cromwell scored on third-quarter runs of 2 and 7 yards before Ryan Fontaine capped the scoring with a 7-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. Pennington was 19-of-22 passing for 255 yards.   Ty Pennington had a go-ahead touchdown pass and Darvon Hubbard, Quran Gossett and Seth Cromwell each had a touchdown run to propel Northern Arizona to a 31-18 victory over Idaho State on Saturday night. Pennington threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Braden Kramer with 3:51 remaining in the second quarter and Hubbard added a 4-yard touchdown run with 34 seconds left to put Northern Arizona (5-3, 2-2 Big Sky Conference), ranked No. 22 in the FCS coaches' poll, up 21-10 at halftime. After a scoreless third quarter, Gossett had a 3-yard touchdown run at the end of a 16-play drive that took nearly seven minutes off the clock spanning the quarters to up the Lumberjacks' advantage to 28-10.

Jordan Cooke had a 23-yard touchdown pass to Michael Shulikov and a 2-point conversion pass to Jonah Burton to cut the Bengals' deficit to 10 with 8:52 remaining. Dason Brooks scored on a 6-yard run to give Idaho State a 7-0 midway through the first quarter, but Seth Cromwell answered with an 8-yard touchdown run to knot the score. The Bengals regained the lead on Trajan Sinatra's 40-yard field goal early in the second quarter. Pennington completed 24 of 30 passes for 171 yards. NAU totaled 200 yards on 45 rushes. Samuel Hunsaker's 41-yard field goal was the game's final score. Cooke totaled 256 yards on 26-for-39 passing with an interception for Idaho State (2-6, 1-3).   Quran Gossett rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns, Ty Pennington threw for 262 yards and a touchdown, and FCS No. 15 Northern Arizona defeated Portland State 31-17 on Saturday. The Lumberjacks (4-1, 1-0 Big Sky) won their conference opener on the road for the first time since 2017, and their record through five games is their best since 2012. Portland State (0-5, 0-1) had won two straight games against NAU. NAU scored on their first four drives to take a 24-10 lead into the half and allowed no offensive scores in the second half. Portland State's lone points of the second half came on a 57-yard punt return by Jordan Herron. Gossett had a 29-yard touchdown rush for NAU's longest scoring play early in the fourth quarter.   Ty Pennington threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns to help Northern Arizona beat Incarnate Word 31-23 on Saturday. Pennington went 17 of 34 for 286 yards with scoring throws to Jayson Raines, Myseth Currie and Jeter Purdy. Kolbe Katsis added four catches for 95 yards as Northern Arizona averaged 16.8 yards per reception. Pennington's first-quarter strike made it 7-0, he added another in the second, and a short rushing score before halftime pushed the margin to 21-10.

After Incarnate Word cut it to 21-16 in the third, Pennington answered with a deep shot to Currie for a 28-16 lead. Samuel Hunsaker made a 50-yard field goal with 1:54 left in the fourth to cap the scoring. Incarnate Word's EJ Colson finished 28 of 36 for 292 yards with two touchdowns to Jameson Garcia, who caught nine passes for 120 yards.   Ty Pennington threw for 366 yards and three touchdowns as Northern Arizona survived a furious fourth-quarter rally to edge Southern Utah 50-49 on Saturday. Pennington connected with Kolbe Katsis for two long scores, including an 88-yard strike that highlighted a 28-point third quarter for the Lumberjacks (1-1). Katsis finished with 135 yards on six catches. Northern Arizona built a 49-28 lead behind Pennington and a balanced run game paced by Seth Cromwell who rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Quran Gossett added a score on the ground as part of the Lumberjacks' four rushing touchdowns.

Southern Utah (1-1) nearly erased the deficit behind running back Joshua Dye, who carried 25 times for 171 yards and four touchdowns. The Thunderbirds added a 95-yard kickoff return score by Ran Sawyer to fuel a 21-point final quarter.   Ty Pennington passed for a touchdown and ran for another and Jaylan Wesley made two big interceptions as Northern Arizona held off Utah Tech 38-31 on Saturday. Wesley returned an interception 39 yards to the Highlanders' 5-yard line that set up Seth Cromwell's second touchdown run for a 24-7 lead. Cromwell scored on a 2-yard run for the Lumberjacks' first points. Utah Tech (1-1) scored twice in the fourth quarter to get within seven points and got the ball back with 1:34 left on its own 15 but Wesley picked off Reggie Graf to end the threat.

Pennington was 21 of 28 for 229 yards passing, with a touchdown and an interception for NAU (1-1). Kolbe Katsis had a 49-yard TD reception for a 31-10 halftime lead and finished with 82 yards receiving on three catches. Graff threw for 75 yards and ran for 74 more, including two touchdowns. Bronson Barben threw for a TD and was picked off twice. NAU, ranked 14th in the FCS coaches poll, won its eighth straight home game, tying a school record set over the 1978 and 1979 seasons. - AP College Football

  Boise State has lost three players to the transfer portal in recent weeks, and a local player left the team. Redshirt freshman wide receiver Jalen Richmond was the latest player to announce he was transferring. He didn't appear in any games last season after joining the program as a three-star recruit from Chandler High School in Arizona. Former four-star recruit Casey Kline is also in the portal. He joined the Broncos in 2019 as an edge rusher but didn't see much playing time and moved to tight end in the spring. Leading the Lumberjacks with 106 tackles, Vest ranked inside the Top 25 of the FCS while tying for the fourth-most tackles in a single season at Northern Arizona.
