2019 PRESEASON CONFERENCE USA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Mason Fine, Sr., QB, North Texas,...A trio of standouts headline the list of 2019 preseason Conference USA Football award winners, as chosen by the league’s 14 head coaches. North Texas senior QB Mason Fine was selected as the favorite to win his third straight C-USA Offensive Player of the Year award, FIU senior LB Sage Lewis was tabbed the preseason Defensive Player of the Year, while Charlotte sophomore K Jonathan Cruz earned Special Teams Player of the Year accolades.

Fine enters his fourth season as a starter as the FBS' active national leader in career passing yards (9,417) and is the two-time reigning Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year. He leads a Mean Green offense that has averaged 35.1 points per game over the last two seasons. Fine already owns North Texas program records for career passing yards, completions, attempts, and most 200-and 300-yard games. By the time his collegiate career comes to a close, Fine will likely own every major passing record in program history. - Conference USA Football

North Texas quarterback Mason Fine will join safety Khairi Muhammad at Conference USA media days next week at The Star in Frisco. The league's annual event serves as a kickoff of sorts for the football season. Each team's head coach and two players represent their program at media days. UNT is coming off a 9-4 campaign that included an appearance in the New Mexico Bowl. The Mean Green are expected to be one of the top teams in C-USA this season, largely due to the return of Fine. The two-time C-USA offensive player of the year enters his senior season as the nation's active leading passer with 9,417 yards to go along with 64 touchdown passes. - Denton Record

Fine should be on the Watchlist for every All-Star Game and got a shot at the late rounds next spring. Even with three to five underclassmen quarterback's entering the pool, filling two rounds worth of picks, knocking the seniors down the team boards a bit.
